The old adage you get what you pay for rings true at this Motel 6 location. Needed a place reasonably priced and clean for a quick overnight business trip. Didn’t need anything fancy or luxurious. There was a disclosure on our bill stating that this location is independently owned and operated under a franchise agreement. Maybe that is why this location is so bare bones. First of all, there was no soap in our room. I can accept no bath soap but not even a bar to wash your hands?!? I walked over to the office and asked if I could get a bar of soap. While I was there, I inquired if I could also get a box of tissues. I was informed that they do not normally provide tissues. The toilet paper holders are rusty. Not even an alarm clock to be found. However, there is a large screen television. The main reason I did not give this place a 1 star was because they had a decent shower. Plenty of hot water! There is free coffee/tea available in the office lobby from 7 to 9. Overall, the room is clean. But can’t say much more then that.

Pros: This is a diamond in the rough. It looks like any roadside motel. While checking in, I asked to use the bathroom and found a pretty serviceable indoor pool. I exited the back door and found a breath taking view of the waterfront. We stayed in room 210, the north-facing second floor, which had amazing views of the Astoria-Megler bridge. You can also spot the Riverfront Trolley, which we hopped on for $ 1 to carry us closer to downtown and back to the hotel(also a very scenic ~1 mile stroll along the water, but after a long day of walking, hitching a ride is appealing). The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, hot showers, safe rooms, free coffee. Cons: The wifi can be slow at peak times and the outlets in our room were sparse.

Standard hotel. Clean. Competitive rates. The views of the bridge from the second floor, river side, are nice. Walking distance from Astoria’s main run. Sparse breakfast snacks and coffee. Stumbling distance from two great dive bars. All in all, a worthy spot for those not wanting to spend $ 100+ a night.

Add to my review that their antiquated stairs grabbed my shoelace and tripped me going down the stairs. I’m handicapped but there are no handicapped rooms available. They have only one handicapped spot. So I struggled up the stairs. And it tripped me coming down This was after I nearly filled my glass with the ice in this picture which is covered in mold. Lowering the rating due to this.

It was supposed to be smoking free. Embedded cigarette smell welcomed me in the room. The front desk gave another room. But for $ 130 per night, I think I can find a far better one. I found a used hand towel on the air conditioner which I don’t want to know why it was there at the first place. Empty soda can on the shelf in the closet? Someone dropped a pill on the carpet next to the bed and it was still there when we got in. Has anyone actually vacuummed this room? Someone isn’t doing a job properly. Room was clean but I have stayed far cleaner and better rooms at around $ 60. I was not impressed will not return.
