We went for dinner, the food is pretty good. We got shredded beef and garlic shrimp. It very very small portion for the price though. I was SOSHOCK when they came. The beef is quite a good portion and it comes with mix rice and bean. My shrimp though, they’re only about 5pc, 6 slices of maduros and avocado salad. For the price almost $ 30 each meal at least you gotta give a satisfaction of enough meal, btw I’m only 102lbs and 5.1′ so believe me if they give small portion! Disappointed! Not to mentioned the music is too loud. Maybe it’s a Cuban thing!

I have found my new favorite Cuban restaurant! Service is so important to me so when I called on a WEDNESDAY asking if they could possibly take me and my party of FIFTEEN for my boyfriends FRIDAY birthday celebration and they said yes? I was over the moon! This place is on the smaller side guys– so I was ready to hear a no. I called the day of to ask if adding two more would be possible and they had no issues. I also asked if I could stop in with some balloons a few hours before the reservation and they were so kind when I did, confirming my decision to go with Sabor De Cuba. The party dwindled in slowly, but everyone started ordering drinks and a few appetizers. Everyone was there by 8PM and we ordered our entrees. The restaurant had another party of about 10, our party of 17 and were able to fit about 5 more 4 tops so the place was packed but they performed swift and professionally. The menus are awesome here! Won’t tell you why, but you’ll see when you visit. Menu Favorites: –Strawberry Margarita –Passion Fruit Mojito(they also have PF Sangria!) –Chicken Empanadas –Churrasco with Chimichurri –Camarones al ajillo(shrimp in a garlic sauce) I originally had a reservation at a popular Cuban restaurant in LIC that used to be my favorite. We would visit at least once a month and recommend people to them. They decided to not accommodate my reservation two days before because we added three people. It’s amazing that Sabor, a smaller restaurant was able to not only accommodate us last minute but did so with class and made our night amazing. Everything happens for a reason and now I have found the true Cuban Jem in Astoria.

Not good at all. Pernil had no taste everything seemed like it was reheated, I must say the Sangria was delicious both red and white.

My boyfriend was in the mood for Cuban food so Unilocal brought us here, and we were not disappointed. Cute little restaurant with great service and live Latin singers, one of which I swear was Celia Cruz reincarnated. We ordered the passion fruit sangria, calamari, cubanito sandwich, and the vaca frita. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. This is a perfect spot for a dinner date and will definitely be back. Now if only they had a dance floor so I could get my salsa and bachata on.

Was searching for new spots in Astoria to dine with my friend Andrea G. so we stopped by Sabor De Cuba after I saw all the great reviews. As we walked in, the server asked if we had reservations and my friend answered no so he looked at the back then at us and pointed to the first table behind the front door. Thank god less cold draft from the constant door opening. My friend already knew that she was going to get the Camarones Al Ajillo so I was thinking about tapas vs. entrée. My friend ordered a Red Sangria then I switched over to look at the drink menu and saw the Sanjitos(wooooo sangria mojito that’s pretty cool)…:sad face: they ran out of it so I got the Passion Fruit Sangria! I asked our server Marco which was better Pernil or Vaca Frita so he told me to get the Pernil okie dokie. We got a Yuca Frita to share. I definitely love the Passion Fruit Sangria as its quite light and not too overpowering from the wine topped with red/green apples and orange peels. We were getting so hungry as the kitchen was pumping out food for the nearby tables. When our dishes comes to the table, I was like damn my dish is freaking huge. Good thing there was rice and black beans to go along with my dish. The Yuca Frita was crispy and yummy. My friend really enjoyed her dish even though the portion was small. I probably took a few bites of my Pernil but wanted to save room for dessert so one of the servers put my leftovers in a container for me to take home. Since we are sharing dessert, I know my friend isn’t a fan of Flan so our eyes were fixated on the last choice of Tres Leches. When Marco brought out the dessert, I noticed right away that there were coconut flakes all over the cake and plate. I told him that I was allergic to coconut and he offered to see if they have one without coconut so he took the slice back to the kitchen. Unfortunately all the ingredients is made with coconut #bummer. My friend got a new slice of the Tres Leches and some parts of the cake wasn’t completely soaked in the delicious leche but she still enjoyed it. I went with my love of flans and this was a Passion Fruit flavor mmmmm… so delicious after each bite! Definitely a must try for authentic Cuban food and excellent service from Marco!

Interesting place, with good food. I have never had Conan before, so I won’t review it comparing to other Cuban food restaurants, just as a restaurant. The place looks little dark from outside, that I wasn’t sure if they are open, once we got inside we saw that this is just the style. We were seated right away, and started with cool beers. Starters were good, and the steak was delicious, with interesting spices. I loved it. It is not a big place, but it is enough for good lunch or dinner.

Awesome place !! I love the atmosphere! Went on a Friday night and they had live music the girl had a nice voice, the place is small and cozy is perfect! They are very original. To start they only have wine, mojitos and beers. I had the they blackberry mojito it was really good! The drinks menu is on the label of a wine bottle, and the food menu is in a cigars box very original. The menu don’t have a lot options to chose from but I had mofongos with seafood one top and it was delicious very flavorful and the calamaris too. The place is perfect to go w your girls to talk eat and listen to nice music or with ur boyfriend on a date. I’m deff going back !!!

Been here twice now for dinner. The first time was not an amazing experience. Many months later, I decided to give it another try and was not disappointed. Sabor de Cuba gets it! There was live music playing which I love and dim lights. Perfect décor for a beautiful Friday dinner date. I love the menus — cigar box for food & wine bottle for drinks. The drinks were tasty and hit the spot. Seriously the best empanadas I’ve ever had. Generous dinner portions and left overs to spare. Absolutely loved my waiter and the manager checked on us several times as well. I will definitely be back!

We were recently in the mood for Cuban food. Was in the Astoria area and found my new Cuban spot! First off, the service was outstanding. I love being in a restaurant where the waiters actually know what is on the menu & what it tastes like. Sounds simple right? but lately I have noticed that this is becoming a lost skill. But not at Sabor de Cuba! The staff was very attentive and were extremely courteous and helpful. The décor was very classy and very Cuban… which is exactly what you would want if you chose to eat at a Cuban restaurant. Now the food, for appetizers we had the Arepa with Cola(Oxtail) & The Camaron con Coco(breaded Shrimp) — one word: Amazing! This coming from someone who normally hates Arepas. The appetizers tasted so fresh and was cooked perfectly. For this alone they deserved 4 stars but then the entrees came, My wife had the«Pollo con Sabor» which was a grill chicken with a flavored with rice. It looked plain but the taste was outstanding! I had the Ropa Vieja(shredded beef) that came with Moro(Rice with black beans mixed in) — I have had Ropa Vieja in many other places including some Cuban restaurants in Miami. but this was by far one of the better ones I have had in a very long time! At the end of the meal the manager came by and asked us how was the food and our service which we found was a surprisingly great ending to our night there. Overall, if you are in the mood for some great Cuban food and are near Astoria — Sabor de Cuba is for you! ** They do not have a liquor license yet we were told and this is the main reason why I could only give it 4 stars instead of 5 — because the truth is a pineapple or coconut Mojito would have been perfect with our meal! Am hoping they get it soon because it is really the only thing missing…

This hidden gem in Astoria is a great, authentic place to come to. Though the space is small, it is a cozy and quaint atmosphere. Simple wall décor with the right Cuban accents help bring the dim lighting together in a romantic setting. The food packs a lot of flavor, but lacks a bit in size for the price. Yes I realize tapas are meant to be small, but we are in Astoria; tapas shouldn’t be city prices($ 9-$ 12). Those can come down a couple bucks, and entrees are decently priced, maybe $ 1 – 2 over for this area. That aside, delicious nonetheless, especially the ropa vieja with moro. Drinks are delicious and not watered/iced down or too boozy. My favorite was a piña colada with prosecco and grilled pineapple. Not too sweet, a bit smoky, and served with a Cuban flag. Definitely worth checking out, especially on a Friday with the live music!

Reason: New job celebration! His: First time at this establishment. Compared to the other restaurants in the neighborhood it was the least appealing from the outside, but the food was slightly above average. Wasn’t fond of how the menu was presented, and the«live» music was iffy. Price wise it wasn’t bad. Didn’t get to drink, i was driving, but she did! Her: Yeah, definitely didn’t look great when walking toward the restaurant but the food was better than expected. Drinks were AMAZING. Definitely try the Sangria. Drank more than I ate *wink winkz*. Overall: While it wasn’t the greatest place, it was solid. Definitely would come back, but only if other places had a long waiting period, etc.

I have eaten here twice, both times in the middle of the week. There are usually only a few tables full on those days but I hear it’s quite crowded on the weekends. The best thing about this place is the ambience. I love the decorations, the mood, the music, and the way my attitude immediately switched when stepping foot in the building. It brings the feeling of relaxing and having a drink with no other problems to worry you. Outside I worry about work. Inside I am engulfed in another time and place. The drinks here are amazing. We have tried both the regular sangria and the sangrito. Both are so good, it just depends on how sweet you like your drinks. We had some of the tapas: arepas with oxtail, Cuban sandwich, and shrimp and calamari in a plantain bowl plus some yucca frita. All were so good! The arepas were like little finger food bites with so much flavor packed in the little bite. The Cuban sandwich was my favorite! The sandwich was actually enough food to be a whole meal, all for the price of a tapa. Yucca frita was a little strange, it was breaded and didn’t really taste like yucca. The times I have been to Central America the yucca frita was just wedges of yucca fried in oil. So an interesting take on the dish but I wish I could have tasted the yucca more than the breading. Desserts were fried coconut rice balls and passion fruit flan. Both were pretty phenomenal.

Sangrijito a combination of sangria and mojito. WHAT? Cool way to start a meal. Then the tapas. Arepa with ox tail, topped with quail egg. Then mini Cuban sandwich with fried yuca and Garlic Mojo Sauce. Then the croquettes with a spicy mustard on the side. Finally the Chorizo in Tomato Sauce with Garlic Bread. That’s was only the beginning. Ropa vieja and pernil entrees were fresh and flavorful. To end with flan and Cuban espresso. It’s a small restaurant, seats maybe 50 ppl. Only another couple were here. The menus are presented in a unique way. Food in a cigar box, wine/drinks on a wine bottle and deserts on a small brown bag. Staff was great. Food was bad ass… I might have to come back for brunch!

Writing this as I sit here on a Friday afternoon. Very cute place — I may be biased because I am Cuban but I love the decorations! Now onto the food: Had a passion fruit sangria and it is AMAZING! Seriously, get a pitcher! Ordered croquetas, now, here’s where the Cuban-ness kicks in. They are not authentic and I was very dissapointed. HOWEVER, they are delicious! Just know it’s not what a croqueta is supposed to look/taste like. Cuban sandwhich was good, it’s hard to mess that up! But they did a good job. I want to come back to try more things. I am critical because of my heritage. But the service was Great by Roy I believe his name is.

I was a little skeptical about it because the decoration is very dark, but once you go in you will understand why it’s dark! The whole atmosphere of the restaurant is very Latin and just amazing. The menus are super cute, the drink menu is printed on a bottle of wine and the food menu is on boxes on Cuban Tabacco. Drinks: Their sangria and margarita/mojito combination is 10⁄10. The amount of liquor in the drinks is perfect to pair with the food. Food: Authentic Cuban food! I ordered the Ropa Vieja, which is my favorite Spanish food, but it was a little too greasy for my taste, but that’s just me. Service: FREEWIFI!!!(Are you wondering why did I put so many exclamation points? because the place is a dead zone you get no service at all.) The server was super nice and helpful.

One word: Deliciousness ! Excellent service. Roy was our waiter, very attentive. Every thing I ate was mouth watering. The chef came out introduced himself which was refreshing. The décor is beautiful and the bathroom is always kept clean and they have lotion for the ladies which I love(a special touch) My third time here and I can’t get enough.

We had high expectations for Savor de Cuba and were certain it would not disappoint. We ordered a pitcher of red sangria for the table which was delicious and well worth it! It was sweet, and fruity: the perfect summer night drink. We were so so excited for dinner to arrive. And then it arrived :(My mom and I shared pork shoulder with rice and beans along with a side of maduros. Rice, beans, and maduros were delicious! However, the pork shoulder BARELY had any meat. Eating dinner was comprised mostly of flinging chunks of pork fat onto the side of the plate which was NOT appetizing whatsoever. When we told the waiter, he shrugged his shoulders. Oh well, okay. But then, my father, who ordered paiella, received the smallest portion and the seafood was severely lacking. Disappointing for such an expensive dish. Overall, food could have been better, but wasn’t lost completely for hope. Drinks were great, service was good. We enjoyed ourselves but the prices were too high and food not worth it to go back.

The ambiance, the drinks, the food, the wait staff and the desserts, all excellent! They way they showcase their menus and the receipt at the end, all very quirky and interesting! My party ordered the churrasco and the vaca frita. We all raved that this is possibly the best Cuban food in the city for the price and the portions served. Our drinks were sanjito, a mixture of sangria and a mojito. Very light and refreshing with the sprigs of mint. It was a perfect compliment to all the flavors in the food. We had two desserts, the flan de maracuya and the Castro de Chocolate. All sooooo amazing and our waiter poured the molten chocolate in the small hole in the chocolate cake for us. All in all, very great experience and loved the food! Definitely recommending you visit!

Came for brunch with the girls. To start the red sangria is the best I’ve had in a long time. 3 of us decided on the(El Socio) skirt steak and eggs for our meal. I didn’t like the cut– rubbery and fatty. The eggs were ok, rice– good. My gf had(Desayuna Guajira) great presentation(see pic) but that was all. She described it as oily yuca with no chorizo and BLAH. Not being one to complain we let it go– turned off by the mgr who refused to serve my last request of sangria — I wanted to try the white but was told we exceeded out 1.5 hr limit. It’s a slow Sunday– it’s a new place and that’s how you treat customers? Nice. Great server though!
