This is my go-to package store in my ‘hood. I think their beer selection is pretty good; I’ve always been able to find something to fit my mood. I don’t normally check out the liquor side but on the rare occasion I have, I’ve always been able to find what I want. There are also a few selections behind the counter so check there if you can’t find what you’re looking for. The staff is fast and friendly. I never wait in line for too long. I even stopped in on NYE and found everything to be moving efficiently. Unfortunately, I of course got stuck behind the guy who didn’t know what the hell he wanted from behind the counter but the other lines were moving quickly enough that I was able to slide over and pay while he was still over there trying to decide. If you’re looking for a no-nonsense liquor store with a good selection, this is your stop.

A surprisingly good liquor shop! I’m always fascinated because they appeal to the rock gut crowd(think Taaka and Keystone) and the liquor snobs. I recently grabbed some great offerings by Creature Comforts and Green Flash while being harassed by a hobo. It’s definitely worth the hassle. The owners do a good job and the other staff is fun. Check it out! It’s my new regular place.

Empire Package is my neighborhood liquor store. Although there are many liquor stores in the area, this is the one where I feel safest, and not because there is a security guard(although he is very forbidding), but because the people who work here are so cool. I’ve never seen anyone act up in here, and I really think it’s because of the guys who work here. They have a sense of humor and you can hear them laughing and talking to each other but with customers, they are all business. Empire is a decent-sized store, so you’ll find all the usual liquors and beers. Empire is always neat and everything is well-organized, so I’m usually in and out in a few minutes. And even though there are usually only 1 – 2 people at the registers, I’ve never waited in line for a long time. These guys work fast; there is very little chit chat with the customers. There is enough parking in the shopping strip as long as it’s not an event night. On an event night, you’ll be parking next door or across the street if you don’t want to wait. I avoid Empire on an event night, or I go earlier in the day. Empire only gets 4 stars because nothing I want is ever on sale. Neon signs are posted all over the place with the price written on it as if it’s a deal, but anyone who shops at a Tower or a Green’s knows that it’s not; it’s the regular bottle price that you can find anywhere. Tip: Some brands(such as Grey Goose) are kept behind the counter, so if you don’t see it on the shelf, ask about it at the register. Unilocal 100 #2

Decent liquor store. Don’t particularly like their hours of operation some days… They close too early for my liking.

I don’t often review package stores but when I do its because I had a great customer service experience. My auntie purchased a bottle of wine and for a package store the staff was quite knowledgeable in helping us pick out a bottle. We brought it home and while opening it the bottle cracked. Now, I am no he woman but it cracked and we were concerned about glass shards in the bottle. We called up Empire since we are just down the block and they told us to come back. We brought the bottle back and they even gave us a choice of what we wanted to do. We elected to get another bottle and it went without a problem. They even opened the new bottle for us. I can really appreciate this customer service experience. Their selection is good with reasonable prices. The parking lot leaves something to desired but otherwise I’lll be back without hesitation.

Large store with a large selection, and they’ve always got what we want in stock. Super nice owners. The staff is very helpful, and remember us. A little tricky in and out of the small parking lot, and sometimes you have to watch out for some loitering, but they are very good about running off the unwelcome. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

There was an incredibly sketch liquor store on the same site when I first moved into the neighborhood. It was torn down a few years ago, and this new place is like a million times better. It’s BIG, clean, swank, the staff are helpful(always happy to answer my questions), and the prices are good. Location is far from the only reason that this is my preferred store for my personal alcohol needs.

It’s great to have a store in the neighborhood to pick up booze where the interaction isn’t tempered by plexiglass. The wine selection is iffy, but it’s got more to do with the market. The beer selection is pretty good and there’s no place else nearby where you can get a 30 pack of hipster beer for $ 15. Maybe I can’t find Redemption Rye or Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka here, but I can generally find old standbys. And I can get vermouth. Couldn’t get it at the Pitch & Putt on Glenwood. I can at Empire.

Love Empire Package! Ever since Hal’s package closed I’ve been without a reasonable package store. Don’t get me wrong, there is a package store on just about every corner in Decatur, but I prefer mine without bullet proof glass at the counter. That being said, Empire has no bullet proof glass. No, they aren’t going to suggest a wine to go with your fish. But it’s clean, lots of different beer, liquor, wine etc and has some of the best prices I’ve seen ITP. 6 pack of High Life tall boys is $ 3.70, cheapest I’ve seen yet. Best prices on Jaeger I’ve seen in Atlanta too. It’s in a weird location on Fayetteville Rd, but I drive 5 miles to go there, pass about 7 places other package stores and I don’t stop until I get to Empire. Oh yeah, they’re the only place in Atlanta that I’ve seen Whipahol Whipped Lightning(whipped cream with grain alcohol). I don’t know if i’d recommend it though.

I first discovered Empire a few years ago when I was visiting some friends in East Atlanta. I was impressed with their selection, service, and prices. Now that I live in the area, this has become my «go to» liquor store. Some of their prices are slightly higher than Green’s or Tower, but I don’t always feel like driving across town just to get a bottle. It’s also nicer and cleaner than most(if not all) of the liquor stores in this part of town.
