Alright. I’m going to write this review as a public service. This is a great store for avid readers open to reading previously used books. In fact, the fiction section is by far the best and most of the books are in good condition. The cook book section is shabby. The health/wellness section decent. The kids section huge. The travel section absolutely abysmal. The average customer could pick up two books for $ 10 with a little looking around. Then again, if you are a book liver into used books, I’d try the library… Ok. The two stars are because selling items here is RIDICULOUS. I’m in my 30s, have lived lots of places and am an avid reader. Every couple of career moves I empty my personal library at used bookstores in similar size and scope as this place. This store is hands down the cleanest and most organized store of its kind that I’ve ever encountered. Almost too clean, if you know what I mean. Still sounds like a 5 star situation, right? Sure– unless you are selling. I’m cleaning out the home library, not trying to make money. I’m telling you that this is the Scrooge-iest buying outlet anywhere. I truly collected about 1⁄5 of what I expected and I was guessing conservatively. I’m not shopping here or selling again just on principle. I’ll also say that with the exception of ONE employee I’ve encountered, the place seems to be run by people who are unnaturally MELLOW and seem ready to snack– read between the lines here. I’ve taken 3 different sets of boxes to the place and this last time I waited 90 mins, with 1 seller in front of me with two shopping bags. Finally they called my number and then short-changed me by $ 10. I didn’t notice until I was several miles away. Ugggggggggggggggh. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this irritation station. Go to the library or take your books to a friend.

Question: Where was this during my undergrad years at UGA!!! Located right next to Hobby Lobby on the Westside of Athens. Stellar parking. Spots everywhere. I LOVE2nd& Charles. The other location I’ve been to is in Kennesaw, GA. Not too far from Midtown ATL. I saw this 2nd& Charles randomly when I was in Athens heading home and thought, «What?! They built this here!?». Apparently, they’ve been open for almost a year now. When I was younger, I’d spend so many hours at a Borders or B&N. But now… Borders is gone. Some B&Ns have survived. But those shops had only books, music, some games, and etc. The reason why I like 2nd& Charles so much more is because… they have EVERYTHING. I mean it, EVERYTHING. Tbh, I’d go here to buy a gift for someone. Also, great place to buy a gag gift or a white elephant gift. The things you find here would be the center of attention at any gift exchanging party, hah. Hilarious shirts, random food, solid music collections, variety of books, loads of movies, and all kinds of games for all sorts of gaming systems. They also have all sorts of electronics. What else can you ask for? #geekingout Did I mention, they have the coolest kid toys here? Once I found a lightsaber… I almost got it, but it was like $ 40, hahaha. Not that crazy for one. But it was so cool. Seriously, if you haven’t gone to a 2nd& Charles here in GA, you’re missing out!

So glad that 2nd and Charles has opened in Athens! I have been to their Augusta location a few times, but this is only a few minutes from home. Great selection that is ever-changing. New and used, books, DVDs, vinyl, comics, video games and enough pop culture goodies to please about any fandom. Some of the items are pricey, but come in with some time to spare and dig for hidden treasures. The hunt is half the fun right?!

Really eclectic selection of books, records, movies and video games. Prices run a little high, but it seems to be a local place, so it’s nice to support local businesses.
