We had a nice lunch here recommended by a local. Good prices and outstanding service. Our server called me sweetie… that is my «term of endearment» so I ate it up… along with the Greek Gyro that was quite tasty. I loved sitting next to the table of locals and receive the same quality of service that they did… highly recommend. OH and this place has been in operation for way longer then I have been around!

Curses, foiled again! Hoping to avoid the usual rip off of waterfront dining, we elected to try Andrew and Steve’s, which the sign tells us has been in business since 1916, so it must be good, right? The food was unremarkable, except for the fish and chips, to which I will make this remark: 3 bites of halibut on a bed of french fries does not a fish and chips meal make. We learned from a local that Stephanie’s, the sister restaurant downtown is better, but that is the lefthandedest compliment.

My boyfriend and I dropped into Andrew and Steve’s for lunch. The décor is nothing to write home about, but the reason for that is because this is a «greasy spoon» kind of place with good, comforting food and lots of locals in the booths. He ordered a gyro off the«Greek» section of their menu, and enjoyed it thoroughly! I had their«oyster stew», which turned out to be more of an oyster chowder, but was really good. The oysters were tender, not tough or chewy and the rich creamy broth was great on a chilly coastal day. It came with some over-buttered, fried bread but that was alright too. Don’t go if you’re looking for atmosphere, but if you just want something to stick to your ribs and to listen to the waitresses gossip, this is your place!

We had a very nice lunch here. They serve several Greek menu items, and I ordered the dolmas. Except for a couple of them being not completely thawed, they were yummy. Lots of dolmas, some tasty rice, and a really good cole slaw. Our server was very pleasant.

The food was okay, but the watermelon served with my sandwich had already been eaten by someone — teeth marks and all. They also short changed me $ 5

Astoria, notorious for having zero places to dine, surprised me with this place. Knowing that I had a nearly 2 hour drive before I would return to civilization, I stopped at this place because it looked like it had something to offer. Upon entering, a sign directed us to ‘seat ourselves’ and we promptly did. We got menus from a tired looking waitress and she took our drink order. Then another waitress came over and asked what we wanted to drink, indicating we had a new server. OK. I order the Seafood Casserole, as it boasted(on the menu) as being the most often ordered item. It was described as: halibut, scallops, and shrimp in chowder base baked with cheese on top. It included a salad. I also ordered the«famous» cheese bread. My old man simply got a hamburger and a cup of clam chowder. So the salad arrived to my table before I had finished telling the waitress what dressing I wanted. It was decent. My man’s chowder was good, but not as good as the stuff I make. Now, the cheese bread. Wow. DELICIOUS. If you eat here, you MUST order this stuff. It’s a cream cheese and other cheese mixture on french bread all browned to gooey deliciousness. Yum. Burger was a burger. Fries were boring. The seafood casserole… eh. It was ok. At first I thought that they really did just use the chowder base, but when I found clams and potatoes in the dish, I knew they had cheated and that made me like it less. It was ok in flavor, but it was basically seafood chowder, not a casserole. It cost $ 12.95 and although it was filling, it was a small portion. The bread that accompanied it was not eaten as I was focused on the cheese bread. In terms of service – it wasn’t horrible. It was obviously a locals’ joint as everyone seemed to know each other. There were some very unfriendly looking girls in a booth nearby that sneered when I walked past. We were slightly neglected towards the end of the meal because our waitress was chatting with these ruffians. I’d return if I were super hungry and in Astoria.

Great little diner with fresh seafood! They also have an awsome hot roast beef sandwich with yummy brown gravy. Finish off with church lady pie!

The food was edible but the portions were a little weird — huge on some meals and not that great on others. Also, the smell of cigarette smoke permeated the place. I don’t know the rules on smoking in Oregon but I looked around and did not see anyone smoking, so I think we may have been sitting near the break room? Not sure but it was plenty weird. If I have the occasion to eat lunch in Astoria again, I will probably go somewhere else.

First off, Astoria Oregon is a great town to begin with… Then you have these mom and pop restaurants that make it all worth while. My waffle with marionberry was really great… I could’ve eaten it all over again.

You can’t get a better breakfast in Astoria than at Andrew & Steve’s. It’s been around for a long time, and the absolute deliciousness of their food is their legacy. I had a simple breakfast of bacon, eggs and a heap of hashed browns, and a few bites of waffle with marionberry syrup. Wonderful! The booth seats are well worn and you sink into them like your grandmother’s couch. The scene out the window is interesting with a riding mower shop and old men test-driving them up and down the street. Their coffee is hot and tasty, and their service is … interesting. The waitress was a little huffy and too busy to bother; but what else can you expect when you’ve worked there since high school?

The waitress was a bit surly, the booth was not very comfortable, my son’s milk took too long to be delivered and our breakfast was quite good and quickly prepared. If you want breakfast in Astoria, visit this place… you won’t be disappointed.
