Great gyro’s, we go here all the time for a quick lunch off Prince

Very friendly and prompt. Plus, very honest. I left my Ipad outside their door, waiting on a ride back to the campus and one of the staff picked it up and saved it for me when I got back. RS

Tazikis is no joke! Pasta dish with chicken is out of this world. Went back tonight for dinner and ordered the grilled lamb gyro. Excellent!!! Very friendly staff and management. I highly recommend Tazikis to all of Athens. I will be a regular for sure.

Second visit — not likely to return. This evening my husband and I received a pile of crumbled potato chips(with apologies — «sorry, we’re running low on chips») with our gyros. Why even put them on the plate? The hummus was fine but nothing special — same for the lamb gyros.

Not my favorite, but worth a try. Tastes for ethnic foods vary greatly. Seems like a good family atmosphere. Like Southerners and mayo — we can get fairly blinded to Dukes!

After a bad catering experience, the student group received a very kind email from the owner in which they promised to make some changes to their business in order to avoid miscommunication in the future. The note was so kind. People make mistakes, happens all the time. I’m glad there was some follow up communication and the food really was great tasting. rating has been updated :-)

I fondly remembered attending an event at UGA where food was catered from this Taziki’s(based on the menu I am thinking I had the grilled chicken roll-ups) and finally had the chance to go to the restaurant. I had high expectations and ordered a lamb gyro, which was DELICIOUS! However, I was disappointed with the roasted new potatoes because they were too salty. That won’t discourage me from coming back since I have otherwise enjoyed all the food I’ve had from here, but I may not get that«healthy side» again.

Thrilled to have found this place recently! I’ve been here twice in the past few weeks and absolutely love it! Fresh ingredients and an authentic Mediterranean taste leaves me wanting more every time! Great portion size makes it an unbelievable value. The pimento cheese and bread appetizer is a personal favorite! Also, very kid friendly. They let my daughters design their own gyro, Which was really good!

I had the hummus app and lamb feast. Both were delicious. I highly recommend the hummus dip, large portion, good price and very delicious. Lamb was very flavorful and the salad and potatoes complimented it very well. Very satisfied pallet upon departure.

In general I am a very generous star giver, pluses were the taziki sauce, very fresh and flavorful. Gyro fair, meat pieces to big and lack luster. Overall, just fair.

I’ve been several times, and have had consistently great food. I have had several things from the menu — the lamb skordalia is my favorite. I really love the roasted lamb as well(the lamb is always perfect!). I also love the rice, the potatoes… oh, the baklava!!! The owner’s great — always ready to jump in at every station(the grill, bussing tables, cash register, etc.), and you can see that reflected in the employees. I’ve always had great service and everyone seems in great spirits. I’ve also used their catering services. Just because of their style of food, they’re a bit limited in what they can provide for a large group, so you won’t have as many options, but the quality and quantity are both on point.

I’m with Joe D. on Taziki’s. Athens doesn’t have a Greek restaurant. I lived in Los Angeles for many years, in Baltimore for awhile, and have also spent a good deal of time in Chicago. All have great Greek restaurants — Chicago’s are the best, both in quality and in number. The San Fernando Valley had a few. My favorite was Firehouse in Reseda, a small place that worked its way up from hamburger stand, run by a guy from Crete whose mama did most of the cooking. When we moved to Jefferson a little over a year ago, we started the search for our favorite ethnic foods. Mexican was no problem. Tlaloc’s would be a standout anywhere, and the new Gringo’s in Jefferson is pretty good. Asian is also not a problem, with good Chinese takeout by Kroger’s and the new library, and decent Japanese food(especially the teriyaki bento!) at Koji’s in Commerce. The other day we found a great little Indonesian place in Doraville, with an Indonesian food lunch buffet no less. Happiness! But our search for Mediterranean food, and Greek particularly, has been frustrating. We’ve looked far and wide for good Armenian, Greek, Lebanese, and Iranian. We’d be happy if we could find one out of four, but no dice so far. I wonder if I could persuade Zankou Chicken to open a branch in Athens? Would great Beirut street food fly in Georgia? There are places that say they are Greek, but really aren’t, like Zoe’s and Taziki’s. They’re Middle Eastern fusion, which can be good, but often means a pale shadow of the real thing. Taziki’s food isn’t bad. It’s tasty, as others have noted. But it’s not the delight that real Greek food is. Of Zoe’s, the less said the better. The other thing we’ve found is places masquerading as Greek, but in fact Israeli, or Turkish, or Georgian. Those cuisines have their charm, and I understand that there may not be much of a market for them, but calling them Greek and hoping nobody will notice the difference is insulting. A few weeks ago we went to restaurant on Pace’s Ferry in Atlanta listed here as Greek, a middle price range place. The menu had Turkish dishes similar to Greek dishes, but with Turkish names. The owner sits down at our table to convince us that Turkish tzatziki is better than Greek. We order some, and it isn’t. The food was pretty good overall, but it wasn’t Greek, yet this man seems to run a thriving concern on what seems a bait-and-switch premise. Back to Athens. KEBA is a clever adaptation of the pita sandwich, but Greek or Armenian it isn’t. The pita place across from the university is pretty good, but Greek or Armenian is isn’t. I know there are Greek people around Athens. I’ve met some of them. I found out about the Greek Festival at the Orthodox Church too late this year, but we’ll be there next year for a shot at the real thing. I just feel that authentic Greek would develop a following, even though it might take time. Tlaloc’s is a good model. As far as I can tell, the owner started it to make food for the Mexican and Central American workers around town. It’s definitely a hole in the wall. But the taste is the real thing,(on the weekends, try the caldo de res!) and when we go there now, the natives outnumber the Latinos.

Second visit, very impressed. Had a lamb dish, friend had a pork dish. Both were very good – the lamb was nicely cooked medium rare. Also had a tasty chocolate dessert. They also have very good customer service. I’ll eat there in the future.

I’ve always found it hard to believe that a town named Athens had zero Greek restaurants. I was hoping Tazikis would finally fill the gap, however a glance at the menu shows that Tazikis isn’t trying to fill that gap. A fast casual restaurant, Tazikis takes a modern, Americanized twist on Greek fare. Craving Spanakopita, I waited for a Wednesday to order the Spanakopita Roll Up. Sadly, the dish was more roll up and less spanakopita. It was heavy on the chicken and light on the spinach, and interestingly served with a side of salsa. The dish tastes good enough, with the saltiness of the feta blending well with the sweetness of the perfectly grilled chicken. Some more spinach would’ve really suited the dish well. In traditional Greek style, the roasted potatoes were perfectly spiced and flavored with a lemony vinegar sauce. Yummy! Speaking of vinegar, the cucumber salad could use less of it. I look forward to trying the gyros on my next visit, but a friend says they are much better than Gyro Wrap. Although Tazikis didn’t meet my lofty expectations, it’s a nice addition to the Athens market, giving a fast casual alternative to the plethora of burrito places. It seems they offer Greek food for people who are afraid of Greek food, but i wish they would add Spanakopita to the menu for those of us who love Greek food. It is Athens, after all.

Came here during opening week and I have to say, I’m impressed. The food was excellent, price was comparable, atmosphere was nice and clean, and the speed was incredible despite the long line to the counter. My friends and I split hummus and taziki dip to start(~$ 5 each), with baked and soft pita. I think the soft pita was better(warm, amazing), and both the dips were tasty. I love taziki(cucumber-yogurt) and this one was perfect. The hummus was creamy and had some extra flavor in there(maybe roasted red pepper?). Would get them again. I had to get a gyro, and I opted for lamb and Skordalia(a thick sauce made from garlic and pita that tastes like gravy) which was an excellent choice. Again, the pita is fantastically thick and soft, and the lamb was so juicy. Veggies inside were perfectly cooked and the combination was an incredible flavor. They have a variety of side options, but I asked for Greek salad(perfect accompaniment) and they have it to me for an extra $ 1.50. It was huge and perfect — highly recommend that if you want a salad. My friends said the grilled veggies were good and the tomato/cucumber salad was nice but had way too many onions. It was also weird that they gave ruffles potato chips… I’d rather get a handful of pita or olives instead. The staff was super helpful and friendly, and very attentive after we sat down(you order at the counter). Overall it’s worth giving it a try and I’ll be interested to see if the quality stays this good over time. I’ll definitely be back. You can’t get gyros this good elsewhere in Athens(which is ironic, given the name of the city).
