Barnes and Noble @ Georgia Tech Bookstore

This is a great example of a University and a book store chain combining forces and providing good service at a great price. I need a portable hard drive and my colleagues said Ga Tech Barnes and Noble. I never thought if B&N for hardware. They had a great selection and a great price, 1TB for $ 113. Almost like Amazon prime but I was able to get it at 9 PM after a short walk from my hotel. Outstanding!

This is not a Barnes & Noble! Tiny! It is a GA Tech bookstore w/​a very small B&N attached. Terrible.

Just got back from Barnes & Nobles to buy a cookbook. I looked online and it said it was $ 17.85, but once I go to checkout I pay $ 30 for the book. I go back and show that it is only $ 17.85 online and I am told that they do not price match with Barnes & Nobles online… I was then told I am «paying for the comfy chairs». How do you not price match with your online price? Will not be back to any Barnes & Nobles in the future and will continue to stick with Amazon here on out.

This bookstore is great! Plenty of study areas, lots of school supplies and things college students might need, and of course a great book selection. Awesome hang out for college students.

I come here a lot and it’s a great bookstore, provided that you understand that it shares its use with a Starbucks, a computer store and a college bookstore. I would rate it my 2^nd-​3^rd favorite in the City — behind Perimeter and Buckhead.
The books are primarily on the first floor. The pickings are varied, more than you might find at other places, but less popular books. The second floor has an excellent selection of math books, which should be no surprise. And it’s possible to read books in the Starbucks downstairs. (The magazines are also close by.)
There’s great space upstairs to do some work, if that’s what you’ve come to do. Many Barnes & Nobel’s doe not have great seating, so this is a step up. And there are great views to the Courtyard.
What’s the downside — this is an odd thing to say, but there are a fair number of folks whom are there because it is a free space. That’s true at a lot of bookstores in downtown areas. But it is a little surprising on a college campus. That detracts from being able to read — and that is mostly upstairs. When GT is in full swing, that’s not such a big deal, but when it’s not, you’ll notice it and it will detract from the experience.
Of course, if your goal is to buy books, you may not notice that, but just the slightly smaller selection — replaced by an excellent selection of GT gear.

I agree this is the nicest BN bookstore. Not only the gatech spirits (and merchandize) are well presented here, the staff were super nice and very helpful. During the celebration week, we were shopping for diploma frames. Ashley at the cashier was particularly very helpful. Finding the right frame first, then patiently opened each box to find the perfect one. Finally she went to the stock room to search for the exact one we couldn’t find on the floor. She went extra mile to provide great customer service, and knowing how heavy these frames were, she always have a pleasant smile carrying them around! Great job BN! This is not an experience that Amazon can match without thethe face to face interactions. B&M stores can be successful indeed!

Expensive and is more focused on selling you merchandise than books. And it gets worse every year as they switch their floor space from book racks to cloth racks and electronic’s displays.

Worst selection of Georgia Tech apparel at outrageous prices. They have at least 10 versions of tank tops out in October and only one women’s zip up hoodie. Everything they do have is limited to small and medium. You’re better off planning ahead and ordering online.

This review is specifically for the Technology Store team. I was so disappointed in the lack of service. I dropped off my Mac for repairs on a Monday, and by the following Monday nothing had been done to my computer. I called three times for an update, and twice my call was not returned. The only update I got was when I called 2 days after dropping off my machine and I was kept on hold for 15 minutes before they could tell me it would still be a few more days. There was no follow-​up, and my messages were not returned.
When I went to retrieve my machine, the apologies were lackluster, bemoaning recent personnel changes (one dude named Matt leaving the store) which caused the backlog. This is Georgia Tech — one of the world’s leading institutions for innovations and technology and supply chain management — and y’all can’t even run a computer repair shop? Seriously, get it together and actually provide some technology support to customers in need.

The is perhaps the nicest Barnes and Noble Bookstore that I’ve ever visited and I have been in a few. As indicated by both the location and name, this B&N is Georgia Tech themed and it’s quite evident when you walk through the door fro 5^th St. The space is huge and the vista unique.
New books are positioned on the wall to the left (East wall) and the checkout is on the right (West wall). There’s also a Starbucks in the adjoining space to the East, however at present it’s going through a remodel and is closed with large orange barrels blocking the main entrance. Books cascade on the right towards a «Technology Center» while the left side is mostly Georgia Tech-​branded merchandise (clothing for the most part) with escalators providing access to a mezzanine-​like second level.
The book selection is quite selection — I didn’t dwell too much in most of the racks, however the Science Fiction, Comics and Animé sections were well stocked (not surprising at GT, no?) And actually compared to the other Atlanta area B&N stores, the collection is quite extensive with some depth to much of the series fiction. The magazine racks (on the left or East wall) was puny — surprising but in retrospect, with everything going digital and this being GT, perhaps not-​so-​much.
Walking though the racks, most of the GT-​branded items were labeled Russell Athletic (which also provides GT’s program gear if I’m not mistaken). If you can’t find something here you’re no looking too hard — it’s like a candy store for a GT fan. Going upstairs you’ll find text books and other school supplies, even some art supplies. This store does a good job providing what most students would need and I would think is very convenient. Unfortunately the store wasn’t very busy (granted, it was after 7:00 PM on a Wed) but with school into summer session that’s to be expected.
The back quadrant has a Barnes and Nobles Technology Center label on it and it’s filled with Apple computers, devices and associated appliances. I didn’t dwell too long in that area but I believe you can pick up what you need to get started in your classes (as far as equipment goes) there. As with all B&N stores the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable regarding their inventory — seems there is a haven for all us book nerds when we fill the itch.
I arrived in the area for a Technology Association of Georgia meeting (at the TRSB building across the street) so arrived by MARTA and walked the 5 or so blocks into the area. I’ve also attended training classes at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center (across Spring St) and this bookstore is very convenient to both venues so you should definitely check it out if your in the area.

The Barnes & Noble bookstore at Georgia Tech is *the* place to purchase Tech apparel and merchandise. Since this is the official campus bookstore, most of the apparel is sourced directly from Russell Athletic, Tech’s official uniform provider. You won’t find a store that carries more Tech gear, except for maybe Tailgaters Alley in NE Atlanta.
I’ve been a regular at this store since it opened in the early 2000s, when I was still a student at Tech. The store is two stories and is connected to the College of Business at Tech Square. The first floor is like a regular Barnes & Noble bookstore except in addition to the bookstore, there are entire sections devoted to Georgia Tech apparel and merchandise, a Starbucks Coffee, a small Apple-​like computer store (opened some time in the past 1 – 2 years), and a small convenience store with snacks and drinks. The second floor contains all of the classroom textbooks and school supplies, like notebooks and backpacks.
If you’re a Georgia Tech fan or are close to someone who is, you owe it to yourself to check out this store. It’s a great place to pick up Tech-​related gifts such as coffee mugs, artwork, ornaments, banners, etc. I’ve purchased a multitude of things over the years including hats, t-​shirts (short and long sleeve), collared shirts, and car accessories such as gameday flags, window decals, and license plates.
I like the relatively deep selection at this store. For example, they have hats and t-​shirts for specific sports such as basketball and golf. They also stock apparel for specific special games such as the ACC Championship Game.
Expect to spend about $ 20 for each hat or t-​shirt. If you’re looking for just a basic tee, you can grab one of the roll-​up t-​shirts (located near the escalators) for $ 15 apiece. They come in 2 – 3 colors (gold, navy blue, and sometimes grey). The inventory is constantly changing, so I try to come at least once or twice a year to check out the new items, usually during the football and basketball seasons.
The bookstore is usually only busy during gameday and at the start of Fall and Spring semesters. Otherwise, browsing and checkout here are a breeze.
The only inconvenient thing about this bookstore is you have to pay for parking. You can park directly next to the bookstore on Spring Street. The street parking spaces are metered and cost $ 2 per hour, administered and enforced by PARKatlanta. Don’t try to get away without paying because PARKatlanta will ticket you. Another option is to park across the street in the Georgia Tech Hotel parking deck. This is usually what I do and it costs less.
Fun fact: I once ran into Calvin Johnson and his mom here!

One of my favorite features of my new neighborhood is that I can walk to this bookstore. However, as a Georgia grad, one of my least favorite features of my new neighborhood is that this closest bookstore is also the Georgia Tech Bookstore. Oh well, you win some, you lose some!
Jacket infestation aside, this is not a bad spot to do some studying, grab a coffee, peruse the bestsellers, and maybe even pick up a bargain book or two. Though the focus is textbooks, they do a pretty good job stocking a limited selection of non-​textbook literature, though the aisles devoted to Japanese animé and science fiction are a little disconcerting. However, when I needed to find a copy of both Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone AND the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe for a birthday gift, they had both in stock and available in a couple of different editions/​formats.
I still do 99% of my book shopping from Amazon, but when I need a title immediately, this Barnes and Noble usually does the trick.

Barnes and Noble at Georgia Tech is a busy, bustling bookstore. We usually make a stop at Barnes and Noble just to grab some Georgia Tech gear. You can park across the street for a small parking fee.
I like the variety of Georgia Tech goodies they offer. I love the smell of coffee as you walk in the store. The store really feels full of energy. College students are everywhere buying books, chatting and sipping coffee.
The place is usually really busy. I’m not really shocked by the high prices. I guess I just never expected items in Barnes and Noble or Georgia Tech gear to be cheap. I mean it’s rare for us to even find Georgia Tech items in area. I’m willing to pay the price to gear up for the game.

This is a typical College Book Store, although they wouldn’t honor our Discover Card coupon.

If you’re coming here looking for non-​textbooks, you’d be better off running to one of the used bookstores for a better and more affordable selection. I’m not a Tech student (I go to state), but it seems like I’d need to have deep pockets to get all my text books here. At any rate, I am also an English Lit major, so… I literally can (and have) bought my books from a used bookstore.
I used to come here all the time to read my gossip magazines (don’t judge me!) when I lived in Midtown, and I still do occasionally because it WAS quiet and peaceful. But they’ve been doing construction for the past couple of months so… I’ll only stop by to feed my need for salacious gossip if/​when I’m in the neighborhood.

Quality book store with a great selection. They also have a pretty decent selection of text books for those of you who are still doing the school thing. They also have a great selection of GT apparel you need some yellow jacket gear.
I usually go there for the Starbucks, but there are other coffee shops in the area. If you work in or around the 5^th Street area then take a stroll over and look around — it’s well worth it.

Did not find what I was looking for! I was pleasantly surprised to find an Apple Store in the same building. They have a very limited selection of books, mostly geared towards text books for the students.

I don’t understand how this bookstore doesn’t have a 3 or 2 star rating. I’ve been a student at GeorgiaTech for 3 years and over and over again I am amazed at how overpriced everything here is, especially the textbooks!
Besides that, this isn’t even a real barnes and nobles; their selection of books (besides the textbooks) is horrible. They almost have more (overpriced) GT gear to buy than books. It’s as if their whole purpose is to just rip off new and unwise GT students.
The only plus is the embedded Starbucks, which has a large seating area.
