Love this place! Teal is perfect every time we go. The bartender is always friendly and makes great drinks. The hookahs are always perfect and the price is not bad! The Dj plays a mix of today’s hits, reggae and Spanish music. They have cute couches and a decent size dancing area. Bathroom is always clean and food always fresh. What else can I say!!!

DONT waste your time here. I came here with a group of 9 people on a Friday night for my sisters birthday and we wanted to get a space to sit and the waitress with curly hair tells us its $ 150 for bottle service and to get a seat and we said thats fine and then we try to get 2 of the waitresses attention to order the bottle AND hookah and then when they finally come to us 20 min later takes our order and THEN tells us its cash only. WTFITS2016 and you’re located ASTORIA the most up coming area in NYC right now and you don’t take card?! My husband tried ordering one drink and they wouldn’t take card for it. The hostesses/waitresses were extremely rude and did not even TRY to accommodate us instead they told us to leave when we said they were being rude. If youre cash only why dont you have an atm in your lounge either? Then the manager comes to us when we left outside and tells us his sob story of his credit card machine is not working because of the credit card chip and how he lost money pure BS and kept apologizing but it did not make up for the horrible treatment and service. It wasnt about spending money but we’re in 2016 now how do you not have credit card service or no signs of cash only and horrible customer service? Again Dont waste your time here.

I went in there the other day, first of all nobody greeted us/sat us. All of the booths were filled with garbage empty wrappers, tissues etc. The menus were all destroyed and couldn’t read much. I’ll give this place a chance again hopefully it’s better.

Music? Good. hookah? Well, if you like to pay for one and never get fresh charcoal in the whole 2hours you’re there, then GREAT! I work in a hookah spot in the city, and I know how annoying people can be, but this is ridiculous…

I read a couple of the reviews before me and I have to say I’m surprised. I had such an amazing experience here last night. I’m very big on customer service and this place gets a 10⁄10 in that area. My husband and I go to hookah lounges very often but this is the best so far. We came here on date night. It was almost 1am and parking was hard to find so I ran in to check if they had a table. I was greeted by a bouncer(great! No underage trouble makers will be in here!) who was super nice. He waited patiently to find my ID and then went over to ask the bartender if they had a table for me. Most bouncers are assholes and wouldn’t do that. I appreciated that. I was told that we could have a table but if a big group requested bottle service we’d be moved to the bar. Fair. Fine by me. We decided to stay & sit at the bar to avoid moving. Drinks: I had a bay breeze, my husband had a mint mojito — both were awesome. The bartenders were amazing. We didn’t have empty glasses for more than a minute before they came to check if we wanted another round. I got a sex on the beach next which was really good. Hookah: I ordered a Teal Mix hookah which was fruity and awesome. He had a mint, also great and lasted really long. The coals were changed often. The hookah pulled well. Music: the music was a bit all over the place. They went from reggae to about two hours of Spanish music to rap music. It’s not our style but didn’t mind the Spanish music, people were dancing so I guess that’s why the DJ kept playing it. Loved the rap and reggae. Service: The service was just wonderful. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. Also, the place is very clean! We def will come back.

I went here for the first time. It was uncanny how they asked for Id’s on the door even for hookah. It looked like a messy place. But the hookah was perfect. I think they need to work on their service a lot more.

Pros– the music is great and hookah is good as well. Unfortunately these are the only 2 good things about the place. Cons– I haven’t seen a place as mismanaged as this in a while. The staff have no communication with one another and frankly are very rude. We ordered mozzarella sticks, hummus and fries, 10 mins later we were told there are no more humus platters, another 15 passed and we were notified that there are no more mozzarella sticks. In 35 minutes we got fries … Cold fries. We didn’t bother saying anything as we didn’t want to wait yet another 35 mins. I asked for mayo(that never came) All in all, the place has A LOT of potential if they got their game together.

Been to teal a few times for a couple of people’s birthdays. Music is always fun– top 40, Spanish and some house. Never had the hookah but every time I’ve gone I’ve never not danced. Feels a little gangsta with the crowd but overall good time, no gun shots here(I think)

I gave a good review a few years back but have to change it after a few bad times there. Last time I went we had a small group, around 8 of us or so. We ordered a few bottles of wine, 2 bottles of Ciroc Vodka and a Fruit Hookah. When you order like that they usually ask for a card and ID to hold until the end. When its time to pay they charged my card without confirming with me. When I told the waitress no I am paying with cash she tells me that its too late because she already ran it. When i look at the bill i noticed it was NOT itemized and looked higher than it should. Basically she brought be the signing portion that shows total and has a spot for tip and total. I asked for the itemized bill and noticed she put a $ 100 «Service Charge». I have been here many times and this was never done before. she refused to accept the cash and I ended up signing and disputing the extra charges on the bill with CC company.

They have the best hookah in steinway… I am an avid hookah smoker and I wont smoke just any hookah especially the small club hookah this place has top quality when it comes to hookah and i love that the coal guys comes around very frequently. If you like Quality hokah this is the only place in Steinway. The music is good and girl at the bar pours a heavy drink. Definitely recomend and look forward to going back.

I’m an avid hookah smoker. It’s in my blood. No really, it courses through my green veins and turns my blood bright red once exposed ;) Let’s get down to business. Been to Teal several times. This place needs a complete overhaul. Everything is old and falling apart as far as the interior goes. Ripped leather seats, huge hole in the bar’s front panel, restrooms are decrepit. God only knows what the kitchen looks like. — Slow, unattentive service even when business is slow — Overpriced, mediocre hookah but not as overpriced as the city. This is yet another example when ethnic culture meets western trends. — Turns into a club like atmosphere on Fri & Sat nights; DJ spins top 40 or will do sets of the same genre which can get boring real quickly — Haven’t tried their food nor would I want to Peace, Love & Hookah

So I went back after 3yrs and for my 28th Bday this time… to my surprise… they switched out the holes chairs and pillows that were filled with burnt holes and now with brand new leather padded seats :) I’m very pleased about that… but their music is still all over the damn place @_@ and still didn’t have the AC on when we arrived; it’s 3yrs later and I still had to request them to turn the AC on during the summer WTF!!! shouldn’t this be common sense by now? Heat on during the winter and AC on during the summer? that or at least throw in an electric fan… we were literally fanning ourselves with their menus …~_~” Anyhow…the music did improve once DJ Shorty showed up, he did a lot of throw back songs I haven’t heard since High School lol. But still could of been better… There’s now a $ 30 credit card minimum… not pleased about that… Otherwise, «hookah» was on point as usual; the guys are super attentive with the coals just like before and that was objective. The girls behind the bar improved, they came to check on us more than what I recalled years ago and is friendlier as well. But that phone… lol if you sit near it… the ringing will startle you all through out the night. All in all… it’s been a step up for them, maybe the next time won’t be 3 years before I give them a chance again. :)

Came yesterday, on a slow day, and fell in love. The bartender(Lina) was great – she came every now and then to check up on my friend and I. It wasn’t overbearing, just the perfect amount of hospitality I’ve been looking for in a hookah lounge. For the first hour I was there, I was alone, drinking beer and smoking hookah while reading a book. The part owner came by every now and then to adjust my coal and spark up a conversation, asking if I was okay and if I was finding everything to be well. He told me their deals and events, which added to my desire to come back. The hookah itself, was great. My favorite hookah flavor, in general, is blue mist. I must say though – Teal has the best blue mist I ever had. The flavor was so rich in every pull. The coal was always being replaced by one of the workers(Martin), so the last of the hookah was a good 2 hours and a half. The only two downfall qualities, is 1. the price of bottled beers, which is $ 7 a bottle. Not tooooo bad, but not a steal either. The second downfall(which was more of an inconvenience rather than a deal breaker) is the $ 40 minimum for card usage. Doesn’t necessarily deter me from coming back though. So it’s not too big of a deal. Overall, I fell in love with Teal. And will definitely be back.

I’ve recently been coming to Teal a lot more than usual. At first, I saw it as an off Steinway spot that really didn’t seem as if it could get that same fun atmosphere as some of the bigger joints. The first time we went to Teal everything was great, but the more we go the more fun we have every time. Last Saturday, I had as much fun as I had at Haven in Atlantic City – minus the $ 2500+ table and $ 400+ bottles. Bottle prices are nice and low here, but there’s no sparklers when your bottle comes out. I for one don’t care, but just a heads up for whoever’s expecting that. For $ 150 we got a big bottle of Hennessy and for about $ 50 more we had two orange head hookahs. The bill came out to $ 200+ and for a reg-deg weekend thats just fine with me. It gives me all the reason to hand some extra tip to my waitress, which we do, always. On the flip side, we got complimentary shots at the end of the night – you give and you get. Also, the manager is such a cool guy. He’s from the same neighborhood as me and always trying to make everyone’s night enjoyable. If you need anything, he’s your man. Teal is deff one of my typical weekend spots for sure; however, it’s not an occasion type place. It’s not huge by any means but it’s cozy and you can deff dance. If you want to have a fun and moderately priced day out, come to teal – you won’t regret it. But then again, it’s not a huge club like some of the monstrosities you’ll find in the city. If you want to party with hundreds or thousands of other people, you’re not in the right place. But, for some Hookah, drinks, dancing, and an overall great night, Come to Teal!

Average hookah bar. We were able to sit in the lounge areas since it was way too early for bottle service. We got a mixed fruit hookah. We also ordered some waters but the waitress came over with bottled Voss. Really? We asked for tap and she swapped it out. I liked the vibe, but I feel like it gets very rowdy at night.

I absolutely love this place. Everything is great. From the hookah, the drinks, the dj, to the really fun & awesome staff. They refresh hookah coals often that are really cheap for good quality. The owner is super friendly and seems to get along well w his staff. All of the bartenders are really pretty & friendly as well. I especially like the short bartender that works Weds. She pays really close attn to detail and is always cleaning. Now let’s get to the music… The dj plays EVERYTHING and changes it as needed. No complaints. The venue is perfect for a chill relaxed night or a Saturday night out dancing. No complaints.
