Astoria Bank

this bank once slipped me a phone $ 100 bill in brooklyn when i withdrew $ 800 from teller. i went back and complained and asked for them to pull the footage but they refused. needless to say i closed all my checking accounts accept my IRA. they still call me time to time and send letters asking me to open accounts. fat chance. they stole $ 100. i will stick with Td bank.

Great location. Über friendly staff!!! The notary was very helpful and Rita helped me open the account when I got here! ATM had never been broken when I have used it — going on two years!!!

Astoria Federal is my go to ATM bank. It is in between my apartment and the train, Key Food, shops, etc., so when cash is needed, Astoria Federal is my choice.
They seem to have Banker’s hours; 9 to 3, but since I only use their ATM it does not affect me. The ATM now has the slide in and out bank card reader. They use to have a bank card reader that took the whole card in. You know the type; the one that sucks that card in and may or may not return your card.
Talk to my wife about this one. hahahahahaha!
I might be getting old, but I remember the days where using an ATM machine with your bank’s ATM card was an amenity. Now everyone wants a piece of the action. So your bank charges you $ 2.50 or so and Astoria Federal charges another $ 2.50; total $ 5 if your taking out a $ 100.
I don’t know about you, but my Loan Shark only charges 2.5 points. Cheaper than a bank. Then again for one or two weeks only :) No offense «Nicky Break my Bones» :)
Day ²³⁄₃₀ — «June Challenge: A-​B-​C!»

I am not an Astoria Federal customer but I live near this location and consequently I was considering becoming one. On this particular occasion, I just needed some cash so I stopped at the Astoria Federal ATM on my way home.
I walked up to the ATM located outside on the sidewalk, slid my card in to the slot and
PLOP!
I heard my card drop in to the abyss. Gone! The screen was still patiently waiting for me to enter my card to send me through it’s series of prompts. Of course it was Saturday night and the bank wont be open again until the following Monday. So here I was, stuck without any money and now stuck without my only debit card.
Seriously frustrating. I tried to warn the guy behind me but some people have to learn lessons for themselves… PLOP! I digress.
My two stars rating isn’t because I never got my card back. I understood when they told me that by law they had to destroy my card when I didn’t pick it up in the allotted acceptable amount of time — blah, blah, blah.
My two star rating comes from the total lack of concern that this bank’s broken ATM was a complete inconvenience to me. How about an apology? One small, «I am so sorry that happened to you» would have been enough. I wanted to like this place. It wouldn’t have taken much to make me a loyal fan. Service Recovery! That’s all I am sayin’

They have a broken ATM machine that they have yet to fix; an otherwise friendly staff.
