This location closed May 2016 for good. The one downtown is still open. Food and service was ok. I wish it was more of a grab and go type of deal with slices in our neighborhood. I come from the pizza belt so I am picky about my pizza and was never impressed with the results from this place.

Different from Transmet downtown. Very delicious. Great service. Highly recommend the weekly specials, flatbreads, soups and appetizers. Also, they have a very good burger… maybe even the best in town. Everything is made from scratch, including the bread, ketchup, pickles, etc.

Great Pizza, Great People and Great Beer. The owner is a lot of fun, Ask for the owner and order Anchovies on your pizza and she will know who recommended you.

I wish I could go back and undo their old negative comments on here! The new owner, Ashley, is fantastic. So personable and accommodating. We held my graduation party here and it was amazing. Great food, private room… Perfect. She’s also a local Athens lady who works her tail off but always with a smile. The kitchen manager is Jose Castro. He also has his own catering business. If you’ve never eaten his food, you are missing out. Castro comes up with all of transmet’s menu items, cooks them when he’s there, and TRAINS his staff to cook the recipes well when he isn’t. Over the 6 years I’ve known Jose Castro, I have never put anything in my mouth that wasn’t delicious. Besides trans, I have the great joy of eating Castro’s food at least 6 times a year. I’m telling you, great place, great food, great people!

Consistently terrible service with average or less food. Soup came out cold… Twice. The people are nice but the food really sucks.

We live in a neighborhood very close to Transmet«West», and were so excited when we moved in to have a neighborhood pizza joint. I’d been to the downtown location multiple times, but the service seemed to worsen with each visit. Transmet West closed about 6 months after we moved in, which was sad… but mysteriously re-opened about 6 months later! Under new ownership I’d heard things had changed for the better, so we decided to give them a go. Once, we tried to call in an order around 6pm on a Sunday night, and after trying 6 or 7 times, I gave up. Another time we ate in and had terrible service! I was fuming, and decided to send Transmet a message via Facebook. I never heard back, or so I thought. Fast forward 7 months and I realize I hadn’t touched my «other» folder(anybody else hate that thing too?!?) which had a message from the new owner Ashley, apologizing profusely and asking us to give them one more chance. So, we took her up on it this past weekend. More than once she came out to make sure all was well, and comped our meal. We will certainly be back and hope the service continues to be of the level we experience recently. We ordered the appetizer sampler and my husband thought the calamari was superbly cooked. Not chewy and just the right amount of crisp from being fried. My 3 yr old enjoyed the meatball, but his favorite part of the meal was a piece of chocolate cake with toffee icing, made in-house. Not too rich and bold, but a nice addition to dinner!

Such a unique restaurant, and the food is fantastic. The lasagna is easily their best dish, it’s fresh and flavorful. Staff is friendly and attentive. Definitely worth checking out!

We stopped here for lunch. We ordered the amazing cheddar beer soup. The trans met sub, delicious. My 3 yr old got grill cheese with pasta salad and mixed green salad. It was inhaled. My hubby got the Philly cheesesteak. He liked it. Jenn was our waitress. I would refer everyone here.

TransMet on Oglethorpe NOW has an amazing Sunday Brunch from 11:00 — 2:00. The menu has something for everyone, from Eggs Benedict to the Country Boy Pizza. And, you can build your own omelet. The food is wonderful and the presentation is a work of art. The friendliest servers in town. If you can’t find your smile today, go to TransMet. Oh, yes, their everyday menu is great, too. Best pizza in town.

Nice clean and friendly place. Stopped by for the first time this afternoon for a slice of pizza and was not impressed. It took a short 10 minutes to be served but the pizza was not even warm. I had two slices one with bacon the other with mushrooms, both toppings were mediocre at best. I did notice that the menu had several other dishes and no one was eating pizza. I have changed my review to 5 stars as I was contacted by the owner who realized their oven thermometer was acting up and after a great return visit changed my mind.

Once was is now not, the food and menu has gone through a transformation, and not for the good. Favorites once on the menu are gone and replaced with more expensive items that doesn’t justify the expense. I had the«carna asada» flat bread«pizza», the garlic completely overwhelmed the pizza, my wife had the cheese steak sandwich, the peppers were half raw and meat was stringy, and also overpriced. They changed chef and it was disappointing. Not going back.

Waitress was very nice and the menu was simple enough. I ordered a medium pizza and it took awhile, but it’s worth the wait. My date had a slice of the vegetarian and she enjoyed it as well. The pizza was great. I will definitely make the trip back.

Sat at the bar and waited a full 10 mins for service, which never materialized. We left. Had high hopes for the new management but were so disappointed with the service.

I was excited that Transmet has re-opened and I’ve visited Transmet four times since. I want this place to succeed so I keep going back to show support. The first visit, food was great, but service was a bit shaky. They were trying so hard to provide good service that they were overbearing. Not going to hold that against them because it was within the first week of re-opening and probably still trying to figure it out. So, five stars for the first visit. Unfortunately, they have not figured it out and it seems like the food has gone downhill too. At least service is consistent… consistently bad. I’ve sat at a table, at a booth, on the patio, and at the bar… no section is immune to the bad service. The service: Just fake the smile and a good attitude even though you’re dying inside. It’s your job. Speaking of job, can I get some service please??? Aside from the first visit, and the hostess, once we are seated, it seems to take an unusually long time to be greeted by the server, get drinks, put in an order, and settle up. By the third trip, we learned that once we are greeted by our server, we need to have our drink and food order ready. So that when the server returns to check on us, we have finished our food and are ready to pay. The food: Lately, it does seem that they are cutting corners. Your regulars are going to notice. The portions are getting smaller and the quality becoming questionable. During my last visit, my pasta was cold. They could have pulled a T-stand and nuked it and I would be none the wiser. But they didn’t and I ate cold pasta because my backside was starting to go numb from sitting too long. I just wanted to get my sustenance and leave, rather than wait some more. I will continue to eat here because I think they will eventually figure it out and then service and food will be amazing.

Just an addendum: I received a nice note from the manager concerning my past complaint, and we came back to give it a second shot, and we’re very impressed with the improvement. BBQ chicken, Louisiana blackened chkn Pizzas and salad were delicious, service was warm & attentive and atmosphere was great. We might have just hit a bad day last time. Was excited to go to a transmet after beingout of town for years. Thought I was going to get the delicious downtown flavor, but was greatly disappointed. I think they’re trying to cut corners. Cheese tasted like imitation, barely any sauce, prosciutto was dry. Bread was dry. Pizza was tasteless. Plus, they won’t let you sit outside until 5. Whats the point?!

Since reopening under new ownership the food has improved about 100%. The pizza crust is much better. The pasta, which I previously dared not order, is now delicious and cooked properly. The lasagna is now cooked fresh to order and delicious, where it used to just sit in a pan until it ran out. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and take a lot of pride in good service. It is unfortunate that this site still accounts for reviews issued under the old ownership, as it is now a very different place. As an added bonus, they now serve liqour!

Transmet on Oglethorpe is under NEWOWNERSHIP! Ignore the old reviews! Ashley is the new owner and she has surrounded herself with amazing folks to assist her in providing great food and great service. The pizza is exceptional and the beer is cold. What more could you ask for? They also have trivia on Tuesdays at 8! It’s awesome!

My wife and I moved to Athens Georgia in the middle of July and we were really excited to have a pizza place, that isn’t a mass chain(e.g., Dominos, pizza hut, etc.) within walking distance of our house. We ordered a regular peperoni, feta and banana pepper pizza and were told we would need to wait 45 minutes to pick it up. This was ominous news and we should have known at that point something was wrong, since when we arrived the place was barren, and everyone seemed bored. My wife and I were both extremely disappointed with the pizza. Frankly it was maybe the worst pizza we’ve ever had. It came with maybe five pepperonis, almost no feta, and barely any peppers. This was infuriating since the toppings were over a $ 1 each, and we definitely didn’t get our money’s worth. It was the worst non-chain pizza we’ve ever had, and we would have been better off ordering from Dominos and/or getting an oven pizza from the grocery. Prior to this experience, I didn’t know a restaurant could produce such bland pizza. Worst of all this is the only pizza place in my area. Overall a huge disappointment, and I’d recommend to anyone interested in trying their pizza to instead just pick up a frozen one at your local grocer. You won’t wait as long, you’ll get more toppings, and the overall flavor will be less bland.

New management with another location down town. Very clean and spacious. Be careful to step up to booths. Orders not always correct and management quick to replace or discount meal. Noisy at times with parking sometimes a problem.

I look forward to reviewing the pizza, assuming it arrives in the next hour or two. Update: though late out of the gate, staff recovery was excellent. The pizza was quite good, with nicely chewy crisp crust.

By far, my favorite pizza in Athens. And … I’m picky. I prefer NYC pizza. But this isn’t NYC and this pizza is as good as it gets in Athens GA.
