Service waiting for the wristband at the front bar was poor to say the least. One worker was socializing with friends. So I had to yell across the bar to ask for help from the Asst Manager who didn’t look too happy to help either. Needless to say a movie theater that is based on service would do well to train employees that it starts from the time one walks in the door. The only reason i rated the review with a two was other employees i encountered made up the slack. My third visit and the other two visits were great so I’m hoping this was an anomaly.

I wish I could leave a zero star review… today was the first time in over fifteen years that I walked out of a movie — and it had nothing to do with the movie. Anyone impressed by this place has been on the Red Box and $ 2 theater circuit for far too long. I get that their shtick is dinner /drinks /service in the theater etc. but they should really consider a cut-off point. And they should be instructed to lower their voices while taking orders from people who could have just bought a goddamn soda in the lobby and not interrupted everyone else’s viewing experience for the novelty of having their over-priced sugar water trudged across the theater by some doofus with a glowing tablet. Athens needs an Alamo Drafthouse. The seats are rigid. The screen is so off-center that the middle seat is still ten feet to the left or right… The sound was fine, I guess. I just genuinely disliked nearly everything about this place. Supposedly they shut down and invested millions to renovate and adopt this format. They’d have been better off buying stock in Volvo. I can confidently say I won’t return. I’d rather watch a bootleg cam in my living room on dial-up than have to deal with these clown shoes. There’s a far better theater that does something similar in a much more pleasant setting on the other side of town that I’ll continue to give my business.

This is the Ovation theater now. I love the experience — great big seats, alcohol drinks, and good food. We had the pizza with a few mixed drinks, and was surprisingly good. I was not expecting much, but was surprised the pizza was good. Only dislikes are: — Screen was far too dim and needs to be brighter. Maybe it was the only thing not renovated from the old theater here. — Bathrooms too small Overall, worth it for the big comfy seats. No need to worry about who is sitting in front of you here or sharing that arm rest.

This is a newly renovated above average theater. The staff have always been smart and friendly. The service is typically quick and good. The matinée prices are a steal– especially if you do bottomless popcorn and for two. I’m generally surprised that I don’t see the house full more often. What’s up, Athens? Keep this place open and busy!
