This is NOT real New York pizza by any means. It’s very difficult to go to a pizzeria in nyc, especially in queens and get a slice that sucks. The cheese did not reach the crust, it had a Inch wide circle around the crust that was uncovered sauce. The crust itself was less than one 1 cm thick… And it was as crispy as a pretzel. I’ve had dollar pizza slices that were far superior to what they have here. Maybe I came on a bad day? Oh… the slice cost me $ 2.50.

Oh, Frankie. You’re not great, you know. In fact, you’re not even very good. But the thing is… you’re there, so close, and sometimes that’s all I’m looking for: the quickest fix. You might even be too available: it looks like you’d even respond to my late-night texts* if I ever got so desperate. You and I both know I could do better, and that my feelings for you don’t run that deep. I don’t know whether you love me, but I hope you don’t…and I’m sorry. Every morning I see your place on my way to work, lamenting the fact that what my heart desires is but a mile away** — sometimes I can’t tell whether I’m leading you on, or myself. I stopped by for barely 5 minutes last night, and you had dinner ready for me. I appreciate the effort, I really do, but the margherita slice was only just okay, and not nearly as satisfying and I think you had hoped it would be. Admittedly, I never set high expectations for you. What I did notice and commend you for is heating it up to a crispy crust, which brought us to a passable middle ground of interesting, instead of bland. The fresh mozzarella had browned ever so slightly. It was an acceptable surprise. You don’t make me regret my actions at least, though I do regret my behavior. It’s just that I’m weak once in a while, and need to quell my hunger despite my better judgement.*** You’ve never disappointed me so much that I’ll leave you for good, but I am waiting for the day someone new swoops in to take over your kitchen, and gives me a slice comparable to that of my dreams. Until then, you make it too easy.**** But please don’t make me any garlic knots, and don’t be offended when I don’t want to try anything else you’d bend over backwards to serve me for dinner. Nothing you have is all that fresh, and the garlic knots are bland. You’re a temporary, safe choice — a plain slice if there ever was one. Thank you for your crushed pepper shaker. I’m glad it shakes well. If anything, this is your shining feature. *Seamless orders ** ***At least you’re not Pizza Palace or Sbarro’s. ****Not even a credit minimum? Convenient but also a little eager-to-please.

Considering it’s basically the only late night option open for pizza in the area it isn’t too terrible. But it’s really not that great. It satisfies a good late night or drunk craving but if you want really good pizza I wouldn’t stop here. There are way better places scattered along Ditmars.

I grew up in Astoria and have many great memories of Frankie’s Pizza. I loved going here as a kid in the 70s, and I hung out here as a teenager in the 80s. If I were to write a review then, I would give this place 4 or 5 stars. I had been away for a while, but I came back there in the late 90s or early 00s. It had a new owner, and the pizza was awful. I couldn’t believe how bad it had gotten, and I would have given Frankie’s 1 star then. Recently, I walked by and noticed that the placed had been spruced up. So, I thought I’d give my old haunt a second chance. The service was nice, and the pizza was decent – not as good as my childhood/teen memories, but a vast improvement from my previous visit.

what happened to you guys the quality of your pizza is disgusting, I guess you aren’t the originals … the Frankie’s I knew was on the money … I will never order from you again. I was so unhappy with your pizza .It was delivered cold .the sauce was Dry cheese was hard the crust tasted old the toppings were few? for 22.00 dollars you sucked. Now I will have to search for a better pizza place. Frankie with this review I’M OUT!

I live in Astoria for a few years and I really like Frankie’s food. Really fresh and good taste. I’m not a big pizza eater, but the Hawaiian, and the BBQ chicken is great. Recommend this place!!!

Absurdly small slice, nearly laughable. Tastes alright, but hard to enjoy when feeling ripped off. Service friendly, looks nicer since renovation.

Love the food, but disappointed with service. Both times I’ve eaten here(one eat-in, one delivery), it’s taken forever to get a chef salad. For delivery tonight, the estimate was 35 – 45 minutes, and I waited well over an hour. After that, they did not send dressing with the chef salad. Good food, but it will be awhile before I order from here again.

I’ve been coming here since the early 80s and have such fond memories of the place. Frankie sold it years ago, but he left his recipes with the new management and there really hasn’t been any change in taste or quality. If you are a true Astorian, not some scraggly-bearded, tight-jeaned, fedora-wearing hipster doofus from the Midwest looking for organic, grass-fed mozzarella on gluten-free, 7-grain focaccia, you would know that the pizza and garlic knots at Frankie’s are the best you can ask for in New York.

We were craving pizza, and Frank’s was one of the only restaurants in astoria that deliver late, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. I ordered a small cheese and pepper pizza and it tasted like it was once frozen. The garlic knots were really tiny and kinda burned. My husband described his Calzone as «meh.» The spinach roll was okay. Meh.

All I’ve had here is the pizza and its ok. If your passing by try it the price isn’t to bad.

This might be some of the worst pizza in all of New York City. I once thought highly of it, but I was in all likelihood intoxicated following a night of drinking across the road at O’Hanlon’s. I wouldn’t even eat this after a night of drinking. My past few experiences at Frank’s were rather disappointing. Furthermore, after reading some of these reviews, I have no interest in ever returning.

Solid basic pizza. When it’s fresh it’s good otherwise you can get better. With that said I really do like the specialty slices. They are good reheated. The rolls can taste kinda oily which is gross and the reason for the low stars. Late night under the stairs, this is the spot that you hit.

I live a couple blocks away from Frankie’s and my roommate and I eat there fairly often. We enjoy using their order online option and the service is always prompt. The entrée portions are large for the price too, especially their rolls. They actually have an extensive menu which you can’t really tell from walking in. Whenever we do stop in to eat though, we get some tasty slices and with a little bit of hot sauce, it’s never a disappointment.

I went for the non-pizza options which apparently don’t get much attention, based on other reviews here. The very nice woman behind the counter strongly recommended the pepper steak(rotating entrees at the non-pizza section on the right.) I also got rice, beans and lentil soup. The pepper steak was ok, and the beans looked great but tasted ordinary. In both cases some more spice would have helped. The soup was the best item — it was nice to have some lentil soup that went beyond its eponymous bean. It was more tomato-ey and vegetable-ey than the typical example. I give 3 stars for food, adding points for late hours and amiability. Maybe next time I’ll try the pizza.

I came here to try out Pizza in Astoria. I saw this place and thought it was going to be good. Their regular slices are good. I had a grandma slice but it was totally different than what I had. Their version of a grandma slice is a big Sicilian slice with toppings on it like a grandma slice. Another thing I liked but was a downfall for my second visit was the free refills on the fountain sodas. I liked it that it was working fine the first time but the second time, there was no CO2 in the fountain soda. So basically I was drinking liquid syrup. Franks Pizza wont get my forth star because they wouldnt let me exchange my drink for a bottled drink. I see this place makes all kinda food, even breakfast in the early AM which is weird cause its a Pizza place. I dunno, if you want to try their other food on their menu, go ahead, its probably great. I will probably find another pizza place.

The only reason I’m rating this two stars instead of one is that the pizza is relatively good. I’ve given this place several tries, and I’ve never received such terrible service. It always seems like an inconvenience that I’m there. Things I’ve been told they CAN’T do: –Give me a bag –Put any topping onto a slice for me that isn’t already on –Run my credit card for under $ 6 –Give me a small cup to take home some of their hot sauce But they always have a free scowl on their faces for me! :)

Frankie’s has gone downhill. The pizza is no longer tasty, the place is no longer clean, the service is no longer good. What was once must have pizza 25 years ago is now a nasty pizza place that looks shady and serves slices of yuck.

I am hoping to gorge on some very good pizza one of these days in Astoria, but so far I have yet to find any. The search still continues as I have not succeeded at this local neighborhood joint just off of the last stop along the N/W train. The place is spacious and looks like it was an old McDonalds but the owner maintains it never was a fast food joint. Its too bad the pizza tastes like it was premade too long even though I watched the worker put the slice into the oven for the longest time. It didn’t even look appetizing as the cheese was becoming more orange than it was mozzarella white. At least the prices weren’t terrible but its too bad I can’t say the same about the pizza. It was like cardboard with cheese on it.
