At the risk of sounding like a crazy person, I’ll admit that I needed Grady EMS Services twice in a 6 week period. The first time was an unfortunate incident at Burkhart’s where I walked by someone who was trying to break dance and they elbowed me in the nose. All kinds of goo started coming out and since I hadn’t even finished my first drink I figured I should attend to my injury before the night progressed(or regressed depending on your perspective). I called 911 and the operator was very friendly and seemed relieved that I didn’t want her to send a police officer. I’m sure most of these situations are true assaults, so I get where she was coming from. I tried requesting Nathan S. since she’s wicked cool and would not only know how to fix me, she’d also be a comfort. Because of privacy concerns, they weren’t able to accommodate my request. The crew that ended up coming was extremely nice, fun to talk to, and left me feeling better. Since I live in Fulton County there wasn’t any charge for them to check on me. A few weeks later I was leaving Bloomingdale’s and rear ended a car while getting onto GA400 South. Another Grady crew came to my aid. I was pretty whiney this time and at one point that were noticeably annoyed. They came through and I arrived at Atlanta Medical Center without my hand bleeding more than what would be expected in those situations. They even let me use my cell phone so I could call someone to meet me at the hospital. Grady gets a bad rap and in most cases I don’t think it’s warranted. Top notch service and great medical experts. Hopefully they’ll continue to make capital investments because the only thing that I can fault them for is the ambulance breaking down in the Burkhart’s parking lot. When I realized my nose wasn’t broken and I was mostly okay, the last thing I needed was to call more attention to myself. Drama queen, much?
