Oh, Einstein Bros Bagels, why do you have to be the only food option(aside from vending machines) situated on the b-school’s campus? Let me lament the reasons you disappoint me: your food is overpriced for the quality and quantity($ 10 for a pre-made chicken salad? Seriously?!), your coffee does not hold a candle to Starbucks’ brew, the whole inside is very utilitarian looking and uninviting(especially considering the caliber of people frequenting you: over privileged college students, PhD professors, powerful people in the business world and b-school staff in desperate need of caffeine or other sustenance, AND last but not least, your staff’s not the friendliest and more than a tad crazy. All of this adds up to a less than stellar impression in my mind, but when I was in college and taking back to back classes with just 15 minutes in between periods, this was the only place close enough to my next class to grab a quick bite in between or risk passing out from hunger. So grab a bite I did. And often. I did it, but I didn’t have to like it, and I still don’t. Einstein’s gets points for convenience and nothing else. I’m glad I’ve moved beyond it(and its necessity) now.

This is not a legitimate Einstein Bros location. They do not have any specialty bagels, all of their sandwiches are ridiculously expensive compared to regular branches, and the service is extremely slow. I ordered a bagel with shmear at 2PM today. I got it at 2:20PM. Oh I“m sorry, I didn’t know it takes 20 minutes to put a bagel through the toasting machine and put some shmear on it. I know it wasn’t because they were busy, because my bagel was cold when I got it. They just left my bagel there for 10 minutes while making other bagel sandwiches.

As far as Einstein’s goes this location is not up to par. Latte machine? Broken. As if that weren’t enough, I just ordered PB&J on a bagel. I waited five minutes only for them to hand me the bagel I wanted with the PB&J ONTHESIDE. Did I mention there were about only six people in the restaurant, half of which already had their food? If I wanted to apply my own schmears, I would have made this at home and would not have gone to a BAGEL shop. Also, steer clear of the Lox and Bagel. There is barely any lox or cream cheese– definitely not worth the $ 7 you paid for it.

I love the Vanilla Hazelnut coffee. I always get excited for fall because they have pumpkin bagels & pumpkin cream cheese. Omg– it’s amazing. So yeah, even though there’s no parking, it’s your typical bagel & coffee shop & i go almost everyday. They also take Dooley Dollars which is a huge plus.

Word to the wise: if you’re thinking of visiting the Einstein Bros. Bagels location in the Emory Goizueta Business School building via car, DON’T; there is no parking. This is strictly a location to come upon au pied. This Einstein Bros. is an especially convenient coffee /soda /bagel /snack stop for folks who spend time at the law school, business school, or Woodruff Library. There is plenty of seating – at least twenty four-person tables that are deep enough for the individuals sitting at both sides of the tables to do some serious book-sprawling, as well as tables outdoor in the B-school courtyard – and the people who staff this location are extremely friendly, especially the general manager, who has never failed to greet me with less than 110% enthusiasm, which I love. Sometimes the line to order can be long, although I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes, even at its busiest(in the morning and in between classes), and if one is ordering a toasted bagel or sandwich, sometimes it can take another few minutes for the food to be ready. The coffee is self-serve(as is the soda fountain), which makes it even more of a desirable study location, as one can get refills(which one can’t at Jazzman’s in Woodruff Library). The real food(sandwiches, salads, yogurt parfaits, bagel-wrapped hotdogs) is a bit on the pricey side(~$ 6 for a sandwich or salad), but one has that problem eating on campus anywhere but the hospital cafeteria. But the baked goods are larger and on the whole more yummy than the ones sold in Jazzman’s, so I don’t mind forking over $ 2.29 for, say, a gigantor white chocolate chip raspberry muffin. Unfortunately this location is only open on weekdays(Monday through Thursday, 7:45 am to 7 pm; Friday, 7:45 am to 3 pm).
