Purlieu

For my first strip club experience, I thought Purlieu was going to be like the club nights I’ve seen on Instagram – it wasn’t. I put on my finest thot wear [ended up looking like a sleazy newscaster LOL] only to arrive at a place that I feel could have been so much more. I think my group stayed for about an hour or two. It takes a lot for me to have a really bad time, but this experience was nothing to write home about. I’ll break it down into positives & negatives:

— The music was on point, DJ played a lot of hip hop and did their best to engage the crowd.
— The girls, at least some of them, were on point. Lots of different shapes and complexions. and a pregnant chick (?!) but a celebration of bodies and body diversity nonetheless.
— The bartenders are polite and serve you quickly. You can also go to them to change your $$ into singles.

— This place is empty. Like, cartwheel around the club empty. I found it weird to be that empty on a Friday night but decided to stay a little bit in case the turn up happened. It didn’t.
— I guess they make their $$ off of VIP package deals, which could explain why the promoter I spoke with talked to me like he wanted me to get to the point and give him my deposit when I had questions. So glad I didn’t do a VIP package.
— This place is selfie city, as soon as we got in the club the girls had their phones out for IG. Notice how all the negatives are because the place is empty.

–Manager gave a free drink… only for you to purchase another at $ 15.
A friend told me afterwards that Purlieu has its good days, but I don’t think I want to press my luck and try this place again.

Not a strip club expert but I wasn’t impressed. Girls looked bored. No one was throwing money. One room. Stage behind bar. Music was ok.

They don’t know how to count at the bar, messing up the drinks with tones of water, if you order cocktail like gin n tonic, you will have around 97% of tonic. The only good thing is girls, that’s why I’ve put least SOME stars.
I don’t recommend this place.

poppinnn had good time went with few friends

I came to check this spot out on Saturday, July 4^th because they said that Trey Songz would make an appearance. They had Eventbrite tickets which was FREE before 11:30 PM. I know most clubs usually hold the line especially if there’s a guestlist cut off time so I got there 45 minutes early at 10:45 PM to wait in line. The line wasn’t even long but they most definitely were just holding the line as we barely moved in the 45 minutes that we stood in line. Of course by 11:30 PM one of the guy comes out to let the line know that Eventbrite tickets were over and cover would be $ 30! Are you serious? $ 30 for a club in Astoria? No thanks! I love Trey but I wasn’t willing to pay the $ 30 cover after I had patiently waited in line for 45 minutes and potentially risk him not even making an appearance. Anyways, I’m never coming back to this establishment! And you shouldn’t either! For $ 30 cover, go check out a spot in Manhattan that’s got free cover or something. Last but not least, if you still want to check this spot out and if you’re a girl, please make sure you walk over with friends as the area is a little dark and quiet.

Worseeeee club EVER I Swear & I Party All the time !! OVER CHARGE FOR THEIR WACK ASS WATERED DOWN DRINKS! mind you i went on july 4^th there wasnr nothing poppin in this little ass club !! & they promoted this club like crazy saying TREY SONGZ was gonna be there! The bitches they have ALLLLL of them Need need to get fired the worse service & they cant COUNT !! The hookah was WEAK !! I Paid 30 dollars for a hookah & i peeped the hookah boy charge another girl 35 dollars smh !! Lets just say i Promise You dont Waste your time PS. I love trey songz but staying there wasnt worth it.

THIS IS MY FIRST REVIEW EVER, that’s how bad this spot was. By far the worse spot I’v ever been to. Went last night on a Tuesday. $ 20 entrance fee to walk into a dead ass strip club. There was legit 6 other people. I go to sit at the bar, waited about 10 min, never got attended. Mind you there were two girls right in front of my friend and I on the bar side and faced there back to us, that’s when we walked out. There was maybe one dancer who went up for maybe 30sec to dance then stopped. (Don’t become a dancer if you hate that job, there’s plenty of other professions out there)
I will definitely not go back, I don’t care what day of the week it is, treat every night like its a Friday and or Saturday night or don’t open at all.
THIS SPOT DOESNT EVEN DESERVE A STAR.

Great spot [except it says *free* admission yet it’s really not]. Drinks are a bit pricey, ladies are lovely. Think I caught the feels for «Jordan.» I’ll come back.

I’ll start with this, I’m a bit biased cause I don’t really like clubs.
The bottle service was a bit pricey for what you got (who serves Coconut Ciroc?) and the space was pretty empty the Saturday night I went (around midnight). The crowd was mostly black with a smattering of Hispanic guys (which is fine with me, but as a white guy there, you get the «dude you look out of place» stare Lol).
People were friendly enough and the music, although 99% rap, was decent.
I guess I’m just not the clientele they’re trying to target.

Went on a Saturday night. Hip hop crowd and music to match. Lots of shades in the club and bottle popping. With that said, I enjoyed myself! Music was consistent, bar was never too packed, no super rude bouncers, and free valet. I’ll return! If you are looking for an upscale, classy spot, this isn’t it. But if you are just looking for a good time without the hassle, where you can strut your hood fabulous attire and get a really decent music set, see you there!

— The booty dancers/​magician/​guy who does the hula hoop tricks (on the main atage behind the bar), is a welcome distraction when the music gets whack

— $ 20 after midnight for an empty club is kind of steep
— Food is very generic

Beautiful exterior on a corner property. Looks amazing in photos when you check out the interior, but I have mixed feelings about how it is in there. I do like the unique setup with DJ behind the bar (the bar itself is HUGE — way bigger than is needed for a venue of this size.)
Anyway, for those who enjoy it, they offer great packages for bottle service and hookahs. I don’t do either, but that didnt stop more than half the patrons from taking advantage of that.
I might go again, but only if I didnt already have plans to go somewhere else in Astoria.
