Nice, clean, quiet, reasonable rates. Even wifi was decent. Beds in motels are usually a bit stiff so I always bring my own memory foam pad. Add this tip for all your motel travels and you can turn motel beds into high end hotels :)

We are staying at the Rodeway Inn in Ashland, Oregon while waiting for our house to be ready and they have been great. Very comfortable clean room and bed. A very adequate continental breakfast with hard boiled eggs, yogurt, waffles, cereals, Danish and more.
The bathroom and shower have been modernized and the air conditioner and heater work great. We have been very happy here.

I’ve stayed in accommodations ranging from modest to five-​star. Given the very low room rate, I had only moderate expectations for our stay at the Ashland Rodeway Inn. We were pleasantly surprised — our large room and bathroom, with its beautiful tiled shower, were squeaky clean* — this from a former motel maid at an establishment with exacting cleanliness standards. The continental breakfast* bordered on lavish: Belgian waffles, cold and hot cereal, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, yogurt, packaged pastries, OJ, decent coffee with real half-​and-​half. Speedy Wi-​Fi. Very pleasant staff. The kidney-​shaped pool looked inviting, although we had no time to swim. Right off the freeway (no traffic noise in the room with the ventilation fan on low) and just a few pleasant minutes’ drive to SOU and OSF. Parking was tight when we returned late after a play at OSF; the lot is shared with a restaurant/​lounge — a minor issue. There’s a reason this sweet budget motel was sold out when others nearby were not — it’s a great deal. Highly recommend!
*In response to previous reviews: 1) Claim of bad «aroma» — our room had no unsavory smell whatsoever. I have a very finicky nose and either a stinky room, or a room that smelled of «freshener» to cover up stink, would have been a deal-​breaker. Not the case here. 2) Claim of a «weak» breakfast — this motel advertises a free *continental* breakfast, not an eggs-​Benedict-​lox-​and-​mimosa pearls-​and-​twinset brunch. Per the breakfast items in my review above: what more could one want in a free continental breakfast at a budget motel to render it not «weak?» Gee whiz!

Nothing special about this place, but it’s a fine motel for the price and location. A bit of traffic in the parking lot at night, but overall, the motel is good.
The room was decent and clean, and the A/​C worked well. The bathroom was small but clean. The pool was ice cold, but it was nice to soak in the sun for a bit in the daytime while waiting for the night-​time plays at the Shakespeare Festival. The morning breakfast was weak, though, and the breakfast room is joined to the lobby. Thus, it was kind of cramped.
Overall, though, totally a good deal for the money.

Decided to make a reservation at the RI in Ashland as a rest stop while my son and I drove up from Long Beach, CA to Tacoma, WA.
The main reason I chose this spot was both for location and price… I figured after a long day on the road we just needed a bed to crash in.
The pleasant surprise was the rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and there was even free wifi to take advantage of. The next morning I figured my son and I would just walk to the diner/​café that was right next door but I decided to walk into their free breakfast area just to see what was what. When I saw the hot waffle iron and no line I immediately had a change of heart and took advantage of the free breakfast. The Indian woman attending was very respectful and helpful. We enjoyed fresh hard boiled eggs and coffee to go with my hot waffle.
It was nothing fancy but it did the trick… I will be sure to stay here again next time I drive the length of the western US coast. Clean room and a yummy warm breakfast for less than $ 100…Done.

I was really impressed on how clean and quiet this hotel is for a budget hotel. The refrig and heater ran during the night but I slept soundly as there was no rattling motor noise. The staff is extremely kind and friendly and allowed us a late check out time so we could shower after a bike ride. The breakfast consists of cereal, oatmeal, fruits, pastries, yogurt, cocoa, juices, coffee and tea. Wild Goose café is in the same parking lot if you prefer a full breakfast/​lunch/​dinner. The hotel is conveniently located near other restaurants, supermarket, gas station, and Hwy 5. Downtown is a 10 minute drive. There is a flat and paved bike path nearby that runs for miles –beyond Medford. I will definitely stay here when visiting Ashland or if driving through Oregon. It amazes me how much luxury one demands when they are only willing to pay $ 50/​night.

I checked in here, and literally checked out 2 minutes later! Beware that this place is very old, and very run down! The state of the room is circa 1970, and the aroma would bring any man to his knees! Do not be tempted by the low prices! If this was a Motel 6 it would be 1000% better than what it is! Literally the worst hotel I’ve ever set foot it!

I stayed here alone with my children for a week while waiting for my husband to join us and I must say that in spite of having very close proximity to a bar, I felt very safe and relaxed. Their deskstaff are incredibly professional while remaining personable and friendly, the cleaning staff are quick and very proficient. They are also right next door to a great diner, which happens to have a bar in the back. Honestly the only reason I can’t give five stars is because of the bar so close and when we checked back in the bigger room was closer to the bar and some nights we heard drunkards. The price really is fair for the cozy and clean accommodations. Also you are close to everything; the highway, gas stations, restaurants, health food stores, grocery stores, fine dining, downtown Ashland… overall nice affordable, no frills, hotel.

The front desk lady really makes you feel welcome and is super helpful. Nice clean rooms. Ours even has view of the mountains. Easy access to the freeway. Close to restaurants etc. Half the price of rooms 2 miles closer to downtown. I’d stay here again.

We were only passing through Ashland and needed to stay just 1 night. We booked using Priceline and at $ 60 for a King Room it was slightly more pricy than some of the other Motel/​Inn 2 Star accommodations we’ve been staying in throughout Oregon, but not as well maintained.
Look, for the price it’s just about a clean room with a bed and hot shower — that’s what you get here. It’s not the nicest or most welcoming place around for the lower end price, but it’s certainly adequate.
The continental breakfast consisted of a juice machine, coffee and some cheap looking supermarket pastries.
Biggest bonus would be the Wild Goose Café which shares a parking lot with this Rodeway Inn, I would definitely recommend you stop in there for your diner style breakfast ($ 5.50 for 2 large buttermilk pancakes) and super friendly service, or later in the evenings its more of a restaurant/​bar.

Stopped over for the night on a long road trip. Was pleasantly greeted by friendly front desk personnel. Enjoyed slightly outdated but clean rooms and a comfortable bed. Would happily stay again.

My husband and I first stayed here back in 2001 or 2002. We had a good time here and decided that if we ever stayed in Ashland again that we would stay here.
This last weekend we stopped in Ashland on our way home to Washington and decided to stop here. There are now new owners, and the motel is being upgraded.
There is beautiful granite tile in the bathroom — so far the sink and the walls of the shower. The owner told me that next year they will replace all the shower floors and all the beds [I had no problem with the bed — it was very comfortable]. I needed extra pillows and the young lady at the front desk graciously provided me with an extra pillow.
Accessing their free wifi was really easy [we stayed at a big chain motel in another town on our way to California Thursday night and their wifi kept failing — I got knocked off at least 6 times in a 15 minute time frame]. The wifi here was not only easy but I never got knocked off of it the entire evening.
After reading the reviews for the Wild Goose methinks that the Lisa B post could be part of the group of spammers these two Ashland merchants are having problems with. I also showed up with a AAA card and I can assure you that the price I was charged for the room was well below the lowest price that this Lisa B person noted in her post.
Since both my husband and I love Ashland I know that we will be returning again to this beautiful city. And we will undoubtedly be staying at THIS motel.

It’s small but was def a nice place to stay. Only a few miles out of the heart of Ashland. A little loud with a hopping bar in the same lot but it was never too loud.

Very disappointed. My son and I checked in Wednesday July 3^rd for three nites. Was quoted a a price of $ 72 and change — with AAA. They advertise online $ 66. Ended up being charged $ 82 and change to my credit card. Will never stay there again — for a second we thought about going across the street to the Super 8 — but just wanted to unload the car and start seeing Ashland.
Right off the freeway was very handy — and only minutes to downtown — and close to grocery stores. The room was clean — just a shower stall — no tub — bummer. Stayed on second floor — and really enjoyed meeting other travelers. Did have an iron — which was great — fridge/​freezer was a plus. Free Wi-​Fi came in very handy. Continental breakfast was ok — took advantage of it on the morning we were checking out.

Recent carpeting, shower rehab makes this rather rundown facility passable for an inexpensive overnight stay on the run. Free wifi works well in room 212.

I stayed here for two nights at the end of the Shakespeare Festival and was so pleased with the comfort and cleanliness as well as the sweet and helpful managers. My room was spacious and well equipped with refrigerator, table and chairs, very comfy bed and shower with nice dispenser for gels, shampoos and lotions. The room looked like it had been newly refurbished — a very good deal for the money. I will stay here the next time I visit. There is also a nice restaurant right next door.

This hotel was very clean. It has a groovy shower gel/​shampoo/​conditioner dispenser, an iron, hairdryer, decent tv, and coffee maker. The big surprise was the fridge and microwave: BONUS! We stayed in a double room for about $ 70. This hotel is a great deal. The breakfast is nothing to get excited about, but it’s food, and one of our beds was pretty soft, but overall, a great place to stay.

I decided to stay the night in Ashland again, on my drive down from Seattle to SF. After calling around a bit, Knights Inn (now a Rodeway Inn) quoted me $ 70, almost half the price of anything else in the area, with the Shakespearean festival kicking into high gear. And… now I know why motels have the reputation they do.
On the upside, free wi-​fi, their beds are comfy, the rooms are reasonably clean, they’re inexpensive, and they have a «breakfast» service from 6−10am, where they provide coffee, milk, some cereal, packaged pastries, fresh bananas and apples — but really, unless you’re in a huge hurry, why not go to the inexpensive, and tasty, Mother Goose Café that’s 50 feet away?
The downsides? Cheap pillows; cheap, thin tissues and toilet paper; I found a bug (not bed bugs, fortunately) in a towel and one of the comforters; and my accessible room was not really accessible, as the shower has no fold down bench, the motel doesn’t have shower chairs/​stools to offer, and you can’t close the bathroom door with a wheelchair inside (and if you don’t, the shower steam will supposedly set off the fire alarm).
Another caveat — this is no longer a Knights Inn Motel. They sold the property to the Rodeway Inn chain, for better or for worse. Personally, I’ll stick to slightly more upscale places next time around.
