The woman who claims to be the manager named Seren took a chunk of my eyebrow then claimed I came in that way. Since she messed up the first brow and I called her out on it she half-assed the second. I showed her photos of what my brows looked like before that clearly show no bald spot. She said my hair must be falling out! I'm beyond disappointed in how she handled it. I didn't want to be accused of theft of service so I paid her without tipping even though I think she should have gotten nothing.

I don’t even want to give a one star. I called to the place before going there because it was 20 mins before to close. I also checked the price which was $ 30 for Brazilian waxing. The lady said I can still come, so I went. When I got there everyone was leaving expect the lady. She did waxing really roughly and it super hurt. She seemed rushing to go home. While she was doing, she asked me that I want waxing my back side. And she said it’s extra $ 5. It was so annoying that she didn’t tell me when I asked the price instead was telling me while she was doing it. In addition the place is not clean at all. Please do not waist your money although it’s little cheaper than other places.

I only go to two different places to get my eyebrows threaded because I have sensitive eyes and this is one of them! I rarely have to wait, the price is amazing and the girls are quick and friendly.

They do eyebrows amazingly here. However, I just got a gel French manicure and they did a horrible job. The woman had no idea what she was doing, and she had to redo it because she messed up and had me wait there 30 minutes longer just because of it when I was in a hurry to begin with. Even when she redid them, they still look TERRIBLE! They are uneven and look messy. They charged me the normal price and they did a crappy job. Never coming back here to do my nails.

I’ve only been in Astoria for a few weeks and I’ve found many gems. This is one of them!
They are really sweet and professional, I came on a random weekday afternoon, and had my eyebrows done, they also gave me a lengthy eye area massage right after.
They did a great precise job, and I never felt rushed or hurried along. Only warm and kind vibes, I will be back.

I absolutely love this place! I have been going to this place for years and they have never disappointed me. They’re attentive, quick, thorough, and each lady is super sweet. My eyebrows always look good and I constantly get complimented on them. I’ve moved to different places within NYC, but I still always try to get my eyebrows done by them because no other place can compare.

I have been going to Dawa for approximately two years and I am very satisfied with their services. Since, I am a loyal customer their deal of the seventh free eyebrow really plays in my favor. I can trust any of the lovely ladies with my eyebrows, because they are all amazing. Best threading salon in Astoria.

Love this place! The ladies who work here are super sweet and the pricing on threading services is an absolute bargain. I think it was maybe $ 10 for eyebrow and upper lip combo! I came in with significantly overgrown eyebrows — there was no extra charge for this and I left looking great! This is definitely a no frills place but the inside was kept clean. The entrance can be a little sketchy at night, probably due to proximity to the subway station but once inside, you’re good! I’ll be back the next time I need a touch up.

I went in today for a manicure and pedicure. When I walked in, both employees were busy and said they could do the mani/​pedi once finished in fifteen minutes. So I said sure I’ll wait. Customers strolled in one-​by-​one and the employees say, «We’ll do you after this customer.» I said sure. Forty minutes go by and I’m losing my patience. I ask, «Am I next?» and they say «Yes.» Once finished with the customer whom I was supposed to be after, they say «It will take time.» By this point, I had been waiting an HOUR. DO NOT WASTE MY TIME. That is plain disrespectful. If you are busy for a mani/​pedi SAY SO and I’ll leave. What’s more, I reached BEFORE any of the other people they decided to put before me. They don’t respect you or your time, clearly. So take your money ELSEWHERE. And what’s worst I didn’t get an apology, instead all I get is silence and a SMIRK.

I’m super particular about my eyebrows and I know I can always trust the ladies at Dawa. They all do an amazing job. It’s always very calm inside (I love when they have the Indian music on!) and there is very rarely a wait. It seems like a weird location (right by the train, up dingy apartment stairs, etc) but you forget all of that once you are in the salon. I’ve always had a good experience here. I do kinda hate when they always ask if I also want my upper lip done but I do understand wanting to add on services.

If your coming looking for luxury don’t come and write a bad review this is a great place with hard working ladies that do a fantastic job. They always accommodate what you need and do work in a timely manner. I never worry coming here. Wonderful business!

went in for brow threading. Not only it was quit painful, it lasted longer than my usual threading experience. When the lady was done, I looked myself in the mirror and found a bold spot on my eye brow… will not return for any service.

Came here for eyebrow threading, and it was only $ 6. I have to say the entrance was a little off-​putting as it is just a door in between Carvel and Rite Aid, but once you get upstairs into the salon it is really nice and clean looking. I walked in and it was dead quiet. The woman (I am assuming is Dawa) was sitting in one of the chairs waiting for the door. She was very courteous and nice as I told her what I wanted. I have super light and sensitive skin so I usually avoid threading, but I got lazy the last few weeks and I was starting to grow caterpillars on my face. She was able to tame the beasts and get my brows looking back to normal.
I have a problem though when I can’t really open my eyes if I’m in a little pain so I couldn’t really check out my brows for a while after she finished. She gave me some aloe lotion to help with my redness and the sting as well as a little temple rub too. It was a very plesant experience.
I think I’d go back and try some of the deals; they have mani-​eyebrows for like $ 14, pedi-​brows for $ 19, I think. They don’t do the card anymore though, as noted in other reviews.

I’m obsessed with my eyebrows. Seriously I have gotten them threaded before but never as good of a job as I got done here. Just moved to Astoria and this is now my go-​to place. $ 6 for threading!!! She also applied lotion and gave me a little bit of a temple massage after. I recommend this place 100 000%!!

Very friendly and inviting salon. I usually have to wait when I go there because they’re always busy, but never for too long. The workers are gentle and give you a nice facial massage when their finished threading.
Right near the 30^th Ave train station and super convenient to my apartment! They also accept credit cards, which you can put the tip on as well.

Every time I visit it’s empty so I love that there’s never a wait!
I’ve visited threading salons that felt very unwelcoming but when you walk in here
a nice lady says «hello» first! A business employee should always say hello first when a customer walks in so i felt welcomed. I have 1 funky eyebrow i was born with. It just naturally doesn’t match the other brow but they work their magic here and shape it to match! They do such good work here.
Eyebrow threading is 6 dollars.
Upper lip threading is 4 dollars.
They also give you a card you can get signed after every visit. 7 visits and you get a free threading!
If you use a card they will charge you a tiny fee for that (around 50 cents)
and you can add your tip to the card which is convenient!
GO for a good threading in a welcoming salon!

Don’t let the location fool you.
Despite the fact that this salon is located above a Subway sandwich shop and the only access is via a grimy set of stairs, Dawa Salon is super clean, bright, and quiet.
I go to Dawa to get my face threaded, and I’m always happy with the results. Prices are reasonable, and these ladies are nothing if not thorough.
However, at times I feel as though the ladies could be a bit kinder about the way they dish up helpful criticism. They are incredibly blunt when it comes to discussing any skin blemishes or imperfections. I chalk it up to a cultural barrier, or perhaps it’s their way of driving sales, but I think there are more tactful ways of attaining the same goals.
Visiting a salon should be a positive experience — not one that makes you feel bad about yourself afterwards.
