I love this place! Prices are low, food is delicious and even the margaritas are only $ 4! This is a self service, order at the counter place, with a fun atmosphere and large portions. Their guacamole is worth having with everything. My favorite is the chicken quesadilla with a side of guacamole. Under $ 10 and with a $ 4 margarita you cannot go wrong. Taste taste taste! I just read that they are open until midnight! Perfect! Come hungry and try everything!

One of my favorites places in the Valley. I’m Mexican and I approve this food. Tacos are a must have. The green salsa is the most spicy, reminds me of my childhood. The staff is super friendly. Alcohol is really good too. The only downside is that they close at midnight.

Taqueria picaro… Hands down favorite joint to hit in Ashland. The food is delicious and authentic. The service is quality and the vibes and good conversation is on point. Get there on a day Brian the bartender is working… And your going to be entertained!

This is a casual taqueria with good food. You order at the counter and bus your own table. The tacos, burritos, and enchiladas are delicious. Our only wish is for bigger portions. The tacos are street taco size with flavorful meat and a ton of fresh lettuce(in fact, the waiter recommended that I eat the tacos like a salad with a fork because it’s filled with a whole lot of lettuce). At $ 4 for fish taco and $ 3 for carnitas taco, I expected bigger tacos that I eat with my hands. The burritos and enchiladas are also under size … but delicious!

Typically i would have gave this place 3 stars but tonight my food was almost cold. Staff was friendly but the music is always blaring and annoying. The booths are a little awkward. Redeemed! Gave it another chance… food was not cold. Beans and rice could use more salt/flavor. Staff was friendly as usual! I still cant get the genre of music. obnoxious! Prices are average.

Went here late night, after the bar around 2am. I see a mass of people lined up, so I figure it has to be good. Saw it was cash only, so I went, and took $ 40 bucks out of the ATM. I get to the window, I give the girl a $ 20 which she takes. I order 4 chicken tacos, and tell her I only need $ 5 back. She looks at me confused, and I remind her I have already given her money. She says she doesn’t remember that, and that she will need payment from me. I give her my other $ 20, which she takes again, she takes her tip out, and hands me the remaining change. The tacos were good, but I won’t be coming back. I understand that she was just one person, and there was a lot of drunk commotion going on. Such as people almost getting into drunk fights, general drunk ruckus, but I feel she took advantage of me. Whether it was a honest mistake, or she thought I was complacent/drunk. Either one is inexcusable.

I didn’t have many expectations for this place, but I wanted tacos and found this place. I read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. I ended up getting a chicken burrito, and it was phenomenal. I’m pretty picky about my Mexican food, but this burrito was more than great. I like the setup of the restaurant too– order and pay for your meal, sit down, and they bring it out. It’s got a good amount of seating in the little area they occupy. Next time I will try out the bar that is attached but sectioned off from the restaurant area. The service was friendly as well. I will definitely be back.

Being a California transplant and having eaten my share of Mexican food in Mexico, I’ve lived in Ashland for 14 years and have been on quest ever since moving here to find a Mexican restaurant with authentic flavors. Tonight, I’ve found it at Taqueria Picaro. I am overjoyed!

Oh my gosh. So good. We got a nacho and split that. And then my date got the super burrito and I got a combo plate with a taco and tostada. Also got the La Diabla Picaro drink, which was pretty strong! Finished with the sangria picaro, which was probably one of the best sangrias I’ve ever had. Very original. The nachos were my favorite I’ve had in a long time. the chips were perfection. They have four different salsas you can get in little ramekins. Very good, no complains. Was going to go to Agave, but saw good reviews for this place. I’m glad we came!

Great little spot for delish mexican food right in the heart of downtown Ashland. The main dining room doesn’t have much in the way of ambience, but who cares… the food is good! We actually ordered at the walk-up counter then sat at the adjacent bar where I had a fantastic margarita… yum! For food we ordered carnitas tacos and chicken nachos… both were really good… and the salsas were fabulous, too! Our nacho chips ran out before our nacho toppings, and they were happy to give us a few extra without charge. Great little spot for an inexpensive and tasty meal.

This food isn’t anything special that I have experienced. I am bored by these Mexican restaurants that keep popping up around Oregon which take good classic food and ruin it in the process of trying to make it something it’s not. I have tried just about everything on the menu and so far haven’t had anything I was dying to come back for. I’ve been here 3 times and each time was more disappointed than the last. My struggle for good Mex will continue forever I think, in Oregon. Sigh.

Oh the struggle when we come here: Do we get the yucca fries or the chips and guacamole?!? Both are so good! I also love the al pastor and carnita’s tacos. My husband is devoted to the quesadilla, something about the Oaxacan cheese really works for him. We got taquitos with carnitas last time and they were very good too. Perfectly crunchy! Drinks are great and when we ate in the bar once the bar tender was very fun. They have a small but well chosen selection of beers on tap. The only thing I’ve had here that I didn’t love was the fish taco. Kinda bland. I’m hoping they re-vamp them although maybe they shouldn’t because then my choices would be even more difficult. I would also love to see them do a tres leches cake.

It’s only gotten better! The prices are just outstanding! Three of us ate tonight for 20 dollars plus tip, AND I ordered a margarita. That L.R. person down there complaining about tacos that cost 2.50 has obviously not actually eaten out in Ashland. Agave tacos are 4 dollars at the very least and the same size. In fact I am not sure he’s eaten out in the past 10 years. My favorite thing these days are the tamales. They are 3.50 and stuffed with chicken. The masa stuff has never, ever been dry. The red sauce on top just makes it perfect. These tamales are every bit as good as the ones we used to buy in bulk from the Mexican ladies at the Catholic church down in Costa Mesa, Ca, when I was a kid. If you don’t like these tamales, you just don’t like authentic tamales. End of story. Service is always friendly, tables are always clean, food always comes out promptly. Not much else you could ask for.

It does the trick. Had a few really good meals here, and a few marginal. I like the selection of salsas. Service is fine, and the cheap-o margarita is fun.

Ate their yucas fritas and keep asking for more. I shared it with a curious person that was seating next to me. Also ordered ceviche/tostada and it was heavenly. Their salsa was divine. Their drinks are done well and my 14 friends and I went there for 2days in a row.

First visit was a good one! Now I wish I lived in Ashland… and that I’d tried the margaritas. Ceviche tostada was so good, and the tacos, though small, were very tasty indeed. Try the marinated chicken for protein. MMMM. Sauces in plastic bottles are notable; I liked the spicy verde the best. Amazingly thick and perfectly fried chips, like when you make them at home. The guac was good. Prices are reasonable! They give you a playing card instead of a number for your order. cute And the music was outstanding. Mexican dance party and electronica. YEEEESSSS!!!

Not a fancy spot, but provided the best Mexican food we’ve had since moving from the SF Bay Area to Portland last year. I don’t say that lightly. I even ate some of the guacamole(I hate avocado, including guacamole). I also don’t normally like margaritas much. The bartender here changed my mind. For fairness, I’ll disclose that we had been driving for 7+ hours and were starving when we rolled into town. This taqueria was one of the few places still open at 9:30pm. I don’t think our road weariness affected our judgement, like I said – full disclosure ;-) Ugh. Now I have to figure out how to make more trips to Ashland!

Yummy tacos, tequila, bright colorful decorations, nice casual atmosphere, friendly service — what’s not to like?! My fiancé took me here because it’s his favorite place to eat in town. This place did not disappoint! The Al Pastor taco(spicy marinated pork) was my favorite. A tip: the hot sauces are SPICY!!! I should have stuck with the regular salsa or the chipotle, but I wanted to try them all on my tacos. The green and orange salsas have lots of heat — delicious! — but too spicy for my mild palette. We came with a friend who has a baby, and this restaurant was kid friendly! And $ 2 tacos?! I am definitely coming back here!
