The proprietor, John, knows what he’s doing. Upon entering, you may be engaged enthusiastically in anything horror or metal related. It’s clear this cordial fellow is passionate about his establishment and goods which he presents instead of simply throwing a bunch of shit on some shelves. He’ll offer his knowledgeable opinion on everything he offers. True, the space is small and he can therefore only carry so much. However, you may find such varied items as many vinyl records, tape cassettes, vhs videos, jackets, pipes, shirts, hats, small weapons, tape players; comic books, and other such edgy or music-related items while grooving to some metal or hard rock on a sweet little Bose system to provide a fuller metal experience. Metal Head frequently receives new records as well so even popping in a few days later, you may find some new treats. Musician and artist types hang out here often as well so it’s easy for a newcomer like me to meet some like-minded souls. I’m glad establishments like this continue to exist considering it’s almost year 2016 and digital streaming crap and blah blah. This place is an experience. And you get to walk out with some hot fresh items in hand… and potentially make some new friends. You can’t truly match that over the interwebz and faceybooks.

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Astoria, OR
Metal Head is an awesome shop that just opened up next to the infamous Columbian Café. Whether it be records, bumper stickers, jean jackets or glassware, this dude definitely has a collection of goods worth checking out. It’s a small shop, but it’s got a lot of heart. The owner seemed like a pretty good dude, but I totally caught him taking a swig of ranch sauce out of the bottle, which was kind of weird. Either way, I’d definitely check this place out again, and it’s an excellent addition to the Downtown Astoria scene.
