I came here with my friends to have a glass of wine. We LOVE the service and the atmosphere. I love the moscato that the waiter recommend and on top of that he gave us different complimentary wines. I will definitely be returning with my friends!

Nice little wine bar with great service. It was a late sunday night and most places were closed but found this spot. The bartender was very warm and welcoming. The kitchen was closed and she went out of her way to make me a cheese plate because i was starving. I appreciated the gesture and will surely return.

Definitely a nice little comfy spot to sit down at the bar and have a glass of wine. Came here with a friend we both had a glass of their Cabernet. I had a second glass afterwards and decided to go with Pinot Grigio. Excellent choice.

I was quite nervous coming here after reading all the reviews on how they treat people from groupon, but I didn’t experience anything like the previous users. We arrived at about 6 o’clock with no reservation, the restaurant was pretty empty so we were seated right away. I immediately told our host/waiter that we had a groupon, but we’re ordering dinner as well, and he had NO negative response. He was nice and attentive, made good recommendations, and our food came out quickly. Wasn’t a huge fan of the Sherry but I’m sure that’s an acquired taste. Also, there was no shortage of parking right in front of the restaurant, atypical of Astoria, which was an enormous relief. Metered parking until 7PM. Cute date night, pleasant experience.

I think not! We went on a groupon and this is what it said: Shared cheese fondue for two(a $ 25 value) One wine flight(three half-glasses) per person(a $ 36 value) Two glasses of sweet or dry sherry(a $ 14 value) 1. Cheese fondue: — Fumes are really in your face and you end up smelling gasoline throughout your meal — Literally cut up bread, tomatoes, apples and something else I don’t remember, on a tray. Zero attempt at presentation. — The cheese is just not good in quality and tastes awful. 2. WINEFLIGHTS ha!!! — «We don’t do flights anymore we just give you one glass of wine of your choice. It comes out to the same amount because a flight is three glasses, one third of a glass each» ??? Where do I start with this? First in the groupon you say it’s three HALFGLASSES not three THIRDS of a glass. Second of all the point of a wine flight is that you get to TRY different wines, I don’t really care that having one glass comes out to the same — I wanted to try different ones. On top of it, if you want to stop serving flights CALL GROUPONANDASKTHEMTOCHANGETHEDEAL. Third, each glass is between $ 8 – 11 or so, so ordering the most expensive glass of wine each would make the value $ 22 —– Where did you get a value of $ 36? 3. Sherry — ok, but experience was already ruined. Add to this complete disorganization. Waitress(new or something?) told us up front that we are not getting wine flights and not getting sherry either… lol no apologies. After I’ve shown her the groupon she just said«we don’t do it anymore». So WTF? I paid for it already AND I’m here AND when I called to reserve none of this was mentioned. A manager was called and she finally decided we will get our sherry at the end… still no apology at all from anyone… what a ruined night. All in all the deal was a $ 75 value: Fondue $ 25, Wine $ 18 total, Sherry $ 14 = $ 57 which is definitely not $ 75. I don’t remember how much I paid but definitely not worth it. Groupon is supposed to be a vehicle for obtaining new clientele… How do you think it makes you look when a first time customer comes in with a deal you put out and the first thing they hear is that you don’t do this anymore, you don’t do that either… on top of it from a rude waitress who has an argumentative tone? BIGFAIL!

Came in last night to celebrate a birthday. I was immediately satisfied with the incredibly intimate atmosphere. I automatically knew that this was a place I would want to return. We arrived right when their doors were opened at 5pm. We browsed the flight/wine menu. I decided on the Chardonnay-Hail To The Queen flight-$ 14. I also ordered the truffle Mac n Cheese. All of the wines in the flight were excellent! The truffle Mac n Cheese was slammin’! I’m going to go out on a limb and say that was the best Mac n Cheese I’ve ever had. Even better than my aunt’s Mac n Cheese that I grew up eating. It came out piping hot and was incredibly creamy and cheesy. After my Chardonnay flight I finished off the night with about 3 glasses of Malbec which was very delicious. I also tried the red sangria which was also delicious. Service was kind of slow at times but the service was incredibly friendly and genuine. As the evening went on more and more patrons began to come in. I’d definitely consider making a reservation if you’re coming in on a weekend after 7pm. Winegasm was a great find and I will definitely be back and bring my friends!

Winegasm has been on my list of places to try for a few years now. My best friend and I finally made our way to Winegasm and enjoyed every minute of our time there. We arrived at 5 and were seated promptly since we were the first one’s there. Our waitress was nice, and pretty attentive until the place started filling up. We ordered two flight of wine, hummus, goat cheese & beet salad, as well as the truffle mac n cheese. The wine was great as was my salad. The hummus was good but not the best I’ve had.(My grandmothers hummus is honestly the best ever.) my bff liked her mac n cheese as well. The ambiance was nice and décor was perfect for a wine bar. I’d definitely like to go back and try some of their other wines from their extensive list.

The fondue is delicious but service could be a little better. It’s tiny and can be uncomfortable when there is too many people. Overall, a cute place to stop in.

Came here a few times last year and loved it. They had a good wine collection, great food and service. My friends and I had a good time. This is the reason why I am giving 3* and not 2. Two days ago I decided to celebrate my b-day with 10 people here and made a reservation. Got there earlier, and I was told they got busy and didn’t have a table for me… «But we can slowly take over the bar!» We managed to slowly, and I mean slowly take over the community table, almost as slow as the service. I can’t blame the staff. They were way understaffed, had no bartender or bus boy. On top of that they had a 15 wines wine list, way smaller than what I remember and they started running out of things quickly. It would take them 15 min to get back and tell us they were out of Malbec, and then another 15 to tell us they were out of Shiraz, so we just ask for whatever they have: Pinot Noir. There seemed to be a manager walking around with big smiles but other than that she seemed lost. The waitresses were nice buy overwhelmed… My friends and I, we all worked at one point in hospitality and we were very disappointed. This review is mostly for the owner and the running stuff: please get it together. You have a wine bar with 15 choices? 2 people on the floor on a busy FRI night with no buss boy and no bartender? The reservation wan’t honored… I don’t like posting bad reviews but this place needs a wake up call. Will not come back, sorry, Astoria has some good other places.

I had a pretty good time here. The restaurant is pretty tiny but attracts some of the cooler cats of Astoria. Why was I there? Good question, trying to be cool I supposed. Either way, my boyfriend and I stumbled across the gem because of groupon. We were immediately greeted by one of the servers who was very kind and offered is a spot at the bar while we waiting for the tables. My man and I ended up sitting at the bar because it was quite cosy. We ordered the steak crostini(thanks Unilocal for the suggestion), the cheese fondu, and a flight of the Chardonnay, Pinot, and champagne. The steak crostini was delicious. They use some of red bell pepper magic that they add to the crostini that rounds out the flavor well, and the beef is cooked to perfection. The fondu was actually quite delicious, and if I return, will definitely try it again. The wine flight was great. I loved the champagne and the Chardonnay(tasted buttery, mmmm.) 4 stars because the bartender was a bitch grouchy in the beginning(because we were groupon-ed) and the server who gave us our bill kept reiterating what the«actual price is, and that we tip on actual price.» Yes, I know that. Sorry there were some bad apples but I know how to do math, groupon reminds you on the voucher, and I’m not a stingy a-hole. Other than that, good times. Furthermore, if you have a groupon, don’t be an a-hole with the tip. Servers shouldn’t have to remind you.

Mostly a tapas eatery the few items I had were yummy. Truffle man n cheese, truffle fries and fried calamari. The white wine sangria was very dry and not sweet at all. The setting is small and dimly lit. Nice for wine with the girls, after work or intimate setting. I can see how it may be more poplar during the spring g and summer. I will return then to see more food and beverage options.

Went there with high hopes only to be disappointed. The reason why I put two stars instead of one because it must have been a fluke. The bartender seemed like she was covering a shift for someone as it didn’t seem like it was her regular job. Couldn’t find certain drinks and the lady next to me had to request her hummus order about three times only receiving a smile and the check(no hummus) The kitchen seemed to be very unorganized and the manager working seemed to be lost. Again from all the other positive reviews perhaps going on a Tuesday right after work doesn’t look like the time to go Willing to give another chance because t seems to have so much potential.

Love the décor here. Prices of bottles are absolutely reasonable. I haven’t had any of the food here yet, but some of the ppl that frequent it had allot of great things to say. There’s something on the menu containing salmon which will give me nightmares. I don’t remember what it was, but that is probably a defense mechanism. Staff seems nice as well.

Came here with friends after having dinner at a different location. I was still hungry so I ordered the truffle mac n cheese with bacon. After some debate we went with a bottle of white from Argentina, I don’t remember the name. The person that waited on us was helpful and nice. We got our bottle of wine and chatted. Then the truffle mac n cheese came out. Omg it was delicious. My friends claimed they weren’t hungry but ended up eating half of the plate lol. The décor is rustic wood and metal elements with low lighting. It’s a small space with a few seats outdoors. This place is a nice spot to end the night with a glass of wine.

We had a great experience using a groupon at Winegasm. My mother purchased the groupon good for two wine flights and a cheese fondue. They have tons of flights to choose from and do not charge extra if you decide on one of the more expensive flights(my mothers $ 19 flight vs my $ 13 one). The cheese fondue itself was really good. The mixture of Swiss, Cheddar and Gruyère was heaven. It came with awesome bread, carrots and apples to dip– I wasn’t a fan of the apple and cheese combination– I wish they had more dipping vessels like mushrooms and broccoli perhaps. We also ordered the truffle fries and the steak crostini. Everything was yummy. The food menu itself is pretty small, so take a look before coming in to make sure to find something you like. Service was really good and we were also offered free samples of their house sangria — red and white!

It pains me to update my previous review, because this was one of my favorite restaurants in Astoria, but my most recent visit to Winegasm was absolutely awful. I had dinner here on Thursday night and the place wasn’t crowded at all so we decided to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. The first annoyance was that my glass of red wine was cold. Not cool… but cold. It was colder than the beer that my boyfriend ordered, which was another issue. We ordered 4 meals to share: the watermelon feta salad, the macaroni and cheese, the meatballs, and the Prosciutto & Arugula Pizzetta. In my past experiences, Winegasm would bring out 2 dishes at a time but this time they brought all 4 out at once. The tables here are small enough as it is, but what I was most surprised at was how quickly the food came out. The macaroni and cheese which is usually insanely hot was lukewarm. Same with the pizzetta. The biggest problem with the food was the meatballs we received. 5 come in the pot so we each took one and when I took a bite of the meatball it was COLD! It tasted as if it had been sitting out for over an hour(which made me understand how the food came out so fast). We literally could not eat them so we notified our waitress and she said she would ask the chefs to remake the meatballs. She returned to our table with the 3 meatballs she originally took from us, as opposed to entirely replacing the meal. We weren’t able to eat the 2 meatballs on our plates so we were immediately down 2, and they didn’t even offer to buy us a round of drinks or remove the price from our bill. It was like a slap in the face to us because we have eaten here so many times and I could not believe the poor customer service we were experiencing. But we should have known — it was dead on a Thursday evening. It is such a shame. This was one of the first restaurants we went to when we moved to Astoria two and a half years ago but we now have no desire to return.

Service here was great. Special thanks to Darko, the bartender when my friend and I went here. He was so hospitable and brought us like five free drinks — all of which were delicious(«French Kiss» was my favorite, haha). Truffle fries here are quite delicious. I’ve had a lot of truffle fries and these weren’t the best, but they weren’t the worst. They were solidly good. Fondue was pretty good — wish they had more things to dip in the cheese(we had croutons, apples, carrots). Cheese itself was okay — not impressed. A bit bland and the flame went out early on. Steak crostini was decent. Steak was very well flavored but the cheese wasn’t melted enough and tasted like plastic. Bread was excellent.

I’ve been coming here for quite some time now and I love this place! They have tons of wines to choose from! Get the pink moscato if you like sweet wines! The food is great too! The menu is small but I highly recommend the truffle Mac and cheese and the steak crostini! Actually the steak crostini is amazing! They used to have bacon wrapped prunes which was highly addicting too but apparently just found out last night that they have a new menu for the summer and that isn’t on it :-(I do hope they bring that back! The place is kinda small though so try and come early. I know they take reservations so perhaps do that before just showing up on a weekend. Weekdays are better for just showing up and getting a table. The place is run by a man named Darko– and he’s awesome! Very polite and very accommodating :-) Definitely check out winegasm if you are in the Astoria area.

Lovely winebar!!! I was out having brunch with friends and we weren’t ready to go home. My friend recommended Winegasm… When we walked in, it was extremely hot so we sat outside. Our waiter Paul was extremely nice, helpful, funny. Simply amazing!!! We asked to sample the red sangria(it reminded me of Christmas). The bartender behind the bar seemed annoyed that he gave us a smaple. Not sure what that was about. Appetizer: We were extremely full but we tried the Truffle mac & cheese w bacon mmmmm it was really good, creamy and the bacon just gave it great flavor. Drinks: ROSÉ&WHITESANGRIA– Very light and refreshing REDSANGRIA– our waiter described it as” christmas”. …Wth? It was exactly as he said. It wasn’t my cup of tea and ITDID reminded me of christmas. Kind of cinnamon flavorish. I definitely will be back. I had a great time and service was grrreatt
