Double Zero Napoletana is an upscale, contemporary Italian restaurant located in Atlanta. The chefs take traditional ingredients then add a modern, southern twist to create a delightful dining experience; this is probably one of my favorite Italian restsaurants to visit for dinner where I feel like I’m not breaking my wallet. I heard they recently sold the Rowell building over, but the word is they’ll be replacing the former Ink & Elm space in Emory Village — so, fear not! While their menu shifts from time to time, there are two dishes that remain memorable for me: 1. I’m normally not a big fan of pizza — I enjoy trying different white pizzas, but I never find myself with a pie craving. The Double Zero Pizza is probably one of the best pizzas I’ve tried at a restaurant. It’s interesting because the ingredients are relatively simple — arugula, grana padano, garlic, oil, fresh prosciutto — but create the most delicate balance of flavors, without the use of a red/white sauce. Each bite is flavorful and fresh, with the pizza itself being more than sufficient as a meal, and ends up costing you about $ 15. 2. It’s been a while since I last had this dish(maybe one or two years ago), so the specific dish is fuzzy, but Double Zero once served a grilled, marinated steak(I don’t remember if it was a hanger steak or another cut); the meat itself was very tender and intensely flavorful, then was served on a bed of garlic-infused broccoli rabe. Seriously, SO good. The flavors aren’t out-of-this-world unique, but you take one bite and it’s evident that the chefs know how to properly season and prepare a steak. I also appreciated that they refuse to cook the dish above a medium or medium rare(YES) in order to keep the beef tender. Overall, always a pleasurable dining experience. Friendly servers and great food. Sad to see the location in Sandy Springs closing, but I hear that the closing date is indefinite as of now and will still be running until May or so – I definitely plan on stopping by before then. I’ll be anticipating their new opening in Decatur!

Three of my ladies and I stopped in after going to Bridals by Lori for bridesmaid dresses. Very interesting dining décor and lighting. I’d love to bring my husband back here for a dinner in the future. We all split the meat lovers version of the pizza. Good wine selection as well.

The service here is great! The ambiance is nice and the drinks are pretty good, too. The reason I only gave 3 stars, is because the good(although delicious) is DINKY. My fiancé and I celebrated our third anniversary here. We ordered 2 antipasto and one pizza to share. Our appetizers were the salumi($ 16) and the cheese($ 15). Maybe I am not enough of a cheese aficionado to order a $ 15 cheese plate, but I was a bit unpleasantly surprised when it arrived to the table with 7SLIVERS of cheese! 3 slices of a cheddar, 2 hunks of goat cheese and 2 pieces of blue cheese. Call me a cheapo, but I would typically expect a $ 15 cheese plate to deliver a bit more than that. Our cheese and meats were served with 4 small(albeit delicious) crostinis. No complaints about the salumi — that was a decent value. We also ordered the margherita pizza($ 13). Delicious, but again, dinky. We were by no means expecting a Midwest loaded pizza, but this one was a bit… Flat. Lots of sauce, not much cheese, some basil. The knew it was our anniversary, so our very sweet waiter brought us each a glass of prosecco. Like I said, the service was excellent. The portions, however, were not so awesome.

I have eaten here maybe about 6 times and the food and service is consistently good. I’ve been with both giant parties and smaller groups. We all were handled with care and attention to detail.(Also they serve the pizza with scissors which feels dangerous and awesome at the same time). The wine and beer selections were vast and the desserts were killer. Ordering several small plates definitely adds up to an expensive evening but it has always exceeded my expectations.

Nice ambience. A bit on the«jazzy» side as far as attire. Great service. A very sharp looking host was very attentive. Checked on us a couple times. I appreciate that. We had the Pork belly risotto, the Affettati and the Margherita which we added the spicy soppressata to it. All of it was great! Would definitely go back.

Came here on a Saturday and it was packed and we had no reservations so we sat by the bar. It was pretty cool watching them make the pizza right in front of you. Loved the thinness of their crust, almost paper thin and you cut it with scissors which I thought was cool. But the pizzas had too much side crust that there wasn’t enough space for sauce and toppings. Hence, the flavor of the actual pizzas we ordered were not as good as expected. I am willing to give it another try for sure. Perhaps when it’s not so busy.

I wanted to give Double Zero 4-stars but my recent experience just didn’t justify the extra mark. I was with a party of 14 on a Saturday night at 7:30p. What I ordered: Brussels salad(they ran out of Brussel sprouts so I can’t rate this) but I did try the arugula salad — 3⁄5 Double Zero Pizza — 4⁄5 Very tasty. Don’t expect something heavy and don’t express a red sauce. Whatever they’re using for olive oil is very delicious. Blondie brownies w/gelato — 5⁄5 Wow these are amazing. Served warm and chewy. Sharing portions. Beignets — 5⁄5 very very good. Beautifully displayed with various accoutrements. Sharing portions. I want to give DZ the credit of what appeared to be attention to detail on a Saturday night; however, the execution fell a bit short on the service side. I’m not sure what happened, but after ordering drinks and food, our server changed. So, no one knew what we ordered when our food eventually arrived. Plates were being sent to the wrong tables and it was a bit of a mess. I saw someone who appeared to be a manager trying to regulate the floor, but something was off. After 15 minutes our salads arrived. 25 minutes later our main courses arrived. That was too long of a wait for me. They have great bread by the way, but you have to ask for it. And 6 pieces at a time. My table started joking, calling them bread rations. The restaurant started to get empty, we were the last crowd and decided to end off the night on a sweet note. Dessert was ordered and it arrived quite promptly however our coffees were forgotten until we asked again 10 minutes later. Maybe things were just off that Saturday. I’ll be giving DZ another shot this week.

I had the bolognese for dinner and the beignets for dessert. Compared to other Italian restaurants in Atlanta, Double Zero is very average. The bolognese was not good. It was a stack of noodles with some crispy sauce on top. The beignets had a strange taste. My mother-in-law had a margerite pizza which was ok. Could have used more sauce and the crust was very average(doesn’t compare to Varasano’s on Peachtree). On a positive note, the service was above average.

Quaint spot excellent for date night or with a group of close friends. The risotto balls were excellent. We chose the Maila pizza– it has fig and arugula. My sweetie and I shared the pizza and appetizer and were not overly full– just right. Tasty! I enjoyed my meal.

When you’re down in the Atlanta area for a conference and you’re tired of ordering Chinese or some other terrible delivery option(namely garbage pizza), you’ll find yourself wanting something more. Perhaps it’s a nice night out or just an opportunity to introduce a slew of your co-workers and friends to a kick ass local business. Enter: Double Zero. Of course, we had enjoyed a busy of day of conference-y things and were all famished and ready for a cocktail and a delightful meal. I had called a few hours ahead of time for a reservation of 13. Not your typical number for a res and can sometimes be difficult to seat together on a busy night. They were rather happy to oblige our unlucky number and awaited our arrival. Well, of course, we were stuck in the sh*t of perimeter traffic. Ready to offer sacrifices for a reprieve. I called again to let them know we would be a little late and they were totally calm about it. We arrived about 5 minutes past our reservation time and the hosts and servers were super gracious with our entire group. The owner, whom I’m familiar with from our past ventures to The Iberian Pig, was just as nice of her counterpart sibling. These two definitely know some hospitality and kindness on the service side of the business. The cocktails were spectacular, as was the beer selection — A few different cocktails with gin(smoooooth operator) and a Hop Hunter or two from Sierra Nevada. Everyone else at our long table seemed rather happy with their choice of beverage as well. Lots of wines, good beers, old fashioneds, etc. Happy campers. The food? Spectacular. A few of us ordered the arugula salad, which was divine, and there were several pizzas, burgers, pastas, and a few salmon dishes as well. I went with the Affettati. The soppressata was by far the best flavor on the pie. I love fior de latte and it melded everything together in harmony. The crust was magnificent and the attention to mixing really pays off in the end. Service was just wonderful. So nice, attentive to us and detail, and prompt. Bravo all around, ladies and gents. This is one hell of an operation.

Went for the first time tonight after a movie at Lefont. The service was very good. The pizza was just OK. I really didn’t think it was too special compared to other options in town. The other entrees though were just tremendous. I count myself as another huge fan of the pork belly risotto. Just terrific. The wine selection and beverages were stellar. It was a real nasty rainy night and the valet service was really excellent. Other minor points. The awning outside the restaurant wasn’t so hot when we waiting for the car. Extremely leaky in the rain. Getting into the parking lot can be an adventure if you are going south on Roswell Road. Lots of traffic and a big bump to get into the parking lot. All-in-all I very nice restaurant.

Although famous for their Double Zero Pizze, I actually loved their Pork Belly Risotto more! :D I enjoyed a glass of the Pietra Majella wine that was more fruit based(my kind of wine). The Double Zero Pizze has prosciutto di parma, arugula, grand padana, fior di latte, garlic and olive oil. Pork Belly Risotto has pork belly, jalapeño pesto risotto, root beer balsamic glaze, broccolini, and a slow poached egg. The kick from the jalapeño in the risotto was perfect! The kick balanced with the sweetness of the pork belly was absolutely delicious! As great as the entrees were, I was disappointed with the Gelato & Sorbetto House-made seasonal selection. All desserts are produced in-house by Pastry Chef Richard Murillo. I ordered the pistachio flavored and was sorely disappointed(I had another person try it and that person was not happy as well). You barely taste the pistachio and get an overwhelming creamy milk like flavor. The vanilla flavor was even worse. I’m not a fan of goat cheese and I’m sure there was goat cheese or something that tasted like goat cheese in the vanilla flavor. Desserts are supposed to be a pleasant end to a meal, this was certainly not the case. Sorry Chef Richard Murillo! Apparently I just don’t find your desserts as delectable as you think they are. I’m only giving 4 stars due to the delicious entrees ;) Please never get rid of the Pork Belly Risotto! It’s just so yummy! :D

Dined here during Georgia Restaurant Week… at least that is what the website and menus said, but when we arrived, all the staffers swore they only participated during the week. Someone really should have put that disclaimer on the Restaurant Week website. I wouldn’t have minded ordering from the regular menu all that much, only we were made to feel like we were totally crazy for even thinking the restaurant had a Restaurant Week menu… I had to show them the website and menu from my phone, with the dates listed, and the calendar to prove that the day fell within the Week’s promotion. In the end, we ended up ordering the items from the Restaurant Week menu anyway since we wanted to try the items(which is probably more expensive anyway, than if we ordered a la carte) and the manager gave in with the pricing. One of the other Unilocalers, Kristin B., mentioned that the menu was interesting enough but still safe… that was exactly why I chose the place for dinner for myself and a non-adventurous friend. Lamb meatballs with fresh mozzarella were pretty good, and I also liked the butternut squash fritters, though both appetizers were a bit heavy. Wasn’t that much a fan of the margherita pizza… it was a bit doughy and undercooked(not a hint of char or crispyness), and my pet peeve, the sauce was watery in the middle. They also served it with scissors instead of slicing it ahead of time… strange. The spinach tortolini had a sweet goat cheese filling, which wasn’t really jibbing with the accompanying veggies or sauce, though the spinach pasta shell was fresh and tasty. Tiramisu dessert was nice and light. Also not a fan of the suburban clientele– very whiny about waiting even a few minutes for valet parking. Service, after the initial hiccup with the menu, was good, and a couple suited managers stopped by numerous times to check if everything was ok.

Great place for good Italian food, friendly and fun service. Apps– Brussel sprout salad & burrata were awesome. Entrees– Pizza’s were tasty, I like mine with some crisp, but everything was delicious! I was lucky to be guided into having a pasta dish! Wowza was it fantastic. Lobster Pappardelle sans Lobster. Pearl onions, mushrooms, corn, peas, asparagus and white wine sauce! I 100% recommend that. Dessert needed to be light so I asked for an affogato made off menu, they delivered. Chocolate cake for the table was ordered too, layers of decadence. If you are in the area. Go!

Double Zero has been in my bookmark for a little over a year now and I have passed it so many times on Roswell Road. I finally had the pleasure to dine here with fellow friend and Unilocaler, Judy L. Double Zero Napoletana specializes in Italiano dishes and pizza. Very spacious restaurant with full bar. PARKING Limited self parking as you pull in on the left and right. If there are no spots, pull forward and valet! SERVICE We had Andrew and he was very knwoledgeable with the menu. He was also very attentive and hlepful in suggesting items. APPETIZER/ANTIPASTI –Pork Belly Risotto l Pork belly, jalapeño pesto risotto, root beer balsamic glaze, broccolini, slow poached egg(11) –Butternut Squash Frittelle l Caramelized onion aioli, watercress, lemon honey(8) The pork belly risotto was tender and the fat of the pork belly melts in your mouth. The root beer balsamic glaze adds a sweet taste to it, which is very interesting. Savory. The butternut squash was delicious. I was hesistant that it was fried, but it was yummy. The watercrest really complement the squash balls. SALAD/INSALATE –Arugula l Lemon, Grana Padano, toasted pine nuts, seasonal fruit, extra virgin olive oil(6) Refreshing! seasonal fruits really added alot of flavor. PASTA –Bolognese l Pork sausage, pancetta, pappardelle, herbs(half 9 /full 17) –Carbonara l Big Green Egg smoked lamb, tagliatelle, barricato el pepe cream, mushrooms, poached egg(19) The Bolognese is very tasty. The herbs help out alot especially balancing all the meat; pancetta and pork sausage. The Carbonara was very good as well. The smoked lamb tasted more like BBQ pull pork. It was tender and delicious with the pepe cream. DESSERT –Port Wine Gelato with Coke; special and it was okay. Refreshing, but wasn’t anything spectacular. –Strawberry Short Bread; also an okay dessert. Overall, great first experience. The manager even stopped by to see how we were doing.

They knocked it out of the ballpark on my very first visit! Seated at the bar, I felt as if I had the best spot in the house as Matt expertly crafted a variety of cocktails for me and the other barstool patrons glued to his descriptions of fine spirits, the art of combining flavor notes in drinks, and technique. He knows how to enhance the visit with relevant stories and attentive service that never missed a beat despite there being a full bar of guests. The Fennel Old Fashion was an aromatic opera to the olfactory and every sip tasted a good as the last. Both Matt and his colleague encouraged guests to go off the menu and let them concoct a drink in answer to what the guest liked. It was a respectfully casual and approachable dynamic that seemed to go over well with each of the diners. My appetizer of Pork Belly Risotto was a savory sensation that lived up the the other Unilocal!reviews I’d read in advance. Just writing about it now has started my mouth watering. The poached egg in the center and the broccolini just asked for me to cut and mix everything in the bowl for a medley of balanced flavors in every forkful. The Honey Gem Salad — which I almost did not order — was a pleasant palate cleanser of sorts. Fresh, light, and a healthful helping in between two hearty plates. I’ll order this again. My entrée was the Pancetta Wrapped Pork Tenderloin and I nearly squealed with delight at the first bite. I’m glad there weren’t any cameras on me because I am sure to have looked the fool scarfing down such fine cuisine. This has to be one of the best presentations and treatments of pork tenderloin I’ve ever enjoyed. You’ll try this and forget about the other white meat. For dessert, I was treated to a frozen ice cream and biscotti liqueur(and some other spirits were blended in there that I’ve forgotten by name, but not by taste). It was served in a flute and was a scrumptious way to conclude a superb meal. Whether you’re out to impress a date, your boss, or just celebrate by yourself, you cannot go wrong showing up here with an appetite and a smile. They’ll satisfy the former and make the latter bigger. Enjoy!

Made a super late reservation for Saturday night dinner because we are incredibly indecisive people. When we got there, they informed us that they were running a few minutes behind so we took a seat at the bar and ordered a cocktail each. I ordered an Aviation which has recently become my cocktail of choice but found that it had a bit too much lemon in it but overall I still enjoyed it. I had noticed that a couple who arrived after us had already been seated so I asked(forced) the boyfriend to ask the hostess how much longer it would be. We were sat very shortly after by the relatively unpleasant hostess, just something about her demeanor kind of put me off. However we were pleasantly surprised that because of the wait, they brought 2 glasses of Prosecco on the house which they completely did not have to do but I appreciated the kind gesture. The boyfriend ordered a a cheese and salumi plate while I had the Brussels sprouts salad. I loved how light yet delicious the salad was(no problems with overdressed salad here) and the nuts added a lovely flavor layer. I had the smoked lamb carbonara and the pasta was also perfectly al dente. My number one indicator for food though is how salty it is and Double Zero definitely passed the test. The lamb sauce was at a perfect balance of flavorful without being too salty. They also brought scissors to for the boyfriend to cut his pizza which was exciting for him. At the end, they also brought out a tiramisu compliments of the house. Not sure if they were still trying to make up for the hostess mix-up at the beginning but it was again, appreciated. Verdict — Their food is SUPER delicious but they have small logistical issues with their food runners BUT they are also quick to rectify anything that goes wrong. I also want to try L’arrosto…so yeah, I would probably eat here again.

Lamb meatballs and butternut squash frittelle were recommended by the waitress. Definitely our favorites and good portions for appetizers. I’m not a huge fan of lamb, but I’ll eat these meatballs any time. The lobster pasta was too buttery, affettati pizza was too salty, and the hangar steak was alright, but I give this place four stars because they served one of the most delicious pizzas I’ve ever had! They make the pizza with«double zero» flour(very fine) making the dough very soft, and the maiale pizza was the perfect blend of sweet and savory with its figs, goat cheese, and bacon. I had two slices leftover from the ten inch pie, and they were equally as good the next day. And to add to that, they give you scissors so you can cut your own slices! How fun! I didn’t know they had a separate area for desserts. I’d like to try it out next time. I just have to make sure I have enough singles for their valet parking.

I wanted to make sure I reviewed Double Zero since it’s my favorite go to restaurant especially since it’s so close to my house. This place is great, food is fantastic, service is attentive, atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the owners really care about the food they put out. Everything is good here. Pizza is delish, nice crust and fresh ingredients. Pasta and entrée dishes are equally delicious. My gf particularly loved the lobster pasta dish in a light cream sauce. I love the roasted pork dish served with different types of toppings(relish, chutney, pickled veggies) and a side of pizza bread. Order half portion to be shared with 1 – 2 people or full portion to share with the table. They just opened Cooks and Soldiers, a Spanish tapas restaurant. If the food and service is as good as double zero, I can’t wait to try it.

[TL;DR] So the place finally lives up to the reputation of the rest of the Castelluci Hospitality Group. Delicious. I’m glad to have finally made it back here. I owed it to this place to give it another shot though I almost feel as if I’m reviewing another spot since I went during lunch… and during lunch, it turns into The Café at 00(Double Zero). If your expectation is to walk in, get seated, and get the full-service treatment, you should drop them at the door. It’s walk-up, order and get served. Kind of odd… but it works. I was here with a group of guys… and since the majority of us weren’t worried about picking up the tab, we feasted like a table of kings. Here’s the stuff I tried: Pizzas: Sausage & Peppers, Margherita Sandwich: Prosciutto, Soppressata, & Fresh Mozzarella Soup: Tomato and Sausage Pizzas were for the table, and obviously, it would be difficult to disappoint when they use double zero flour and quality ingredients. Both pizzas were great. Charred to the right complexity for me. It’s not served cut… but you do get a pair of scissors. Interesting experience. Works. I really enjoyed my sandwich. The thick cut of mozzarella and generous portions of prosciutto and soppressata worked very well together with the sweet onion and basil. The ciabatta bread was buttery and crispy absorbing a lot of the saltiness. I know why it’s their second most popular sandwich now. Paired with the tomato and sausage soup, it was perfect. The service while friendly is still like new-place-jitters. There was a lot to be desired in the bizarre layout, figuring out how the café works — like getting seated, finding silverware, etc. For example, when you order a drink, there is no place to get your own ice even though the drink fountain is self-serve. Another oddity, when we had our food brought out, twice we had missing soup spoons. Don’t let it detract though. I really enjoyed it. If you find the place a bit expensive for dinner, try it during lunch. The prices are generally around $ 10. If you made it this far and was wondering… what is their most popular sandwich then? It’s the hangar steak sandwich. :o)
