I wish I would have checked the reviews before eating here. As mentioned in a lot of the other reviews our service was poor to say the least. Yes she took our food and drink order and delivered the check but that was all. My beer glass remained empty at the end of the table for quite some time. I would like to say it was because they were busy but that was not the case all four tables the waitress had looked either not needy or neglected. One bright spot was the Chicken Parmesan and French Dip were good but the fries were quite underdone. When I went to the wait staff station and asked for some a bit more crispy they came out just as quickly and not much more done.

Worst service ever! I’ve been here multiple times and each time I wait over 45 minutes for my food. On my last visit everyone’s food came out and a different times. One person in our group didn’t get his food until everyone was finished and half of the party’s food was cold. They also had no remorse when we complained. Stay away at all costs!

We went there for lunch during the week. I expected really poor quality everything but it really wasn’t bad at all. My fiancé had the black bean burger… Amazing!

Terrible service. Booked a date party there and had a tab of $ 635 and the assistant manager approaches me very rudely telling me he over-charged the tab by $ 15 and needed me to cover the difference. How does a bar over charge a limited tab that I gave them hours before the party started? Not my problem.

Worst bar ever!!! Worst waiter and worst environment. If you have any other options, don’t go there.

My group of 4 ate here for dinner recently. When the four of us arrived the waitress came to take our drink orders. We received our drinks(champagne slushies are still delicious as ever) promptly, but still weren’t ready to order food. Our waitress vanished for a bout 20 minutes. I know there were only 2 servers working, but the restaurant was not busy when we sat down at 7:00. There were lots of empty tables, and a few of the tables were occupied by those who were just drinking, not there for food. We didn’t come to Broneys with the expectation of having great service, but we did expect that our waitress would be more attentive than she actually was. Our food took a long time to arrive given that we ordered chicken tenders, fries, and a club sandwich. I think we waited about 45 minutes for our food. When our food arrived, my friend’s sandwich was on the wrong bread and the waitress had forgotten a couple of extra sauces we ordered. Not a big deal, but because the service had been pretty iffy so far, it was harder to ignore. The food was a notch above standard bar food; iit was hot, and it was reasonably priced. I would definitely give the food here 3 stars, as long as you stick to the greasy fried offerings. Another issue that I noticed was the ambiance, or lack thereof. I usually avoid Broneys after 9:00 or 10:00 when the bros start coming in, but we figured that by dining at 7, we’d be out the door before the real bar crowd started arriving. We were wrong. There was evidently a Greek formal this weekend, and towards the end of the meal, the bar was mobbed. We were glad that we were almost finished with the meal, but the bar turned the lights off while we were still trying to finish our food. Our table was surrounded by drunk couples – fighting and making out. My friend went to the bathroom and came back to report that every sink was clogged with puke. I won’t fault the bar for… being a bar. We mostly shrugged it off, but we were really looking to leave, so when we received our checks we were ready to pay and get out. The waitress said she wasn’t sure how she was going to figure out our drink orders. Why didn’t she record who ordered what? This didn’t make sense whatsoever. So she had to take away our checks to revise them. My friend had ordered one drink at the bar and the bar took her card. This shouldn’t have been a big deal, but it evidently was because the waitress returned to say that the bar had lost my friend’s card. We were waiting for TWENTY minutes as they scrambled to find it, and of course, the crowd around us only became more drunk and obnoxious. I almost never tip less than 20%, but the waitress only got a 15% tip from me because of her carelessness and ineptitude. Not sure if it was poor training, but it was unacceptable. One mistake is understandable; we had consistently terrible service from her throughout the night, even before the bar became chaotic. The service would merit a 1 star rating, but because the food was 3 stars, I am going with a 2 star rating. Now that Jackie O’s isn’t serving food, there are fewer options for good bar food. Broney’s is certainly not stepping up to fill the void.

Would give less if possible. Food is not bad but service is horrible. Have waited at least an hour for food the last two times I’ve eaten here. Now as I sit her waiting for my drinks going on 35 minutes now I have decided that this establishment will no longer get my business. This place is in desperate need of a «Bar Rescue».

Delicious champagne slushes aside, the bar is pretty miserable. It might as well be spelled BROney’s and have a sign that says«BROney’s Alumni Grill, Sponsored by Axe Body Spray, Sideways Visors, and Spray Tans». I haven’t been in town in a few years since graduating, but from what I hear from friends still in Athens, it hasn’t changed. Also, I had a few single female friends get harassed there and management sort of just did nothing about it. So. Yeah. If that sounds appealing to you, check out Broney’s! And also, do the rest of us a favor and stay there.

Likes: +Good beer selection +Extra parking across the street at the Armory(a bit hidden if you don’t know it’s there) +Locally owned +Turns into a dance party on Friday nights Dislikes: –Turns into a dance party on Friday nights –Has a ‘TGI-Friday’s-esque’ menu with mostly greasy bar food –Like all Athen’s bars, the clientele can be unbearable(townies/undergrads) Beware: Every single girl you go here with will love and rave about the Champagne slushies like they are God’s gift to humanity. Personally, I’ll take a shot of Jägermeister over a glorified snow cone anyday.

I was here with a pretty large group. They waitress was accommodating. I can’t speak for the speed of the service, as I wasn’t in a rush. The food is what can be called decent bar food. Portions were fairly large. I ordered the Chipotle Black Bean Burger, juicy. It tasted like it was straight off the grill. Their iced tea is nothing to brag about, tasted sugar free. But I LOVE the peach champagne slushie! That slushie on the patio during the summer= all smiles Not really sure about the problem with the crowd. It is in a college town, so it is expected. Maybe it is more apparent, if you choose to sit inside or come late. I had a good time though.

I was there this weekend and go there two times: First time the waitress was nice, my drink one margarita that was ok for the price was perfect but I wait 45 minutes for my bill and leave food classical bar food so nothing special. Second time I came back for some drinks with my friends and I ask for Johnny walker blue label and the bartender reply my order with«blue label is too expense» I was mad and said him that my money is my problem so he said something to the owner that I saw him drinking with customers so probably he was drunk I spoke with him very nice what happened and said him that I want leave of his bar he became mad and the security come kind of aggressive and kick me out after that I said him that I want leave so was a really bad experience for me by the way I learn that 15 dls drink is too expense in this kind of bar

Context: Drinks with a Friend Time of Visit: Sunday, 9:00PM Preface: I was there at the end of Mom’s Weekend, so campus was abnormally quiet for Spring. I won’t waste your time: Kiarash Z’s review is pretty spot-on. Even on a Sunday night, with few other patrons, it still took an inordinate amount of time to get the attention of the bartender. But that champagne slushy(which was recommended by my friend and our sole reason for stopping)…it is the stuff dreams are made of. Admittedly, I have a sweet tooth, but sweetness aside it was still outstanding. I could sit on their patio and drink those for hours on end. And $ 5 for a pretty big glass, a bargain to boot… Don’t know when I will be in Athens next, but you will probably see me at Broney’s with one(or two-judge if you want) champagne slushies in hand.

I completely agree with Rob D. when he said that Broney’s lacks character. The word I would describe the interior of Broney’s is «cold». It’s just a bunch of concrete and wood. Most nights the music is earsplittingly loud, which could be understandable when it’s packed, but this is the case even when there are 15 people in the place. I will say that Broney’s has very good weekday drink deals and their beer selection is top-notch. Unless they’ve changed, it’s $ 2.50 pints of anything on tap on Wednesdays. I really enjoy being able to grab a few pints of good beer when it’s warm enough to relax on the patio. When it comes to my choice of bars, Broney’s isn’t at the top of my list, but the drink specials and nice patio area keep it as a bar that I’ll definitely stop into every once in a while.

This bar sticks out like a sore thumb in Athens. Lacks character and caters to a very distinct crowd of students that most OU students are embarrassed to be lumped in together with. I will hand it do them though they do the cleanest bar in town but that only gets you so far. The food is very below average and their staff acts as if they are God’s gift to bar-tending. I literally saw someone thrown out for not tipping. The owner of the bar is generally there(he fits in with the students he caters too) and was extremely rude to myself and my party several times(a group of alums in town). Since that night I have never been back to this bar and would highly suggest that folks take their business to another tavern in town.

The aptly named Broney’s is loaded with college bros and bimbos. The food stinks, and the service is painfully slow. But Broney’s has an ace in the hole: peach champagne slushies. I could spend an entire afternoon on the porch, sucking down those cupfuls of heaven with a few friends. I’m told the bathrooms are exceptionally clean for a place that caters to the drink-till-you-puke-brah crowd. If you go, you might want to pack headphones or earplugs, because the squeals from the heygirls as they greet one another are hard to stomach.
