It’s just so hard to find good Chinese food in Astoria! I almost decided not to order because of the Unilocal reviews, but I’m so glad I decided to try it! The portions were large and the food was very good! The woman at the counter was also efficient and very friendly. We have tried almost every Chinese food spot in Astoria and this is our new go-to.(fyi Top One and Broadway Chinese are the same restaurant).

i’m becoming concerned that they’ve slipped. the quality isn’t there anymore. they had a good following but since they changed owners a couple of years ago it’s taken a turn for the worse. i usually order the shrimp with broccoli and brown rice and it’s amazing. lots of large shrimp. however, i haven’t ordered that in over a year so i’ll have to check it out again. i just ordered moo shu beef and was disappointed. it had too much lettuce, which makes it mushy, they’ve added scallions which i think unless chopped finely are just a filler and are difficult to chew. the beef just doesn’t ‘look’ good. overall the dish had no flavor. i will say the mushrooms are fresh, not many of them but at least they’re not canned. the pancakes are super fake. i don’t know how else to describe them. if you eat moo shu you’ll know what i mean. they do the trick but you can really see where they’re cutting corners. just fyi, there are current reviews under their new name, broadway china station too.

Top One Chinese Restaurant saved my life once on a mission to find an open Chinese place at 12:30AM after an afternoon/night of drinking. It hit the spot.

This was our go to Chinese spot. However they must’ve changed management because tonight it was a new girl on the phone, new delivery guy, new food packaging, and the food was simply awful. Save yourself some indigestion and go elsewhere.

Consistency is the name of the game. Good just about every time. I never went to this place.(wait what?)…buttt i have ordered take out at least 15 times. The food is good just about every time. I always get the lunch special, general Tsos, White rice and soup. It is always warm tender and i haven’t had any«questionable» meets yet. Delivery is fast and the people are friendly. it loses some stars for these reasons. 1) Price has increased for lunch special about $ 0.70. 2) Sometimes delivery guy does not have change and i have to ask everyone i work with for change.(how do you not have change??) 3) Some dishes with vegetables(curry chicken) is loaded with veggies not so much chicken.

Oh Top One, how I love thee! Let me count the ways: 1. You make your own spicy mustard and it never disappoints. I didn’t think a fast food Chinese place could surpass those tiny packets, but you are magical. 2. You have the nicest damn employees. You always invite me to sit down while I wait for my food and my order is always so complete and fresh. Plus, I really like your fish tank. 3. You have mastered the art of take-out Chinese. No, it probably isn’t super authentic, and it really isn’t spicy. But it is soothing. Your hot and sour soup chases away my allergies. Your spring rolls and dumplings can sooth away my worst of days. And your servings are so plentiful that I need only order one entrée to overstuff both my boyfriend and I. Please never go away. Please never change. I love you just the way you are.

I’ve done both take-out(many times) and delivery(a few times) from here, and I figured I should update my review to showcase why Top One is better than the average 3-star rating it’s received. Exhibit A: it’s pretty cheap for what you get. Evidence — Margot G and I opted for a large order of orange chicken last night, which came with a good-sized carton of white rice. This fed both of us last night and will feed me again today for lunch. Price? Under $ 10 Exhibit B: delivery is *really* fast. Evidence — I ordered delivery twice this weekend… once late Friday night and again during the evening delivery rush on Sunday. Both times it was at my door in less than 20 minutes. Exhibit C: it is TASTY. Evidence — I’ve had the sweet & sour chicken numerous times, the pork fried rice numerous times, and tried the orange chicken last night. All have been awesome. If you’re looking for a typical night of fast Chinese take-out, look no further than Top One. They really do the trick! This place is still as good as I remember from the first time I tried it several years ago. Thank goodness too now that I’m in the area.

I don’t think I expect any better at a fast food chinese take out, it does its job. I am nuisance for not carrying cash ever, and end up here to use my debit card to get dinner when I am too lazy to cook dinner. I would recommend Fatima’s Kitchen more but they only take cash, so Top One serves me well!

Some Chinese food blows your mind. Some Chinese food deems itself worthy of the trash after your first bite. And some Chinese food is just a good, reliably quick meal on the cheap. Top One falls into the last category, where you can easily nab some nosh, fill yourself up and keep the bank account in check. Find here your standard, gigantic Chinese take-out menu, complete with Cantonese specials and Szechuan delights. The portions are big enough for a few meals worth and the preparation(I opted for carry out, since I was passing by) is super fast. Obviously, perfect for hangover days, lazy days and just-craving-Chinese days.

Decent, if uninspired, Chinese in Astoria. Decent chicken and beef dishes, the vegetables are always fresh, which is nice and the staff are very friendly. Prices are moderate, not a great place to eat in — so I recommend take-out.

This is my new favorite place to order from! The delivery is super fast, and the delivery guy is so nice, almong with the rest of their staff. Their food is always fresh and never too greasy. Only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because I have only ate their sesame chicken(which I order specially with only white meat for $ 1 extra) with white rice, and some fried wontons. But I’m sure the other selections are just as delicious!

In Astoria, you can’t get good Indian food, and you can’t get good Chinese food… But for some reason, I keep trying. My experience started off with the delivery taking about an hour. You can imagine how hot my wonton soup was. It was«refreshing». The wontons in the soup were tough and not good. My wife had the hot and sour soup and said it was«the worst hot and sour soup» she had ever had. The beef and broccoli was less horrible. The broccoli was cooked to a good crispness. But the sauce just tasted bad. It was kind of gelatinous. I didn’t eat much of my meal. I have no one to blame but myself for trying to get Chinese food in Astoria.
