BEWARE! The prices are like a 5 star restaurant but the food is 1 ½ star :(First let me start by saying I am from Chicago and the only authentic about this«Chicago Style» place is some of the memorabilia on the wall. 4 Bucks for a hot dog then another 2 for fries! That’s insane! Mayor Daley would be ashamed.

This is… was a good Chicago style restaurant while it was open. It closed late summer last year. I work near by so I was bummed to see this place go. The dogs and sausage were my favorites here so if your near their other location I recommend stopping in.

Rest In Peace Bobby G… They will be closing by the end of August. Thanks in part to the greedy and relentless parking Nazis who have begun the ruin of many in-town neighborhoods. The pizza was good the the character transcendent to Chicagoland. You will be missed.

I LOVE this place. The Italian Beef sandwiches(a culinary staple in Chicago) with Giardiniera peppers are killer.(I highly recommend mixing the mild and spicy peppers if you get giardiniera peppers. The hot are too hot and the mild are too mild but mixed… drooool) :) The onion rings are very good. The fries are solid. The chicago dogs are standard for a chicago style place like this which means very good. But the Italian Beef rules. They have baskets of fried items as well and I just tried a new item. Fried cheese balls. Its white cheddar cheese and the batter is very tasty and they are excellent as well(not exactly terribly high on the health list but the italian beef sandwich is actually not bad for you at all). As far as the pizza goes, I have not tried the deep dish chicago style. I have tried the regular thin once and, while other people seem to enjoy it, I though it was really really bad. Maybe a fluke? I dont know but, to dig deep and muster all my powers of descriptive prose, I would say it was«blech». :) Otherwise, the service is very friendly and the frozen chocolate bananas are very very shockingly good. I was with someone who had axed if had ever tried one. I said no and wasnt interested. She bought me one and it kicked ass. Way better than I expected it to be. I would definitely buy it again. A pretty healthy dessert too. The bar has a cool ambience. Lots of sports memorabilia and several TV’s. not a huge place and all around cool vibe with one exception. Last summer they put these gigantic freaking fans at the front of the store blowing back toward the kitchen. Guys, its no fun trying to talk and eat when it feels like your in the middle of a shoot for the movie Twister etc. Very loud, very annoying. Fix your damned HVAC issue in the kitchen if thats what the problem is. Dont make the customers suffer. No fans so far in 2011. :) I probably eat there 2 – 3 times a month and heartily recommend it. Try the Italian Beef!

I was here a little over 3 weeks ago with a coworker because we were both craving deep dish pizza, saw Bobby G’s on ScoutMob, and made an impulse decision. Unfortunately, the one thing they don’t have is deep dish pizza. The owner, I assume, saw our disappointment and urged us to try their thin-crust pizza. When we politely declined, he said he would bring us a sample for free anyway to try. After reading the entire menu 3 more times(cuz it’s hard to get over having your heart set on something and then having that dream crushed), we ended up ordering 1 slaw dog($ 3), 1 Chicago dog($ 3), a basket of sweet potato fries($ 6), a single burger with lettuce & tomato($ 5), and 2 drinks($ 4). That added up to $ 21ish before the ScountMob discount. * The slaw dog was tiny and really gross… coleslaw tasted like shredded cabbage dunked in sugary milk. * The Chicago dog was average(according to my coworker). * For $ 6, the sweet potato fries were tiny(imagine the size of small fries from McD’s). When we went up to the counter to ask if they had mixed it up with the small side order of fries rather than the basket that we ordered, they said«no» but ended up bringing us another tiny order’s worth anyway and acted like they did us a favor. The fries were also undercooked. * The burger was just below average. It was much smaller than expected and consisted of chewy flavorless meat. The Kaiser roll was also super chewy and I had to literally tear both the meat and bread away from my mouth with each bite. All in all, every item came out much smaller than expected and I was not impressed with any one thing we ordered… granted, we might just be terrible at ordering because neither of us are from Chicago. Even choice/portion/pricing problems aside though, the quality was just not there. I ate every bit of non-tasty food and still left hungry. I can’t imagine how much more upset I would be had I not saved 50% with ScountMob. Oh yes, the«free sample» of thin-crust pizza never came.

I’m originally from Chicago area so I will have a different perspective than a native Atlantian. Also, when I review a restaurant I compare it others of its kind I have experienced, local and otherwise. I have no idealized versions of the perfect restaurants floating in my head, I’m not that creative. Having said all that… I really love the Italian beef and Chicago dogs served here! They are the best I’ve had outside of Chicago! The food is meant to be eaten with your hands, they will become soiled, and you will learn to love it. Keep an open mind, OK? A real Italian Beef should be soggy and messy, I like mine topped with onions and giardiner peppers, half hot, half sweet. This place has all the corrrect ingredients and they how to serve them. I don’t know if it is real Gonella bread, but it is a great knock-off so I don’t care. The Chicago dog is perfect. Even the neon-green relish is exactly right! Do do not alter it in the least. Eat it just as it comes and you will be instantaneously transported to Ch– town,(you don’t even have to close your eyes.) NEVERPUTKETCHUPONIT, or if you must, don’t let anyone SEE you do it for God’s sake. I have eaten here several times with my children and my Ex-Chicagoan mother, we all feel we are at home here. We all agree we love the Italian beef and Chicago dogs they are the only things I have tried except for the pizza. We tried the pizza once and it was just awful, I could not even eat it. It is definitely NOT representative of the average Chicago Style Pizza. I would like to say that the Windy city is not know for its subs or cheese steaks, so they most likely won’t be that great here…

My boyfriend is from Chicago, he loves it, and we’ve eaten here over a dozen times. The Italian beef is awesome. It’s not messy, its perfect. Get it dipped and with hot giardiniera for a classic Chicago sandwich. The bread holds up really well even after being dipped in that meaty au jus goodness. The Chicago dog is spot on an exact replica. Same ingredient companies and all, even down to the emerald green relish. P. S. they’ll validate 2 hours parking for the parking garage

discovered this place last weekend glad I went back today. I had a italian sausage sand witch with grilled onions and mozzarella cheese and a order of onion rings. the food was very good. I also saw other things on the menu I want to try. plan on visiting here again. the price was a little expensive but was still good.

My friend and I missed our connecting bus, so we wondered around Lindbergh for a bit. Great service, great food, very friendly people. I ordered the Chicago Hot Dog and some onion rings. Delicious. They didn’t prepare my order until I ordered it. As in, the onion rings wern’t just sitting there before I ordered. Overall, good for a quick bite!

We had a few hot dogs and pizza– overall I would say terrible. The pizza was tasteless! We had half cheese and half Chicago– the one side was covered with peppers and the cheese was tasteless. The chicago dogs were actually good and if we just had hot dogs this would have been a good meal. The restaurant has a solid atmosphere but half way through our meal they turned the music and the tvs all on loud and communication required shouting. Overall I would only recommend the Chicago dog and take it to go…

I’ve had the Italian beef and the cheese steak and they were meh… Very, very messy. In fact the cheese steak seems more like a sloopy joe. Great place to watch sports. People were going nuts in there the other day watching a game. I saw two dudes crying and hugging each other after a touchdown. Got to love the fall…

I’m gonna go ahead and say it… I’m a big fan of Bobby G’s. Don’t come here expecting 3″ thick Chicago deep dish pizza like you’ll find at an Uno pizzeria, but if you’re looking for authentic Chicago style hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches this is the place to go. While I was in college I did an internship in downtown Chicago and fell in love with the fully loaded hot dogs available in the Windy City. It’s a Vienna Beef hot dog loaded with toppings and condiments you’re not likely to see anywhere else. If you go to Bobby G’s do yourself a favor and check it out. Another menu stand out for me is the Italian beef sandwich, a Chicago classic I was introduced to on an episode of Man V. Food on the Travel Channel. The guys at Bobby G’s will serve you a sandwich as good as the one Adam Richman had. Order it with melted mozzarella, mild giardeniera peppers and extra beef juice. I’m pretty sure that’s the official term for the sauce. Just a heads up for everyone, the Unilocal mapping for this location is wrong. It’s downtown at the Lindbergh City Center right next to the intersection of Lindbergh and Piedmont.

Not bad! It’s great to finally get a real Italian beef in the ATL. I asked for it wet, with sweet and giard– and the guy actually knew exactly what I meant– very refreshing! The beef was tasty too– andI did like the roll, although i bet it wasn’t Gonnella. It was pricey though, beef, fries and a drink for $ 11.(Plus the sweet little ticket I got for the expired meter out front– just like Chicago!) I look forward to trying the dogs and pizza– love that they cut it in squares– as if there was any other way! We’ll be back.

Went here again with some friends to watch the Blackhawks game and was so disappointed. They didn’t have the local satellite feed so they weren’t able to turn on the game until the 1st period was basically over. I also asked if they could put the Cubs game on as well, and again, no local feed. They didn’t put on the sound until we were there for about 30 minutes so we pretty much sat in silence. In fairness to them, they are an «eatery,» not a sports bar. But they do market themselves as a place to watch Chicago sports and they serve beer. I mean, can they not afford to pony up for the MLB or NHL package? And they close at 10pm? Even though most evening games go past 11. So yeah, they had to ask us to leave right before the 2nd period ended. One more thing, don’t even bother trying the«authentic Chicago style pizza.» It’s anything but authentic. Not deep dish. Just a regular thick crust. This place has so much potential, but wow, what a huge let down. The only good thing was the sausage/beef combo I ate. Probably won’t go back. Great place to stop in and eat, but if you want to watch a game, you’re better off going across the street to Tacomac.

Just like the original Bobby G’s in Alpharetta, this place rocks. Authentic hot dogs & beefs just like you’d get from your corner shop in Chicago(Clark Dog, at the corner of Clark & Diversey was mine). I’m so glad I do not have to drive to the Alpharetta location, since I no longer work in that area. I’ve never had the pizza at Bobby G’s but since I don’t care for Chicago-style pizza, and that I haven’t heard great things about the pizza at the other Bobby G’s location, I probably won’t be trying it here. But that’s ok, because the hot dogs, beefs and other sandwiches are what you should be getting here. But having been to the Alpharetta shop dozens of times, I noticed the new location at Lindburgh has almost exactly the same pictures and other memorabilia hanging on the walls. That doesn’t change my rating, but does get a little of a laugh from me, as its obvious some of the pictures were printed on a consumer-grade inkjet printer from images grabbed online and expanded to 8×10 or whatever size. The staff is great and the prices are reasonable for being intown(the prices are pretty much same as in Alpharetta, but somehow there I feel its a bit much given the out-of-the-way location)

I’ve been here several times and had most of the things on the menu. The meat on their sandwiches is really good, especially the Italian beef. That said, they may very well have the worst bread for their hoagies that I have ever had. If you can get past the bread, the food is good.

Bobby G’s has an original location in Alpharetta, and they opened a couple months ago in Lindbergh City Center. It’s decorated quite well with all sorts of Chicago related goods, like the door greeting you to Chicago, although I think there should be some opposition to the sign for Cheli’s Chili with him in a white and red uniform… Anyway, the food is of course all what you’d want to eat in Chicago: Italian beef, Italian sausage, Italian beef and Italian sausage in one sandwich, pizza, hot dogs, frozen bananas. There are plenty of toppings to choose from to add to your sandwich. I am pretty much addicted to their Italian beef sandwiches with hot giardinera. They don’t skimp on the giardinera, and my mouth is usually burning when I finish the sandwich. While maybe it isn’t entirely authentic because I’m not in Chicago anymore, it’s damn close. Everyone who works there is super friendly. Once I had a conversation with a girl entirely about my silver nail polish, which I really never thought would happen, but that’s completely cool with me. They serve beer and wine, and I think they have different sandwich specials every day.

Let me say first that I intend to come back and try more that they offer. However, I got the thick crust pizza and I was a little disappointed. It was expensive and not very good. I had a few of my friend’s fries though and I give those a thumbs up. Also, the staff is nice and helpful and the place is decorated very homey.

I have never been to Chi-town but this makes me not wanna go. Just kiddin. LOL. But seriously the Chicago styled hotdog was sweet. And the burgers and everyone around me agreed… would be good if the bread wasn’t sooooo darn chewy. I do want to try a regular dog and maybe then my opinion will change of this place… so far… so not good.

Finally! A little taste of Home! Couldn’t wait to come here. The place did remind of Chicago, the décor was authentic to a Chicago style Hot Dog House(think Portillo’s) It felt familiar! I ordered a little bit of everything couldn’t control myself! Chicago style Dog all dressed. Italian Beef, Hot, double dipped. Italian Sausage, Hot Sweet. Crinkle Cut Fries! Everything was spot on with the exception of two items. Sweet Peppers were over cooked and The Giardinare was too mushy. I love this place and will be back! Thank you Bobby G’s for bringing a little taste of Chicago to the ATL! Nothing better than Vienna Beef Hot Dog!
