Bagels On The Ave

First of all, the people that work there are ghetto trash. They have the absolute worst customer service skills. Rude as fuck! Now, do you want people like this making your food? Eek! Me thinks not.

This is my absolute favorite bagel place! Try one of their speciality cream cheeses, or flavored coffees, they’re delicious. Quick and friendly service. I have never had a problem with Bagels on the Ave and I’ve been coming here frequently for over a year.

Lox and cream cheese on fleek. Big breakfast combo also very much on fleek.

They never ever get anything right. If you order a coffee with extra sugar you’ll get a coffee with no sugar. If you order a muffin with toasted with butter they’ll do whichever they want, but not both, Then when you call to complain they couldn’t care less … They never get it right and I was willing to keep giving them a chance. But today I’ve had it. I had to go out and get sugar after paying almost 20 $ for 2 coffee and a muffin that I requested to have butter and be toasted (it came toasted only) then when I called the meat head who picked up the phone didn’t care that they messed up. It’s okay. Got sugar. And you’ve lost a long time client. Not that you care…

Great food and impeccable service. Sad to say their delivery crew falls short, they are the nastiest bunch I’ve ever encountered!

Been here several times in the last year. The bagels are a ⁴⁄₁₀ on the NYC scale. They are fine if your are in a hurry. I generally avoid this place for anything else after being charged $ 5 for a bec (bacon egg cheese). Today I walked by and thought why not.
11am, no one on line my order is taken promptly. Then while by bagel is toasting the cook grabs his phone and tries to keep it low so the customers can’t see it. But I’m not dumb I could see the light reflecting of his face. My bagel has now come through the toaster but our cook now feels compelled to tell a joke to the grill cook rather than preparing my food. I’m fine with everything till…
Strike 1. He grabs my bagel without changing his gloves. The same phone he brings to bathroom, drops on the floor is now contaminating my breakfast. Now this is NYC so I’m not freaking out too bad yet…
Strike 2. He grabs a junk of cream cheese and with no grace or care slaps it in the middle of my bagel. Not a thought to spreading it. So when I grab the bagel half the cc falls to the ground. Absolutely no cc on the outer ¹⁄₃ at all. A pet peeve of mine.
Strike 3. I’m waiting at the counter with a hand full of napkins and I said to the guy twice while he is packing my bagel I don’t need a bag. But he is enjoying himself with his coworkers, and of course he grabs a wad of napkins and shoves them into a bag with my bagel.
A lot of my favorite places to eat in NY have so so service but the have amazing product. This place has average bagels and poor service. Go to Brooklyn bagel it’s worth the 10 minutes of your life.

The muffins here are pretty phenomenal. Huge and not dry at all. The bagels are also pretty solid — egg everything is my favorite.
Took one star off because (a) in-​store ordering is chaotic, even though it could be easily alleviated and (b) they take liberties in making substitutes on Seamless orders without notification that they don’t have a particular item and allowing you to make a choice.

Owner is disrespectful and does not know how to run a business.

Made a super large order for breakfast before a group road trip. Everything was thought of. Every condiment needed and the order was perfect. Pretty fast delivery too.

I tried this place for the first time. Not worth the trouble. Bad service. There are better places in Astoria. I ordered via seamless and waited over 90 minutes. Was told 30 – 40 minutes. I could have showered gotten dressed and had breakfast out in this time.
I called to check on the status and the manager was rude. Done for good. I would rather wait in line at a place that understands customer service than order another item from these places.
Save yourself the trouble. I should have. I read the reviews and still gave them a chance. Don’t make my mistake.

I ordered breakfast from here today. I ordered a bagel with philly cream cheese. When I opened it, it had cream cheese and jelly on it. I called the store and told the man who answered and he seemed kind of bothered by my phone call. Even the delivery guy wasn’t polite. This is the first and last time I’ll be ordering from here

My wife and I have been supporting this business for over 20 years. I won’t be using this business again. Not because of the food, but because of the customer service. I checked on an order placed online, from their own website. Abruptly I was told, and consequently hung up on mid-​sentence, that I must have ordered from the wrong store, they didn’t have the menu choices I ordered, and that I must be mistaken because all their receipts were taken care of. I would gladly take the blame for this if the mistake were mine, but the confirmation Email I received echoed the right addresses ours and theirs. I can forgive a bad recipe once in a while, but a bad and disrespectful attitude I cannot.

The bagels are always fresh and tasty. Coffee is always hot and perfect. The staff is extremely friendly and over time knows what you wants and makes it when you walk in with out asking. Love this place

I loved Hot Bagels, the original bagel place with the original owner. It was tiny but the bagels were to die for. Now, this place, where do i begin.
The new manager has 0 people skills. The bagels are ok but not what they used to be. Mini bagels have been stale the majority of times i was there. I now know if the basket is not full then most likely they are not fresh.
There is CONSTANT chaos on weekend mornings. There are 2 lines but no one knows where to go because there are no signs so after someones figure out they are on the wrong line 15 min have have passed.
Their breakfast is good but all in all there are other places in Astoria with the same exact menu with better service.

Clean place, good service (better than Brooklyn bagel lately). The bagels are soft and I like the cc. It’s a pretty good alternative to Brooklyn bagel, especially if you don’t feel like waiting in line and want something quick. The everything bagel could be more «everything» haha. It is kinda skimpy. I like the cinnamon raisin bagel. I like the French vanilla iced coffee too. All in all, a okay!

I’ve been here a few times to grab bagels. Once I ordered take out sweet potato fries — they would have been awesome if they did not cover them with a lid, it was soggy by the time I got home. When I had the fries dine-​in, they were very crispy.
Their strawberry cream cheese is divine.
I come here at odd times, so I can’t comment on the morning service.

I still recommend this place for their bagels, they are amazing!
I just don’t like how they’ve changed.
There has been multiple times where I have ordered a bagel with butter or cream cheese and I would just get a bagel with nothing in it.
As for the butter, they have gotten VERY cheap with it. Seriously, wtf!!! If I wanted a dry bagel I would say «just a bagel nothing on it». They put very little butter to none. Its very irritating when I go bite into a bagel and its dry. Why am I paying for a buttered bagel when half a table spoon isnt even put in the bagel!!!
Oh and let me not forget, a couple of times I have seen theM scoop out the butter with a spoon.
There has also been multiple times where I would get someone elses order… completely different from what I have ordered.
Bring back the butter and get my orders right… and then I will be back.
By the way, a greet hello and good bye as well as a «thank you» goes a long way. Just saying.

If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. I ordered breakfast this morning with my boyfriend just before 9 AM and it was confirmed by the restaurant a few minutes after I placed my order with an approximate delivery time of 45 – 60 mins.
After about just over an hour of waiting, I called up the restaurant to find out what the deal was. The man that answered, to my horror, said «We never received the order. You need to call Seamless.» Are you kidding me? The order was confirmed by YOUR restaurant, otherwise I would NOT have received an email and Seamless would have called me right away. Complete BS!
So, I called Seamless. Luckily, they have a top-​notch customer service and reached out to the restaurant while I was on the line. After the woman got back on the phone with me, she informed me the restaurant said they «just sent out the food 10 mins ago». At that point, I just wanted a refund. I had to leave for work in 10 minutes and after waiting almost 2 hours, I no longer wanted it.

This place is decent if you want your bagel fast to go. I think because it was peck hours of the day but the staff was too busy to even make sure I paid before I got my food. That was a but sloppy to give me the food then forget to ask for payment or even give me a price. The menu is oddly placed. The bagel itself was decent but not amazing. But the size of the bagel was perfect. The place is kind of small so it gets crowded fast.

good NY bagels, nice people. Lunch sandwiches are great too
