Went in for lunch and had the ribeye sandwich, side house salad, and fried okra. The okra was very delicious, but everything else was subpar. The side salad was very small, watery and aesthetically unappealing. The ribeye in the steak sandwich was good by itself, but I felt as though for $ 10 the entrée should have come with something more than just steak, bread and onions. Overall just an average meal.

Here’s the plan Charlie: 1) Make sure you have enough staff on hand to handle just a normal dinner service. Short staff means poor service and a long wait. We all know poor service gets in the food and makes things taste like butt. 2) You don’t get to charge $ 1 per deviled egg if you serve bland, predictable, boring deviled eggs. There is some serious deviled egg competition in Athens and you are embarrassing yourself. 3) I love that chicken and dumplings is on the menu. I was excited about it. But it was a disappointment. For $ 14 it just has to be better. It tasted like it came out of a can, and there was very little chicken. On a good note: 1) The chicken livers were very tasty! 2) Great job with the crab cakes!

Outstanding wait staff, excellent owner and quality dishes that will have you coming back for more. The prime rib and catfish are always on time and sure to please.

the wife and i heard from a friend that this place was good for brunch. so on a lazy rainy sunday, we embarked on a brunch experience. and what an experience it was; just not a good one. the atmosphere is very nice. and i’d say the place caters to an upscale audience, but it’s in the wrong part of town as the eastside of athens is not known for keeping doors open for places with this menu and pricing right after we sat down and ordered the waitress brought our drinks and rolls. the rolls were the highlight of the meal. they were moist, warm, and delicious. we ordered deviled eggs as an appetizer. the eggs were very good and it was plated with a side of pimento cheese. cheese seems to be made in house and fresh. but it was extremely salty. the wife ordered the meatloaf for brunch. it came with a side of mashed potatoes, that’s it. the only thing enjoyable about the plate was, sadly, the mashed potatoes. they were prepared from scratch. the meatloaf however was less than ideal. meatloaf was EXTREMELY dry. and i mean dry. almost seemed like it was cooked the night before and was thawed out on the hot plate and continued to sit there for hours before being served. my wife asked for a1 sauce because it tasted like a well done flank steak. i couldn’t begin to tell if it was made of meat or mostly bread crumbs as the whole thing was as dry as a slice of wheat toast at the suggestion of the waitress, i ordered the loaded baked potato soup and gourmet mac n cheese. mac n cheese was called«bbq chicken bacon gouda mac n cheese.» but again i was disappointed. if gourmet means throwing over cooked ingredients together last minute onto the plate and serving it, then this place has gourmet down to an art. the bacon on the mac was cooked a bit too dry and hard. the bbq chicken was not bbq chicken by any stretch of the imagination. what was in my bowl was neither bbq nor chicken, much less bbq chicken. perhaps it was chicken jerky. as i sifted the food over in my bowl i saw the puddle of oil at the bottom. i guess somebody forgot to inform the chef that bacon doesn’t need to be served in it’s own fat drippings. now what looked like macaroni pasta tasted like macaroni. but i couldn’t get over how oil-soaked the mac n cheese was. as for the loaded potato soup let’s just say«loaded» to this place means empty. my «loaded potato» soup consisted of cream, potato, cream, and get this… a spoon. no bacon, no chives, barely any shredded cheese on top. so i guess the«loaded potato» soup was just potato soup. no need for loaded to be in the title. at least the waitress wasn’t terrible. and we had a coupon. hooray for a discount on a sub par meal at least the presentation of the food was good to go along with the décor

My girlfriend and I were looking to try somewhere we had never been, and we stumbled upon Charlie Nobles. it was so good! I had the London broil and she got the salmon and both were amazing. Great service, great food. Highly recommended.

We have been here twice now and loved it both times. We have had the praline chicken(twice) and fried chicken, fried pickles, sweet potato souflee, squash casserole, apple pie, and chocolate tarte. Everything was delicious. Service was great! Will be back!

OMG! What great meal that was. We had chicken and dumplings. I really didn’t know what to expect but it was great. There were tender pieces of chicken in a great broth with wonderful dumplings. We both had a side of green beans and it had the most delightful unusual flavor. We finished it off with a blackberry cobbler. Mmmmm good. Tomorrow I’m going to weigh another 5 pounds more. The service was excellent and we were treated like we had been a customer for years. In addition it’s an easy in and out and the parking is very convenient.

Just had brunch here. It was our first visit and am so impressed I had to write a review. First of all, the service and overall vibe is great. Music selection and volume was appropriate and the whole layout has a nice rich feel without being stuffy. Prices are beyond reasonable. Food wise, everything we ordered was excellent and we even asked to look at a dinner menu because we were already planning to come back and try the rest of their menu! For appetizers, we ordered the deviled eggs and I definitely recommend them. 5 eggs were wonderfully prepared and was served with a scoop of pimento cheese stuff that was a hit. The Ceasar salad is authentic, made to order with raw egg and high quality anchovy. The omelet of the day was crab meat and garlic, the white lump crab was very fresh and expertly cooked. The side of grits was good, just the right amount of cheese and seasoning. Portions were generous. The French toast, to die for! I will definitely be getting that again. Served with chantilly cream, fried apples and fruit mix. Almost like dessert for breakfast I am so happy we found Charlie Nobles in Athens. By far the best brunch spot in town. I look forward to going back and trying more of their menu. I hope they thrive!

Tonight was my first time eating here. I came in with high expectations since this restaurant is owned by the same person who owns George’s Low Country Cooking(which is great!). This restaurant exceeded my expectations. We were seated quickly and the waitress brought out fresh rolls that were very tasty. I tried the salad with a ranch dill dressing that tasted homemade and was very good. I ordered the pecan crusted chicken with macaroni and cheese and fried okra as my sides. The other people in my party ordered the fried catfish, the meatloaf, different types of macaroni and cheese, sweat potato casserole and the cole slaw. EVERYTHING was delicious. We finished off our meal with blueberry cobbler. The atmosphere was nice, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was incredible. What more could you want? We will definitely be eating here again. I think this is one of the best restaurants in town.

First time in here. I had fried chicken with squash casserole and sweet potato soufflé was out of this world. Very good! Other people in my party had meatloaf with mashed potato and collards. Also wonderful!

I had a wonderful first dining experience here last night. The décor is elegant and inviting, even somewhat romantic. Despite an almost-full dining room we were seated immediately and our server was pleasant and attentive. The menu has a diverse selection of gourmet Southern dishes. I opted for the cast-iron pork chop and my companion had the London Broil. The chop was bone-in and drenched in a mildly sweet bacon jam. You’ve got to love some good pork-on-pork action. It was juicy and delicious and far more than I could eat. The sides are the stars of the show here. Between us we had the mashed potatoes, squash casserole, collards, and Mac n cheese. I could rave about the collards: tender and so fresh! Despite being southern style, nothing was overly-salty or overlooked. Another pleasant surprise was my cocktail, their house version of a Long Island of sorts. Whoever was working the bar knows how to pour. How nice and unusual to get a drink in this town that isn’t watered down and syrupy sweet! And slightly«mature» women love getting carded-that alone will usually bump a server up into the 25% tip tier in my book so keep it up. Casual elegance, great food and service– we have a win here on the Eastside. Will definitely be returning soon.

Enjoyed our first visit to this new East Athens restaurant. Arrived shortly after a large party, so service was unsuprisingly a little on the slow side, but management more than made up for it by proactively making out visit more pleasant(I was debating between a draft beer and a wine and they brought me both to sample, they brought my daughter’s food out early, they gave me their wifi passcode so I could keep her entertained). The sides I had were amazing: sweet potato casserole, squash casserole, and I stole bites of my daughter’s mac and cheese and mash potatoes — all yummy! I went on a limb and tried chicken liver for the first time. It wasn’t my favorite thing ever, but good and not chewy, very tender. The dipping sauce they served with it was really tasty. I didn’t love the London Broil — the sauce and blue cheese were really savory, but the meat was too chewy for my taste. I think it was skirt steak though, which I don’t usually order(I’m a ribeye girl, so next time I will try that!) The one area that fell short was desert. My banana pudding was kind of a congealed mess. It was just plopped in a bowl, didn’t look great and didn’t meet my expectations in the taste arena. My grandmother’s banana pudding remains undefeated. All in all, a good experience. They just opened and I’m sure they will work out the kinks!
