Came here for brunch after the massive snow storm we got. Based on the great reviews and close proximity to my apartment, decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. The food was great! Bottomless brunch is always the way to go, and my food came out shortly after the drinks, so if you’re starving, don’t stress, they are super quick. Has a biscuits and gravy. Its was yummy, a little heavy, but yummy. I would definitely be back based on what I has and can’t wait to try more items offered on the menu. Service was a bit slow, but they were slammed because everywhere else around the area was closed because of the snow. Nonetheless, already looking forward to my next visit.

Another one of the more quality restaurants and bars on Stephgrid’s Queens Beer Book crawl. We were at the end of near our visit limit a few weeks back and starving. Plopped down and investigated the beer menu. They were one of few in probably all of New York that had the Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island, clocking in at 13.8% and being of an incredibly limited batch. It tasted like an honest to god little tumbler of cold smokey sweet bourbon. Heaven. Other beers I had were the Fulton Street Blend Coffee Ale also by Goose and the Hangry Bock by Peekskill. Neither beer was as impressive as that bourbon stout but delicious in their own ways. Bartender was pretty kind and convinced us into trying their food, which I’m really glad we did because the Lobster Truffle Mac and cheese. .. .. . I tasted truffle oil in the back of my throat the next day and kept having dreams about it. This wasn’t skimpy. I’ve had super I feel like I was robbed because you put in only a few flakes of lobster macaroni before but there were decent sized large chunks, it was super creamy, and the truffle oil with the cheese just went SODAMNWELLTOGETHER. The fries we had on the side were just a-okay. But they were crispy. Other things to take note of and that may lure me back in the not so far distant future: they have a wait for it — whiskey and cigar night on occasions. The tickets are only $ 10 and I’m not sure what it entails but I’m betting that’s your ticket for at least the cigar part. I also noticed after the fact that they have a pretty awesome sounding brunch: $ 10 bottomless brunch on top of your food which is not horribly priced and many dishes involve eggs, cheese and truffle oil. Sold. I also left an additional tote bag I was carrying around here upon my visit and the people were kind enough to hold it and make note of it when I came back to pick it up. Not just a great beer spot but also a great whiskey and hidden oasis of delicious food.

Very cozy ambiance. Good beer selection. Friendly staff. Just came for drinks so can’t comment on the food but judging by the menu looks like a good, fresh selection.

I stopped by to take out a burger on the way home. Ordered medium rare but the burger was way overcooked, would probably say that it was well done. Not sure how that happens, especially given how empty the place was. Just wanted to grab something on the way home, won’t make the mistake again

This place has great service, food and cocktails. They also have a very extensive whiskey selection and offer flights. The chef/owner really takes time and consideration when it comes to preparing and creating dishes. Awesome job!

What a cool place for a drink or bite to eat! A couple of us had purchased the Queens Beer Book and stopped here to redeem our coupons for a beer. We sat at a table inside even though they had outdoor seating. We ordered a round of drink, a friend and I ordered the wine-erita which was malbec, tequila, and lime juice. It sounded better than it tasted even though it was nice and strong. For our beer selection, one of us ordered a Genneesee beer, my hubby tried a chocolate beer, I ordered the Abita strawberry beer, and another ordered an Allagash white. They were all pretty good, except my husband didn’t like the chocolate beer so I switched with him. All in all, a nice place with a cool waiter.

Stopped in on a Friday night with a couple friends for a few drinks. As a native Rochesterian I fell in love with the place as soon a I saw they have cans of Genesee. Out of obligation I ordered a can of Genny($ 3) as well as a wine cocktail. I must say at $ 3 a can you can infer what the quality of the Genny is but as I already mentioned I always feels obligated to drink then when I see them on a menu. I must admit it tastes 100 times better when on draught. The wine cocktail was a mixture of Malbec and tequila. It wasn’t the tastiest thing I’ve ever drank but it was pretty strong. Our server was super friendly, attentive, and knowledgable of all the different types of beers. It wasn’t overly crowded, which I prefer personally but there were a handful of people between inside and outside. I’m not sure exactly what everyone else got but I know there were chocolate and strawberry beers ordered that were a hit. This place has outdoor and indoor seating. Unfortunately we didn’t have food here but the menu looks very good and the place smelled great. I’d definitely come back and dig into some food next time!

I haven’t had the best experience with this place in the past, but my boyfriend and I were starving, so we went against our better judgement because it was close and was air-conditioned. The menu is limited and it was difficult for me to find something that appealed to me. Finally, I just settled for steak frites and my boyfriend ordered pork chops. When the food finally arrived, he received the pork belly sandwich instead. They took it back and prepared the entrée he ordered. However, he had to sit there and watch me eat my entire dinner before his came out. The bartender brought him out a $ 4 well drink to «make up for it.» When the check arrived, NOTHING was comped. Our 2 drinks were still on the bill and I had to explain to the bartender(as he seemed to be the one in charge at the moment) that, although it was a nice gesture, a $ 4 drink was not enough to make up for the terrible experience we had and that our other 2 drinks(for $ 8) should at least be comped. He gave me a little bit of an attitude as though I was asking for too much, but ultimately comped the drinks. And yes, the steak was overly salted and the fries were dry.

I’ve been coming here a few times for brunch. The menu is $ 15 for a dish and comes with a Mimosa or Bloody Mary, with juice or coffee. If you want unlimited Mimosa or Bloody Mary for 2 hours it will be $ 10. Beers aren’t included in the deal but they have a nice selection. The Bloody Mary comes in a small mug with mix, barely any alcohol, and one tiny olive as it is part of the brunch«deal.» The food is always well prepared and fresh. The food does err on the salty side however and sometimes way too heavy handed on the salt. The bland under-dressed salad that comes with everything does help cut the salt. We usually stick with the same stuff on the menu, the cajun frittata, the salmon and eggs, or the steak and eggs. The way it is set up, it is definitely a eat brunch and have one drink kind of place. A bit of a bore but ok for a lazy weekend when I don’t want to walk too far.

Pleasantly surprised by the great food here. The thoughtful and creative menu and(more importantly) well executed entrees far exceeded my pub food expectations. A happy addition to the neighborhood. Pork chop and lamb tacos were awesome.

i’ve never eaten at bowery, but based on a few of the recent reviews, i probably wouldn’t. several months ago, a friend ordered the lobster mac ‘n cheese.(why anyone would order lobster — of any sort or style — here is a mystery to me.) he said it was pretty bad. i’ve hung out at the bar a number of times, and have always enjoyed the vibe and drinks. other than a burger or something really simple, i’d be reluctant to eat here. then again, i can’t speak from first-hand experience. drinking here, however, is another story, and for that, bowery“s a pretty cool, chill spot.

I’ve been coming here since it was bistro 33. Primary reason, biscuits and gravy. Unfortunately, service has detioriated since they switched. Before, as soon as you sit, you’d have a glass of water and utensils. Today, I has to ask for sugar as they only gave me Splenda for my coffee, and had to as for utensils, and stir my coffee with a fork. They also don’t have to go cups. Trying to give my daughter orange juice with a small cocktail straw and out of a glass is difficult. Also, why wouldn’t a restaraunt have a to go cup??? Oh yeah, and no toilet paper in the bathroom. I ordered the salmon with truffle eggs, and my wife ordered the Cajun fritata. The biscuits and gravy have turned into this spicy dish that has come with less and less gravy everytime. The eggs have turned into a salty mess. All my wife and I could taste was salt. In addition, the salad, delicious in the past, was nothing less then a salad with a load of wasabi. Needless to say, although a patron for several years, they lost our business. The little things add up and the food has become not enjoyable.

I live on the opposite side of Astoria but my boyfriend and I are starting to make a habit of coming to Bowery Bay regularly. We love the food — the weekly changing specials are always phenomenal(if you can get them before they sell out), and the regular menu is solid too. The lobster mac and cheese, the shrimp shumai, and the sloppy turkey sandwich are favorites — but we’ve yet to eat anything here we didn’t enjoy! The tasting menu they do on Tuesdays is a great deal if you want to try several small plates. The staff are also terrific, and the overall ambience of the place is wonderful — friendly and cozy. Not loud or pretentious or overly divey. It’s a great place to unwind with a beer and tasty food!

I ordered the $ 8 gumbo for delivery and got a small soup bowl that was about half filled. You would think for that kinda price they could at least give you a full bowl. This is the last time for me!

Bowery Bay, what happened? I walked in on a rainy night with my boyfriend to the near empty restaurant on a Saturday. While we don’t usually like being the only customers in a restaurant, we decided to take a chance since our past experiences have been great here. It should be noted that I haven’t been to Bowery since it switched over from Bistro, but after perusing the menu online before going in, my mouth was watering with all the delicious options laid out. However, the meal didn’t meet my expectations. I ordered the mussels, which have always been a palate pleaser in the past. The boyfriend ordered poutine with beef cheek– one of his favorites. While we were anticipating the treats we had ordered, we knocked back some delicious suds at the bar. Once the food arrived, everything seemed to be going great. After further inspection, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Half of my mussel shells weren’t open, and I was surprised that the kitchen sent them out like this. I wouldn’t think they would be in a rush, considering we were the only diners in the entire establishment. The friendly bartender politely sent them back to the kitchen, while I munched on my boyfriends plate of spuds and curds. Poutine is one of our favorite bad for you, yet oh so delicious meals, but Bowery’s take was more than underwhelming. The curds, which usually have a slight saltiness and snap, were mushy and lacking of any flavor. As for the gravy, it was more like tasteless brown water. My boyfriend was upset with his meal, and couldn’t get through half of it. Once my mussels came back, everything was good. The fries were delicious and the broth was tasty. I felt guilty that I had the better plate and shared with my beau. Throughout the meal we found ourselves making excuses for the restaurant that we used to love coming to. There were nights where my boyfriend would go down the street to Bistro and eat by himself. That’s how good the food was. Now, it seems that things have slid downhill after the revamp to Bowery Bay. With all the great options in the neighborhood, let alone NYC, I doubt we’ll be back to try the rest of the menu.

Sal the manager got the gang back together! Glad to see a bar staffed by some friendly familiar faces. Also dig the proximity to park — perfect for a post-hike drink. The menu is short and sweet, with signature touches on crowd pleasers. Décor is simple & inviting. Now gimme some more options for meat avoiders and I’ll give you that last star.
