I was skeptical when I pulled my badass disco van into the sketchy gravel parking lot marked for Portway customers, but then I got inside. I was alone, so I sat at the bar and chatted up the bartender, Elaine. First of all, she’s awesome. Friendly, but not too familiar. Chatty, but not intrusive. Sparky enough to be fun, but not disrespectful. I ordered a French dip and a glass of whiskey. The whiskey was good, although their soda wasn’t very bubbly. The sandwich was amazing. Lots of tender beef piled up on a phenomenal sourdough roll. Just enough bite to be tangy, almost chewy. Loved it. Plus they had waffle fries. Waffle fries! I haven’t seen waffle fries in years. I’ll definitely be stopping here again.

This bar was amazing. We went on a Friday night; it was busy because of a birthday party that was slowly starting to clear out. We were able to get a couple seats at the bar while we waited for a few other friends to get into town. There was one bartender/server taking all the orders. She had to be the hardest working lady I’d ever seen at a bar! It took a little while to order drinks but they were cheap and generous. She was also very friendly. For dinner I had the clams and fries and they were very good. Others enjoyed their food as well. Not expected at a dive bar. We enjoyed this bar so much we came back Saturday night. Karaōke was also great. I think we’ll be back on our next stay in town!
