I usually go to this location all the time. The yogurt is delicious but today I had a negative staff experience. My husband and I got to the store at 11:15 pm and were told the store was closed and that they closed at 11 despite the website and past experience indicating this location was open until 12 am. The girl working had already packed everything up and was refusing to let us purchase anything. She ultimately let us use the yogurt machines, but that is all and acted quite inconvenienced. I don’t appreciate being lied to about when a store closes. I expect better, honest service from this usually very pleasant establishment.

I get made fun of every time I come here by whoever I’m with because I can’t control myself with all their options. I usually end up with 3 different frozen yogurt flavors and so many toppings that it’s a mission just to keep it all in the cup.

Went here on the way home from a friend’s place on the other side of Astoria. They have really great options and the flavors are delicious (I think I sampled all of them). I ended up with half nutella and half peanut butter, both of which were insanely good. They have great toppings as well and they keep it nice and clean. Staff were upbeat and friendly. Also, the spoons they give you are very hearty and I thought that was a nice touch. Definitely going back for more fro-​yo!

I have been trying to make a delicious creation with dunk yo cookies for three weeks now & each time I go (I’ve tried three times) it’s always out!
I went yesterday and made a different sub par creation & the toppings were all messy & picked over. It felt as if this was a clearance sale the way things were all jumbled together, messy & out of stock.
I hate inconsistency & this chain location should provide me the same experience that I have elsewhere at other 16 Handles and it does not.

This place ALWAYS smells like spoiled milk… its very strange, definitely not the smell you want when you are trying to order milk products

Ah, it’s that season. It’s where you get froyo because you think it’s healthier than icecream, then you top it with everything from cheesecake bites to snickers bars and defeat the whole purpose. 16 Handles is the place to do that.
This Astoria location is pretty good for a number of reasons; the staff is friendly and courteous, the place is kept pretty clean considering the number of kids who come in and take advantage of free samples, and froyo and toppings are kept stocked. I’m sure things get crazier in the peak of summer, but for now, I approve.
Some of the flavors currently include Eurotart, cake batter, graham cracker, pecan praline, peanut butter, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, a few fruit sorbets, and at least half a dozen other ones I can’t remember.
As for toppings, everything from fruits to popping bubbles, caramel turtles, cheesecake bites, brownie bits, lots of cookies and candy bars/​pieces, and of course, the classic sprinkles. But if you’re like me and all you care about is mochi pieces, then fear not, they have that too.
Just be wary of the fact that at the peak of summer, this place collapses to a place of chaos and pandemonium, attracting the most raucous of kids, Greek princesses, and douchey gelled — hair muscular types. But let’s not fault 16 Handles for that, the froyo is pretty darn good.

Went with the kiddies and loved the variety! Clean parlour and pleasant lighting while you delight in the delicious varieties of Yo-​Go.
Pecan, green apple and traditional chocolate are just a few of the delightful delicacies called Yo-​Go. Bubbles, fruit, mochi and many other sweets to add as toppings, about 24 in all! Tuesday was b1g1 free, so my diet was off. Lol

Absolutely love this place!!! Entering the store bright colors such as pink and bright green greet you. There are various sections and levers in the back of the yogurt joint that releases an array of flavors into your cup! It’s self serve so you have options whether to be a glutton or not lol. My nieces and nephew went on the town with the amounts they received;) In the front next to the register there is a display of endless amounts of sweet condiments to top as well. I ended up with graham crumbles and cinnamon streusel on my birthday cake and green tea yogurt. The best part is that they provide a card for you to register online to gain points. Woohoo it adds up to free yogurt!!! I have revisited twice within 3 days. I believe I will be back again tomorrow. Lol besides they provide nutrition facts and from what I had gathered and calculated it’s quite healthy in moderation :)

Clean interior and the staff was friendly. I think Sixteen Handles is one of the better FroYo chains… it tastes creamy and not ice-​y like some FroYo. They’re also open late which is a plus.

I absolutely love that they have Green Tea Vanilla froyo. The green tea is super refreshing and serves as a great palate cleanser.
I wish they had more fruit options as opposed to the chocolatety toppings. Some berries or mangoes would be nice! (:

Just moved into the area and if your from around here you’ll know that there are many Fro-​Yo places in Astoria. 16 Handles is one of the better ones on my list!
Pros: A lot of different flavors to choose from. Large variety of toppings. Great Tasting yogurt.
Cons: The actual machines that hold and dispense the yogurt don’t always keep the yogurt cold enough which means sometimes my favorite flavors are coming out as a liquid. Need to work on consistency of yogurt.

Yup, froyo and finally a few of these out in Astoria. It’s an all around 3-​star business. Nothing extraordinary and no complaints. Good ol artificial sweetener just overflowing out of machines with a few insignificant pieces of pseudo-​fresh fruit to make you feel less guilty, That’s the recipe for a froyo business and the 16 Handles out in Astoria whips it up without any trouble.
Flavors are always pretty good and taste exactly like the flavors they are supposed to be. I hate the froyo places where no matter what flavor they have it still just tastes like plain tart.
Anyway, this is a convenient spot and even though it’s supposed to be healthy, it’s essentially junk food the way I eat it so I’ll binge here more often I guess.
They don’t have a frequent flyer program though like the Yo-​Mama yogurt or whatever down the street so, who knows, it’ll be a fight to see who becomes the favorite.

I have mix feelings about 16 candles, let’s start with the good for the most part the stuff it’s friendly, they always welcome you with a smile, easy in and out and it’s near my home.
The not so good, not enough space to eat your frozen yogurt while in the shop, the stations aren’t really that clean, would it hurt to go every hour to just make it look decent, I’m sure it would make a big difference. Also last time i was there the cashier was looking at me some sort of way, not in a nice way either. Dude is lucky i left my Bushwick ways behind me lol seriously.
Aside from the good and the bad, decent stuff nothing that wowed me but I’ll be back, no terminator.

Totally digging the the vegan fro yo vanilla and coconut water based sorbet named coco loco. The service here and at the other stores has been quite quite good.
There is a weekday Noon to 2 BOGO deal I hope to try very very soon with a friend joining me. Though i could certainly finish off two myself LOL
Recommend getting the rewards card as it gives you a $ 25 credit once you activate it online.
Want cookie crumbles always available here and at the other locations for a whip it with strawberries.

Can you get better healthy cold treat than Froyo when it is sunny and in the 80s outside? In such a bright and nice décor. The view to all the passing shoppers and the couches make for a nice touch. Three things to note: hard to find a seat especially during the busy season, don’t pack the cup with two much it will cost you by the pound and putting in so many different flavors takes the flavor away from one or two good ones (especially when melted). I’m just a straight fruit, fudge and those bursting bubbles person, not much for the candies and chocolate toppings.
I like that each is lightly tart with an extra kick from Euro Tart. I also like Pistachio because it has a light gentle flavor (Pomegranate is along the same taste). And the light green (or light red) makes for a nice appearance. I also like Mocha but it’s flavor is just like something from the frozen section of a supermarket. I really like the strawberry bursting bubbles as a topping, like little water balloons with flavor you pop in your mouth, almost like fruity caviar, only dislike is that some have a aftertaste.
Street parking is not so easy to find but there’s Municipal parking down the street, this is Steinway of course, a highly heavily traffic area.
Really fun place to hangout and great enjoy with the kids!

Ever since they got rid of my Salted caramel out hadn’t been the same. Great location in Astoria. So if you r looking to indulge in something sweet but not to many calories, stop in.

This is probably the best location of the many I’ve been to, mostly because it’s been empty every single time.
Other than that, it’s the same delicious fake frozen yogurt you would expect. It’s a great option for a lighter dessert after a good meal at a number of the excellent restaurants on this strip. For example, after consuming a ton of beef at Butcher Bar across the street, come here for some of the Graham Cracker Frozen Yogurt for some good refreshment.
If you don’t like supporting chains, check out the very similar Mama Frozen Yogurt down the block. Either way, you are guaranteed some tasty froyo.

My girlfriend turned to me in the car and said let’s do FroYo. At first I excitedly thought that FroYo was the hottest new position for the boudoir. She said no silly it’s frozen yogurt and 16 Handles is what I’m craving. At least this is how it went in my mind…
Every 15 to 20 or so years in NYC a plethora of FroYo joints open and promptly close not unlike the life cycle of the Cicada. The Cicadas however are slightly less annoying. In any case, unlike the aforementioned Cicada 16 Handles is a welcome addition to my Astoria ‘hood and I visit regularly with my munchkin. If you are into FroYo the 30^th Ave location is as good as it gets. My munchkin is partial to the Birthday Cake flavor while I find myself «Jonesing» for ‘Graham Cracker’ – yummilicious as my 5 year old says! The toppings are plentiful as are the smiles from the staff. What else can one ask from a FroYo joint other than immediately upon ingestion the fat shouldn’t lay perminantly dormant in the derrière?

My 16 Handles affair began 2 years ago in the East Village. Being a long-​time PinkMango fanatic, I didn’t like 16 Handles. Sure, I loved that they had a huge variety of flavors to choose from but did I like any of them? Nope.
When it comes to froyo, I have a strong dislike for any flavors other than tart and pomegranate because the rest all taste artificial. I didn’t exactly jump all over the place when 16 Handles came to Astoria but since I’ve joined Planet Fitness about 2 months ago and didn’t want to make that boring trip to Red Mango, I’ve been frequenting 16 Handles.
I’ve always loved the fun atmosphere of 16 Handles and looks like there’s a whole lot more options of toppings since I’ve last visited one. They have lychee topping, which is a plus! They’ve also added a few fun flavors like egg nog (too sweet for my liking) and coffee. Unfortunately, my old stamp card has no value as they’ve also switched to swipe cards but I think I’m finally hooked after all these years!
