Nicks Breakfast and Lunch

3 of us got here just in time for breakfast and it was wonderful. We had 1 person who was elderly with us and the staff were patient and understanding with her. The food was delicious and hot and priced very reasonably. I wish I was in town longer to try more of the menu.
I do wish they would get another bathroom, but next time I am in Athol, I will be back.

This place is perfect for you if you like bland food and clicky staff! This place is perfect for you if you love having youre orders taken down wrong! This place is perfect for you if you dont have taste buds at all!!! So I ordered scrambed eggs that were gewy and potatoes that had no taste at all. The bacon was burnt and the ham under done. I had ordered steak tips that were enjoyable if the waitress took my order down correctly she covered my mashed potatoes with gravy so I sent it back and all she did was smear the old mashed potatoes off and put new ones in that would have been fine if she didnt leave gravy smeared mashed potatoes under the new ones. I have nothing good to say about this place the only reason why they stay around is because the staff befriends therw customers gets to know there personal life and the lonely people who need somone to talk to comes back! The only reason why people go there is because its one of the few breakfast places in town and theg have forgotten what good breakfast taste like. I could cook a better meal at home with a blind fold on my face than they could at nicks. Thanks for the fantastic serve asshole!

Nick’s is a great local café located in the heart of Athol. The place is clean, service is fast, the portions are generous, staff is attentive and friendly. It’s a local hangout for lots of folks, in fact had some locals join us at our table because at 9am on Wed the place was full and we had a few extra seats. Had the Eggs Irish — very tasty with perfectly poached eggs, great hollandaise that was not too fatty or too over cooked. Home fries were tasty prepared with mild spice and paprika, but ½ star off for their not being hot — in fact a few were cold. Coffee was good and refilled promptly. Highly recommend this joint.

Whether you are traveling on Rte 2 through Northern Massachusetts coming or going to the Mohawk Trail or heading for a hike around the Quabbin Reservoir a stop into Nick’s for breakfast or lunch is sure to please.
I am a retired truck driver and have traveled millions of miles and been to THOUSANDS of diners in the U.S. and Canada. Every single one offers a side besides your eggs, meat and toast. Depending on where you are you may be offered home fries, hash browns, grits or a choice of either and in Canada baked beans are also a choice. I personally rate diners on two specific meals. Bacon & Eggs Breakfast and a Burger & Fries lunch or dinner. I believe you should be able to roll into any town and find a place to enjoy one of these comfort meals no matter which State or Province you are in. Diners that offer breakfast «all day» or at least while they are open get Bonus Points. Besides eating in diners for decades I was a short order cook in a few all-​night diners and can sling hash with the best of them.
Nick’s checks every box! Every menu item you expect to see in an American diner and more. They have great specials and have some interesting breakfast sandwich options.
I love their home fries which complement all of their breakfasts nicely and they get Bonus Points for offering breakfast as long as they are open.
The staff is friendly, attentive and earn every cent of the tip you will happily leave them.

Went to Nick’s on a Sunday morning and it was packed, definitely a favorite breakfast spot for the locals. Didn’t have to wait too long for a table and ordered a coffee before realizing it was cash only and all I had was $ 10… My fiancé and I shared a coffee (free refills with a meal), got a water, and split a breakfast of scrambled eggs, home fries, and toast.
The food was great, the service was friendly and fast, and the portion size was perfect for us to split. Best breakfast in the area and filled up 2 people for under $ 10 (tip included)!
BTW the coffee is very strong :)
