What a workout! I really enjoy the cardio blasts here and everyone whether a trainer or a person being trained, always has a positive attitude. The energy in the gym makes all the difference!

ody Design Personal Training has changed my life in only a matter of weeks! Before I signed up for training, I hadn’t stepped inside of a gym in over 6 months, nor had I touched a weight in two years. To say I was out of shape is an understatement. I had become the skinny-​fat 31– year-​old who had zero energy and lacked any urge to put on workout clothes except for when running errands. I felt gross and unattractive. I knew that if I really wanted to change and see/​feel real results that I needed to find a gym that would hold my attention: a gym where the workouts were always different and a gym where I would be held accountable for attending. Body Design Personal Training was my answer. I knew that when I joined I was making a commitment not only to the gym but also to my sleep (morning sessions 3 times a week) and my lifestyle (bye-​bye happy hour and wine night). It was a hard but an easy adjustment.
Before I went to my first training session I was super nervous because I thought the other members or trainers would judge me for being so weak and out of shape. Boy, was I wrong. Everyone is there to help push one another to get through the workouts and to help you leave with a sense of accomplishment and a huge smile! You really learn to push yourself in each session; mind over matter. Their trainers are amazing and because of them I was able to lose 2% body fat and 2.2 lbs. of fat in my first month! I also gained 4 lbs. of muscle and an inch in my biceps! It’s pretty exciting to see what your body is capable of when you work hard and don’t give up. 1 month down and I’m already hooked and my gym clothes aren’t just for errands anymore! I respond well to training when there’s accountability involved, so Body Design offers me a great framework for success.
Accountability comes in the form of monthly fitness profiles to check body metrics: weight, body fat %, muscle measurements, flexibility, resting heart rate, number of pushups you can do in one pop, etc. It’s small group training (maximum 5 people per session), so I’ve gotten to know my cohort really well. We spur each other on with verbal encouragement and a healthy spirit of competition. And of course there are the trainers.
I really look forward to my three weekly sessions. Warren, Brandon and Laura are passionate, engaging, and have great senses of humor. (You can look forward to Warren’s Arnold Schwarzenegger impression, for example, and Laura is great with warmup stretches and sports injuries thanks to her knowledge of physical therapy.) They keep us motivated with challenging workout routines that they think up fresh each week. Cardio is emphasized in addition to strength training, so you get a full fitness approach that helps your body burn calories even on off days.
Since I joined the team in July, I’ve built up my strength, endurance and sense of well-​being. It’s a bit of an adjustment at first getting used to the physical demands, but I have so much more energy now as a result. Health and fitness take continual effort, and I embrace the challenge knowing that I’ve got a capable, dedicated, and caring group of people helping me along the way.

The Body Design Personal Training program has been a total «game changer» for me! I have consistently worked out my whole life, but now I understand that I was simply going through the motions and not pushing myself into Beast Mode. The Body Design program has taught me so much about the art of my body, the advantages of a discipline lifestyle and the value of nutrition. I have been working out at Body Design since August ! I was skinny (all bones) and unhealthy. I started to work out 3 days a week at body design and am never looking back. I have gained 10lbs of muscle and feel and look absolutely amazing. I feel like I am a lot more observant when it comes to my food intake and my trainers have become some of my closest friends! They make sure I am happy and healthy and sticking to my diet and workouts!

Loved working out here tonight! I arrived early for my workout and was able to utilize the member lounge to get a lot of work done.

Body Design is a great place to workout! I have never been pushed harder or motivated more. I believe that I have finally found what I think will work, long-​term, in achieving my fitness goals. After 6 weeks I feel my endurance is up and I look forward to each session. Ryan is a great trainer as is Jeff. This is a life changing experience for me and I look forward to the months to come! The motivation carries into my life and I am making small changes one at a time. Many nights I leave feeling utterly exhausted. But I LOVE it. Admittedly I am in terrible shape and overweight, but with that being said I have never been uncomfortable at Body Design or made to feel like Im lesser of a person because of it. Nothing but motivation and praise. If you have any doubts about this place, don’t. Give it a try. This is the real deal;)

Best gym experience ever! I’m going in to my third month training with Body Design and I can say that I truly can’t wait to continue. They track my individual measurements and activity results each month, so I am able to see all of the progress that I’ve made, which gives me so much more motivation to work to reach the goals that we’ve made for my progress! My body fat percentage has dropped 5.5%, I gained 5.6 pounds of lean body mass and my fat mass has dropped 5 pounds within my first month. I feel great, and my endurance has definitely increased! I look forward to going in for my sessions each week. The trainers are AWESOME, always so energetic and motivating! They know your name, your goals and tailer each workout to your individual needs. As a woman, it’s hard to find trainers that you feel totally comfortable with and I can truly say Body Design is a big family, I have found where I belong. They are so professional, energetic and knowledgeable about new trends in the industry, and even down to the smallest details, such as what protein will work best for you! They truly care about each member at their gym and it shows. You don’t feel like a number, you feel a part of the team. We run 5k’s together and even formed a softball league! Working out with Corey Ritter was by far the best personal training experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of different trainers. He switched up the protocol every workout, gave me a meal plan (it even had a fast food option), and a meal diary. His positive attitude and the protocol he designed specifically for my needs and goals kept me motivated. He keeps the workouts challenging without pushing you too far. He’s got it down to a science! I had a complete body transformation in a month and stayed with him for a year but then had to move out of state. Still, by then I had learned enough from him to stay fit on my own. I highly recommend his company.

Body Design has some of the most skilled trainers I have ever come in contact with. They are constantly finding new ways to challenge and push me but never to the point of injuring myself. They go through intense training and are extremely knowledgeable, I fully trust them and really enjoy the atmosphere they create. This truly is PERSONAL TRAINING from people that know how to transform your body!

So I trained with Body Design Personal Training for about 8 months and left because I moved to a different state. When I first started training there, I could barely do 8 pushups without collapsing. Within a few months, I lost weight, gained muscle, and successfully completed the Merrell Down and Dirty 10K and Obstacle Course. I was in the best shape of my life! These guys really know what they’re doing. And they give you results.
So here are a few things you can expect from Body Design Personal Training:
1) High fives. Lots of them.
2) A small group setting, which allows the trainers to adjust weights and exercises according to your fitness level.
3) Help with a meal plan, even for vegetarians (which was awesome for me!)
4) Trainers who encourage and push you, and in my case, make sure you don’t drop the weights on your toes. :-)
5) A well-​rounded workout that incorporates strength training, cardio and core work
6) Accountability in the form of monthly fitness tests
7) An easy, flexible scheduling system
As someone who used to be intimidated about going to the gym, the team at Body Design as truly helped me overcome fears and meet my fitness goals. They helped me make fundamental lifestyle changes. I would definitely recommend Body Design to anyone who is looking to get in shape and work with enthusiastic, knowledgeable trainers.

I started training at Body Design Midtown almost one year ago and I can honestly say it has changed my life. I was always very imitated by the large chain gyms on every corner and because of that never took my fitness seriously.

I have been going here for a few years now b/​c I still see results. I was in a place where my gym routine was so boring and I felt like I was working out and not seeing results and my body was just not getting better. I started the program unsure of how «less time» working out would actually work but quickly realized from my measurements and profile (which they make you do monthly) that smarter not harder was truly the way to go. I am now able to fit this quick hour in 3 times a week and am more lean and have more muscle mass than ever before and able to maintain it bc of the meal plan they customize for me to follow. I love training with the other people here on all levels of fitness bc some push me and some remind me of where i was and i push them –its a great place for both my body and my mind to find motivation. highly recommend!!!

My journey with Body Design started last May, but I have been trying to get in better shape for years. The catalyst for me joining was talking with owner and him spending over an hour answering all my questions. He went into great detail of not only what the club could do for me, but also what would be expected of me. When I started I was going twice a week, but once I started seeing results I switched to 3 times a week.
The style of training is simple and effective. Upper body is worked 1 or 2 days a week depending on your plan and lower body is worked the end of your week. Every workout includes some time for abs and cardio. Nutritional advice is also provided.
I look forward to going every week! I have a great group of trainers that always ask how they can help me reach my goals and continue to push me toward them!

Be very careful. What they tell you you can do and what you can do are two different things.
I signed up for one thing and got something quite different. When I asked for it to be corrected I was referred to my contract. They could have kept me as a client but chose to keep the money they already have. I am now having a lawyer write a letter and will go to small claims court. Not the kind of experience you want to have with a retail organization.

I must say that I disagree in most aspects with the other reviewer. I’ve been going to Body Design for over a year, and I have been nothing but satisfied. Sure, their facilities are small and their equipment is not the standard that you’d find at a big, multi-​location, mega-​Gym, but that is not their program and they tell you that when you go into your free consultation. Their program is one of a cross-​training aspect, and no workout is ever the same (they even guarantee it or the session is free). As to the «owner» issue, I have never had a problem with Corey. Corey is not one of the main trainers, as he typically runs the corporate side of the company, but I’ve been trained a few times by him as he sometimes fills in as a substitute, and I have been just as satisfied. He also comes in to the club a lot while training, and is always very encouraging. He still knows all of the clients names (if he’s met them) and as corporate as he might be that’s a good thing.
I will agree that the trainer turnover has been higher than I’d like to see, but for the most part, I understand the reasoning given as to their departures, although, and it’s the main reason I’m deducting a star, is that I don’t like how the handled the change in trainers with their clients, but that’s not a deal breaker and I am and always have been satisfied with the replacements. I just hope that with the changes that are currently being made there will finally be some stability in it.
As for the meal plans, I also disagree with Mike P., as the meal plan is generated after your fitness profile is done and put into the computer. It analyzes all the data, and customizes amounts, protein levels, etc. for your goals and your current fitness level. I think personal training set-​ups like Body Design are an important, and vital way for those that find it hard to get motivated to train, and for those who like the structure, Body Design is great.
As for not changing the workout for your fitness goals, nothing could be farther from the truth, as I am constantly asked if my goals have changed. They have modified weights, exercises, etc. so that I can meet my goals more easily. Body Design has a bunch of loyal fans, and I happen to be one of them.
Pros: The trainers are great, a good variety in workouts, BodyDesign College for their Trainers, cool Monthly events for charity such as 5k’s and Sky Diving, workout partners, no long term contracts, responsive staff, and an expansion of clubs with a new one in Vinings, and others opening up soon around Atlanta, CardioBlast free classes at Piedmont Park, weekend classes at only 10 dollars for members in things like Abs, Yoga, Gluteus «to the max», etc., and GREAT prices.
Cons: lack of phone communication abilities to the actual club; trainer turnover, time slots fill up quickly

The facilities are in a rather small location in a strip mall. It seems rather safe, clean, well lit and hygenically sound.
Body Design is ideal for those who are out of shape and need to build up a basic level of work out consistency and stabilization. The equipment is not very great nor is the selection. This consists of 1 treamill, 1 eliptical and 1 stationary bike in addition to kettle bells, medicine balls, jump ropes, resistance bands and those rinky dink customizable dumbells that stop at 95lbs. They have other little things such as punching bags but in my 3 months there, they were never worked into my workout. So it goes.
They also offer free cardio blast sessions to members at Piedmont Park at 6am and 6pm M-​F and then Saturday mornings at 10am.
As I just mentioned, I’ve been there for 3 months and in that time have had 5 trainers. Not due to cycling or the need to share innovative workouts or ideas, but the fact that the personal trainers in this location run like a turnstyle. The reason for this is up for debate. Having heard straight from the horses mouths of why these personal trainers left, they will tell you the owner of the business is one of the most megalomaniacal people they’ve worked for. I’ve met this gentleman on three occasions. On the first, I introduced myself to him, spoke highly of my enthusiasm for joining his gym and he could care less for me. The second, after one month there, I commented to him that after my first 30 days I am seeing gains and general improvement in addition to asking him specific questions pertaining to the meal plans they provide and other related questions, could care less by responding with just follow what’s on the meal plan and dismissed my compliments towards his facility. The final time, he was there and approached my friend who goes to work out with me and told him verbatim, «hey bro i busted up your girlfriend this morning, busted her up real good», then laughed about it. He then went on to say how he isolated her out during morning Cardio Blasts and pushed her to physical extremes which caused her to be sick. This concluded my friend and his girlfriend’s membership. Back to the trainers; the trainers that prospected me in were gone by the time I joined mainly because they were tasked with the chore of telemarketing their services as well, overworked and treated poorly. The trainers, who you really have to sympathisize for work 6 days a week, nearly if not 12 hours a day and really don’t get paid as you’d think. From a very limited perspective, it’s similar to a Ponzi scheme. I would have left after month one had I not felt sympathy towards the trainers. The owner however has his own version of the story of why previous trainers have left and again, it’s subject to debate as to how much of each version is true.
The workouts are completely different from what I am accustomed to coming from an actual gym. I would best describe it as «weighted resistance cardio training». After a while the workouts become stale and repetitive. I’ve on numerous occasions spoke to both trainers currently there and expressed my 3 desired goals and 4 target areas I’d like to see the most improvment in on me; nothing changed. There is a feeling that there is no «personal» in your personal training as the current class I’m in consists of 3 other people of very different ages, body types and levels of strength and we are all given the same weights, workouts and reps. I was put in this class by one of the trainers as she felt I was being matched up with other members that have the same focuses in mind, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. I no longer break sweats, become winded, no longer feel challenged and have become bored with the routine. Again, not great for me but absolutely great for someone who is several months removed from working out or first timers.
Body Design also provides meal plans for their clients. At first I was excited by the notion of having something personalized that I could follow and commit to in terms of dieting… until I found out they generally give the male clients identical meal plans… that weren’t customized to me and weren’t administered by the trainers I saw. So who put these together and how do they know what’s best for me? What if I have a peanut allergy?
Having a friend who’s currently studying to become a certified personal trainer, I showed her the meal plan that was «customized» for me and she told me to stop following it. It’s built like a choose your own adventure with no sound structure and an overabundance of protein. I won’t drill deeper in detail but to put it simply, it’s not that good of a meal plan.
There is no annual contract, it’s monthly billing.
Overall, Body Design is an adequate starter gym until you find something better.
