this place is so amazing we came back twice during our stay in aspen! The first night was so crazy with their house music and we were too tired so we said that we would try our best to come back the next night. We came back the next night and it was less intense that we actually enjoyed it! This was the center of checker shirts, trucker hats, and yup, pabst blue ribbon. You’ll get the occasional Euro aspen sugar babies but for the most part, it’s a younger crowd!

Great venue. Lots of seating or standing options. Wonderful bartenders who serve up reasonably priced drinks. And, of course, great music just about every night of the week. Hip up!

We came to Aspen to see our favorite band(The Revivalists). The venue was outstanding! Karen had our reserved seats in the best location possible sitting our group of 4 in the center. The sound was fantastic and the lights were crisp and vivid. The best overall experience I’ve had at a music venue. Great food too.

The Belly Up in Aspen needs to get its act together. When you pay money for a concert, you expect to be able to enter the venue and see the entire show that you paid for. There may have been a reason to keep about 75 paying customers outside for 40 minutes while the concert they paid for was taking place, but there should have been some addressing of the situation by the staff. A partial refund, drinks, an apology, anything. I’m pretty upset by the whole situation, because while $ 65 is not a lot to people in Aspen, it is a lot to me, and I would’ve liked to have seen what I paid for.

This is an awesome venue! Small but good layout, kind of stadium style with a good size dance floor with seating area circling behind it. Waitresses come down to the dance floor to take drink orders. Acoustics are great. I can’t believe what a good show it was for $ 25(Nappy Roots). Place was packed but still had enough room to dance, maneuver between dance floor and seating area. Going to be visiting this one a lot this season!

Belly Up is my favorite venue of all time. The small and intimate setting of this venue makes it the perfect place to see any type of show! Located in the heart of downtown Aspen, Belly Up serves great drinks and even better sound and acoustics. We came in October to see Bonobo and I was super excited because he always plays a great show. I was even more impressed when I realized how great this venue was. The sound was fantastic and it was so nice to be so close to the stage! No matter where you are sitting in Belly Up, you can see the stage. The seats are plush and comfortable. There is a gorgeous bar and the building is softly lit. The waitresses were very nice and fast with our drinks. They had some great beer on tap. I would highly recommend seeing your favorite artist at Belly Up, you will not be disappointed!

Great concert and performance venue. Outstanding layout that lets you either sit back and enjoy the show from away or get up close and personal in front of the stage. Lot’s of great performers, big and small, coming through all the time and a lot of events in between makes this a locals and tourist fan favorite. There’s always people in, and most of the time it’s busy enough to have a great atmosphere. The place is quite small so it can get crowded, especially for more popular acts. Drinks are alright, but just enough. The drinks are alright, though maybe a bit on the pricey side.

Worst bar I have ever been to in my life. They are jackasses! The bouncer was legit watching me pee. Drinks are way over priced as well. DONOTGO!

500 person venue that brings in HUGE talent. The venue is underground, with three levels to stand on, there’s no bad spot in the house. The bathrooms are clean and spacious, the sound system is incredible, and everyone was very courteous and nice. Service can be slow on busy nights, and the drinks are a touch on the pricey side, but you can’t beat this surprisingly intimate venue anywhere else in town.

They say it’s one of the best venues in the country but I don’t think it’s even in the top 50. The sound 2/10, drink pours/prices 3/10, staff 4/10, sight lines 1/10, cost 1/10, proximity to band 10/10, visual lights potential 4/10, bathrooms 4/10, entrance procedure 1/10, crowdedness 1⁄10. People think that because you’re close the band that that makes it the best venue. Well it’s not. If you can’t hear or see the band because the sound is terrible and the sight lines are non existent then what’s the point. Also stop selling so many damn tickets. That place is packed, you can’t move anywhere in there. This place is also probably the biggest fire hazard ever. Shit if there’s a fire in that place people are going to die, a lot of people. Maybe that’s why they have that weird policy of only letting in 5 people at a time from the outside. They know if they block that entrance people could be in real trouble.

Soooooo crowded. Perhaps I just wasn’t able to move enough around inside before finding what was so great about the place. Plus the ticket to get in was like $ 20 – 25! I think there WAS a concert or something going on that night, but still.

One of the best venues I’ve been to for live music! Warning do not stop for special«brownies» before you go… Or maybe you should!

My experience at The Belly Up was great! The friends I had come with said it was a little unusual, but because it was a smaller act the place opened up there usual VIP seating areas for general admission. Drinks are decently strong, but $ 10 bucks a piece… not too uncommon for a live music venue and definitely not uncommon for aspen. The music sounded great. Their sound system was perfect for our show. Lots of clears and good distortion to go with it… you could hear it all. The seats and table we had made it comfy for a show and the we could see perfectly because it’s tiered. I look forward to more shows there

This is an unbelievable venue for music. So many great names playing in such an amazing location. I came here to watch the Kyle Gass band play and it was my first visit there. The bar was fully stocked and large. All around the venue there were photos of all the artists that had played there before and it was quite the impressive list. The sound system rocked. The service was great. And the bar makes a killer Moscow mule. Great spot for music and drinks!!!

I attended a «concert» on in August of 2014. Although the venue of the Belly Up is intimate and wonderful, the service excellent and the food OK(skip the fish tacos and go for the burger), the act of the evening, BB King was unable to perform. He was either drunk, or stoned, but he could not annunciate or remember the words to any songs, even his hit«The Thrill Is Gone». He continually passed the mike to people in the audience or placed it on it’s stand and did not even use it. He was totally unable to even play the basic chords on the guitar. There were boos from the audience and most people left, even the patrons who paid $ 400 per ticket. When I asked the Belly Up for a refund I was told that they could not guarantee the performance of the act. I am sure there is a performance clause in the contract with the acts and it is unacceptable that the cost of the tickets were not refunded to every patron. The best concert I ever attended was BB as opening act for the Rolling Stones. He stole the show! While I know he is much, much, older, I was SO looking forward to hearing him again. I am appalled that he is such a disgrace to his profession. What a disappointment.

We just saw Bassnectar here. out of all of his shows that we have been to, this was the cream of the crop!!! We didn’t get vip, so we were a bit concerned about having ample room to shake it loose… but we landed a killer table with plenty of space and the most AMAZING server to boot! Amanda KILLEDIT!!! We just drank water all night, but we were never without. She was on top of it. and dont worry we paid her! The venue itself is super intimate. I felt like we were in a big family room just hangin out, listening to a killer set by the world famous nectar! It was A. Mazing! And another thing… I bought tickets for another show that we weren’t able to make it to. The tickets were will call only and I was having a really hard time figuring out how to sell them on Craigslist. I contacted the box office manager of the belly up(her name is Amanda, also) and she handled it effortlessly. When I came to the Bassnectar show, I found her and thanked her for all her help, and she was Super busy, but still took the time to give me a hug and just add that personal touch. This place gets 10 stars from me! ALLDAY!!!

I been everywhere, man. Not really. But I have been to a lot of places. This is one of my favorite music venues that I’ve ever been to. Maybe the best one ever. At least for an indoor show. We saw Minus the Bear and Everest. Had no problem getting right up next to the stage, one person from the stage floor. Had no problems getting back to the bar, either. Or the bathroom. Super convenient. There were maybe 250 people there, so maybe that was why. Capacity is something like 450, I think. Ron Zacapa?! Are you kidding me? One of the best rums you will find at a bar, I was so excited when I found out they had it. I had it on the rocks. Heavy pours. Loved it.

Belly Up in Aspen is about as perfect as you can get. There is nothing bad I have to say about this place. It’s worth the drive and the cost of a room to stay overnight if you are coming from out of town. If you really love a band, you won’t want to miss them here. You can get up close and personal with the band. I literally stood underneath moe. and have some amazing pics to show off. One of the band members even turned his fan onto me because I was dripping more sweat than he was from dancing! There is no other venue that is as intimate as this. It’s not just because of how small it is either, it’s that the stage is a few feet off the ground. The small floor area directly in front of the stage is general admission. Above that there are raised levels with bar tables and booths. This is the reserved area which was scored a spot in. Looking onto the band from up there was super fun, because you are still so close. We had amazing servers that kept our drinks full the entire show. There was enough room to dance up there too. I never went to the bar because we had such great servers so I can’t comment on them. I keep my eye on the schedule now by following their facebook page and plan on doing more shows here in the future. There are so many great bands that play here before they come to Denver or Boulder so you can make a run of it! The only thing is that this creates weekday shows at the Belly Up because the bands play on the Front Range over the weekends.

Call me old and boring but I’m so over the mosh pit days. I like to see live music in a venue where I can sit down, order a nice beverage(preferably a little bubbly) and relax while listening to some live tunes. The Belly Up is an awesome music venue. Seriously intimate, laid back and fun. We saw Jane’s Addiction here on NYE and it was the perfect beginning to 2012! It’s large enough to feel like a party but small enough where there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Definitely worth checking out while in Aspen!

Great venue for live music. There is a raised level with bars surrounding the main area –which could be used a s dancefloor or pack in the crowds for a sellout show. Granted it is a bit of a drive from Metro Denver– but if you find yourself up in the mountains for a couple days– check the schedule for this venue as it hosts top acts in a great atmosphere. Being that is IS Apen it seems that everything is laid back but upscale. The Belly Up fits this description as well.
