I hosted a Community Thanksgiving luncheon for folks at my church. The owners and team at Jimbo’s were so easy to work with in terms of scheduling the reservation for the group and making us all feel very special with fancy flowers and trimmings at the table. All those who attended — including our favorite vegan — were so pleased with the meal. There was a great traditional American Thanksgiving platter, including wine, coffee and dessert; the vegan option was traditional Greek(gigantes, dolmades, etc.) uniquely dressed up for the special occasion. Hats off to the wonderful chef and congratulations to George and Peter on having such a wonderful place. Next stop in will have to be for one of your famous Greek Nights!

We were taken here by a Greek friend of ours who grew up in Astoria, so we knew the food was going to be great. She ordered everything for us in Greek, and we were very pleased with the GIANT platter of meat that came out. There were delicious dill meatballs, lamb, chopped liver and other assorted meats cooked well. We had some fried cheese, some pita and tzatziki, salad olives and other goodies. All of them excellent and all of the low price. We had shots of ouzo all around, and even had some shots purchased for our table on the house. It was a great time. Until… … about 11pm when the restaurant decided it was time to close the curtains and declare it a «private-party», meaning that they could get away with letting customer smoke indoors. Immediately about a dozen patrons lit up, followed by a few more, followed by cigar smokers. The restaurant was filled with thick, dense second hand smoke, making it tough to even see across to the back of the establishment. After about 20 minutes, we could not take it any more and had to leave. It’s a shame because we were rather enjoying ourselves and the live music up until that point. We won’t be back. So 5-stars for the feast, 1-star for the smoke. 3-stars.

Food is consistently good and reasonably priced! Great place to either order for delivery or go and eat. Definitely a good time when there is live music and a full house!

Well, I probably should have known not to order Greek food from a place called«Jimbo’s». I ordered the avgolemono soup and the spinach pie/Greek salad combo for delivery. Delivery was fast and courteous, however that’s where the good experience ends. Everything was bland. The soup was thin and missing that creamy, lemon kick. The spinach pie, while sturdy, was lacking seasoning. The Greek salad was delivered without the sardines mentioned on the menu. I do like that they sent lemon halves and bread with the meal, however this just didn’t do it for me. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the almost $ 20 I spent on lunch. Maybe it’s better if you eat at the actual restaurant.

I was coming home from a yoga class tonight and got a craving for a souvlaki sandwich. You know the kind: hot grilled pita with a tender, juicy kabob slathered in tzaziki with lettuce, tomato and onion? Well, just when I was hoping to run into a sidewalk cart, there was none. Ah! I remembered there was Jimbo’s nearby, so I headed over there to order one to go getting hungrier by the step. I got there and placed my order and sat at the bar. I was pretty much ignored while I waited. And waited. Waited some more and after 15 mins, when I was able to make eye contact with someone since I placed my order. I was told it would be «a few minutes,» which I believe is restaurant talk for my order not even being started yet. I left and headed over to Opa’s and left five minutes later with a hot sandwich at a lower price. I really can’t speak to the quality of the food at Jimbo’s, but their customer service is sorely lacking. If you are too busy to deal with my order, just let me know and I’ll be on my way and come back another day. After this, I’ll be on my way somewhere else from now on.

I’d never been to this restaurant before or gotten takeout/delivery but decided to try them today via Grubhub. I ordered the ‘sole’ fish I think it was called, lemon potatoes, and the ‘vegetable of the day’. The order took just over one hour to arrive which I consider a bit long. However, the fish and the potatoes were solidly delicious. As for the ‘vegetable of the day’, perhaps they had no veggies on that particular day? … no veggies came with my order, even though the menu said it would be included with the dish. Either way I’d order from them again as what I did get was very good!

This is a delivery review. I had never been here but was really craving Greek food. First of all, it was kinda expensive, but we got a lamb dish, stuffed peppers and grilled calamari. The warm pita was literally the best part of the whole meal. The calamari: ew. I love grilled calamari usually but this order wasn’t cleaned! It was rubbery and smelled fishy. There were no grill marks so I don’t know how it got so rubbery. But it was inedible since it hadn’t been cleaned even if we could have gotten past the rubbery-ness. The stuffed peppers were decent, but there were only two and one was very small and one was decent size and it cost $ 13! Too much. The lamb was some sortof soup which had yummy Greek cheese in it, but the meat was super fatty. When we could get to the ACTUAL meat, it was tasty, but there was so little of it in comparison to the fat. And again the dish was $ 15+ & no rice or anything included. And the food took over an hour to show up. Well not be ordering from them again. Too many great Greek places… or even just decent ones to deal with them again.

love love love this place. I have been to many Mediterranean restaurants, an this is by far the best one yet. Great live band was playing all night with 3 different singers to keep you going. plenty of dancing space, and very delicious authentic Greek food which is very well priced. Beautiful décor, and beautiful people from the staff to the crowd. I enjoyed every second of Jimbos and I can not wait to go back.

Placed my first delivery order and the food was delicious! Update: 7÷19÷2014 — My wife wanted to dance and have fun so we went to Jimbos. We got their for dinner around 9:30pm and the place was pretty empty. We had a delicious dinner with Greek salad, Spinach Pie, Lamb in tomato sauce and Orzo(yummy), a bottle of wine, Ouzo, and Greek Coffee. The crowd started to get there around 11:00pm because the music starts at 11:30pm. By midnight, Jimbos was standing room only. The music with multiple female and male singers was great. we got our dancing in and left around 1:00pm. The owner George was a gentleman and kept checking with us to make sure we were having a good time which I really appreciated. Our waiter, Angelo was great. My only suggestion would be to get better ventilation :-)

I have been here many times, the quality of the food keeps me coming back. They recently renovated and updated their menu, however I can only attest to how delicious their steak, shrimps and classic Greek dishes are. It is even worth mentioning their salad and fries side orders are equally satisfying and filling on their own. As far as Mediterranean goes in this part of town you will not find anything as consistent for lunch and diner.

Jimbo’s Bar is one of the best options you have around Astoria if you seek for Greek live music and entertainment. The place is recently renovated and I have to admit that they did a great job with the decoration. The drinks are strong and fairly priced and the food(mainly Greek cuisine) is delicious. Giouvetsi(baked lamb with orzo) is my personal favorite. Just try it and you won’t regret it! Delicious taste and huge portion! Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday they have live Greek music nights(11pm — 4am) and everybody’s having a hell of a time, singing and dancing! The live band is very good, most singers are quite good but the sound system and the speakers ain’t appropriate for a solid live performance. That’s definitely something that Jimbo’s management has to improve.

If you have a passion for Greek food and the traditional Greek entertainment, this is definitely the place to go. Get the Greek sausage. This place is so authentic you would believe that you are in a Greek nightclub in Greece. You will love the service there. Singing and dancing.

Great music, a little suspicious of non-Greek«skippies» new to the neighborhood, but inside these doors there’s great music and nice vibe as bikinied women bartenders from S. America serve mostly men or couples, often from Greece or regions nearby. Lotta fun but don’t mess around. Some of the best music you’ll get in NYC without a cover! Update: They’e now gone upscale Greek. No more biknied servers. But they still shower bills on the performers adn they’ve added some pretty good food. Check it out. Worth it

lolz. currently there is one review for jimbo’s. seems about right. i lived across the street from this establishment for 3 and a half years, yet i never actually hit it up til a few months before i left the neighb. probably because it looks sketchy as hell from outside, and there are usually old, somewhat pervy looking greek dudes standing around shooting the shit in front of the place. often these gents are accompanied by ladies who look like they’ve been in the«dancing» biz for one too many years. however once i finally checked it out, i felt like a total dumdum for neglecting jimbo’s for 3 years. total end of the night, shitshow, go-to destination. cheap drinks, festive atmosphere(on a few occasions there was some rowdy greek live music going on), tons of fun-loving OGs chillin at the bar, and surprisingly tasty food – someone had told me jimbo’s octopus was good, so we tried that and the saganaki – both were deliciously fresh and late-night greasy good. and pssssst: you can like… do…something…in jimbo’s. something that was outlawed at nyc bars a few years ago.
