THISIS A CLOSINGREVIEWFORDANNEMAN’S WHICHISNOLONGERTHERE. Please see SDSUPERMARKET for updates and new reviews. It’s my local market. Gotta show it love and support! Long story short, the family who owned Danneman’s Eddie Super Market were planning on returning to Korea. In doing so they apparently never had the intention on leaving the US or the people investing in this location after them with a location that would be usable or debt free without months of hard work and a lot of money. The family basically left without telling anyone to my or neighbors and local know-it-alls. The building itself was left utterly disgusting, electronics both hardwire, coolers, etc. became either trash or was only usable for a short time. Needless to say there were a myriad of issues and the new owners have invested a lot of sweat equity and money to make it right. Search SD Supermarket and go review them there.

As a kid… this was my neighborhood grocer… and while the years have been kind to the owners of this establishment.(probably retired and sold the place for a pretty penny)…it just still isnt a Publix… but thats what makes this establishment so great. Some time ago, I went in and was surpised that it didnt have that«what is that smell» kinda smell about it. After visiting a friend on Third Avenue, she asked me to take her to the store… seeing as how I havent lived in this neighborhood in over 20 years… I headed down E. College to go thru Decatur to the Kroger on N. Decatur Rd, just so my friend can say… gurl…take me to Dannemans. I was like… they are still open… she said hell yeah… where they going? Haha Entering was like being 15 again, and first thing I headed for were the now and later candies, which I know I havent eaten in over 20 years either. LAWD they still sell white dirt… my mother would kill me if she knew I went here and didnt buy her some… as I use to have to make the trek here when I was younger for her dirt! Cheaper prices than the big boxes… and you can buy meat here too… now if only I didnt live 40 minutes away, I could relive my teenage years all over again! Accepts Debit cards, EBT cards and CASH… no checks allowed. I just bet they arent!
