Gruby’s is a little expensive for a sandwich shop. The food is ok, but nothing great. I use to visit here a few years ago and the food was great; a fresh sandwich with fresh cut fries, but the past couple of times the fries have been cold and the sandwiches unimpressive. Service has also declined over the years, from a happy and friendly atmosphere to a «what do you want?» atmosphere. And the last time we were in the restaurant was pretty dirty, but it was early, so it should have been more clean in there. No wonder they got a bad health score of 69.

Just moved here from New York and am thrilled to have found Grubys New York Deli! I was there with my husband we each had a pastrami and corned beef sandwich. I felt like I was home! The meats melted in my mouth! The french fries were to die for. Very friendly staff. We highly recommend Grubys Deli and will be returning very soon!

My son and I had lunch there. We both ordered burgers. The burgers were bland. The burgers were supposed to come with fries and a side of cole slaw. We never got our cole slaw. Our waitress never checked on us after she brought our food. We had to go to the counter to ask for our check. With all of the restaurant choices in Atlanta, I do not recommend this place.

Twin Towers is my favorite sandwich. The best French fries you will ever eat. Good hot dogs. If you are expecting a good New York deli, this is not the place. Service is okay.

Tried the«Bronx Bomber» and was thoroughly surprised; it was quite enjoyable and very filling(definitely required more than two hands and dislocation of my jaw to take bites). Did not catch the health inspection score until I read the previous posts, makes me a little cautious about coming back but the food was good and I don’t base everything off of one score. The atmosphere is friendly and as I came at the lunch hour, I can imagine that is why my server wasn’t very conversational but I won’t hold it against them.

Get the hot pastrami sandwich! It’s not nearly was gigantic as you would get in NYC but it’s pretty tasty! I could see myself coming back here if I was craving a pastrami sandwich. Also a small fry is enough for 2 people! It’s huge… They also have Dr. Browns rootbeer. This place has the New York City feel. There are old pictures of New York and it felt nice to be around those photos. I really miss it there…

Closest deli I’ve found to a NY style deli in Atlanta. Corned Beef is OK. Service is friendly and fast.

Fast, fresh and plentiful all describe Gruby’s New York Deli. It is located around the corner from Northside Hospital in a plaza with a few other eateries. Make note that parking can be a chore depending on what time you go. I went around lunchtime and had to double park. The parking lot is a decent size so I couldn’t imagine why it was difficult to nab a spot. When I walked inside I instantly felt like I was in a busy New York Deli. There were so many different conversations going on and the cashier was yelling to someone in the back, «Is Jabari’s order ready?» I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Next thing I know my order was in my hand. I must say they are pretty fast as I had just placed my order no more than eight minutes before I picked it up. Although I would have loved to order a sandwich with Brooklyn in the name, because I’m from Brooklyn of course, I opted instead for the Bronx Bomber. It came with turkey, corned beef, and roast beef(plenty of all three!) on rye with Russian dressing. Oh. My. Baby. Jesus. It was delicious. Every single bite just as delectable as the last. I have been to the world famous Katz Deli and based off of this sandwich they may give Katz a run in the sammie department. It was so good that I went back two days later! If you’re feeling like meat and bread will do your body right then Gruby’s will feed that hunger.

I am so addicted to this place! From the second you walk in the door you are welcomed by the staff. You can order take out at the front counter or follow the glass deli counter to the host to be seated. This is my version of breakfast/lunch Cheers! I know all the waiters on a first name basis and before I sit down they already have my drink order. You cant go wrong with any of their mammoth sandwiches. Order by number, almost every sandwich comes with cole slaw and don’t forget the side of fries or oversized onion rings. Need some tongue? They sell beef tongue and have several sandwiches with tongue. Don’t hold your breath but you’ll never catch me with tongue, at least not from behind the counter even though the wait staff is cute! How can you go wrong with hot pastrami and corned beef stacked high with cole slaw and fresh bread. My go-to sandwich is the twin towers and when I say this sandwich is huge, I mean it! Adding the slaw with the dressing on the sandwich with stacked hot meat makes my fat kid heart swell! Every omelette is cooked with 3 eggs, side of toast or bagel, Northern style grits(thick!) and or home fries. The western omelette is un-believe-able! I like that they cook the onions, red peppers, mushrooms and cheese and then fold it in to the eggs rather than having raw ingredients. Hungry yet? Every sandwich is enough for two meals. I am here every week and almost every weekend. Come see why this breakfast and lunch spot is a cherished favorite by so many. Fuggeta-bout it! Long live, Gruby’s!!!

You can find Gruby’s New York Deli at 860 Johnson Ferry Rd NE, Atlanta, GA30342 in Sandy Springs near Northside Hospital. There’s also a Subway and Moe’s in the same shopping center, but I’m not sure why you would eat at either with Gruby’s nearby. Parking in the lot is quite busy, I believe mostly due to the UPS Store but luckily there’s additional parking in the back. Gruby’s is the closest deli I’ve found in Atlanta to those famous delis in New York — you can sidle up to the counter and order cuts of meats, sandwiches to go and what you would think of ordering form a typical deli. What makes Gruby’s special though are the sandwiches served when seating to dine. These are massive double-layer sandwiches you’ll have a hard time finding South of New England. There’s a common line to order and be seated, when busy you may have to stand for a while but there’s a mural of NYC overhead to keep you distracted. Once seated the service is very quick and very good. The menu has many options(some are more inclusive to breakfast which finishes before lunch — they do have some breakfast options that are offered all day). I always focus on the House Specialties page. While I’ve visited Gruby’s many times over the years, I finally spent a few minutes taking these images. I tend to order either the Bronx Bomber(which my friend Mike who grew up in Jersey assures me is the same as a sandwich they call a «Sloppy Joe» up there) is a particular favorite. The other sandwich I like quite a bit is the pastrami Reuben — you can get it just about any way you like it, with pastrami or corned beef. Today I opted for the Matzo Ball Soup as a start and I really should have ordered the half sandwich as I ended up taking half back to work. As a side I went with the slaw — while not the creamy slaw Southerners are used to I felt it more like what I’ve experienced in NYC — a bit wetter but still quite good and fresh. My dining companion went with an Egg sandwich. The Bronx Bomber is quite good — a combination of Turkey, roast beef(I ordered it rare — something else I like about Gruby’s, whether rare roast beef or beef tongue, you can order variations and they don’t blink an eye) and pastrami(my preference over corn beef) with a touch of Russian dressing(the real stuff, not that crappy Thousand Island) and slaw. Simply delicious and one of my favorite sandwiches. It comes with a nice Kosher dill spear — I sometimes get the fries but they aren’t my favorite(seem to come from a bag?), The Matzo Ball Soup was very good but may be a bit off-putting to some — the broth has a distinctive garlic taste that some may not like(I love it though). The ball was humongous, light, fluffy and quite good(if you’ve never tried, it’s difficult to get this this size without them being doughy). Service is quite good but this place is quite busy — at times it can take a while to be served, especially when they’re slammed. Still, the sandwiches are worth it. (also posted to my food blog)

If you wor from home and want to scope out some hot doctors and medical sales reps… this is your place. Not only that the food is good… really good. Never ending coffee(what!?) All of the napkins you want(what!?) And the service is on point. Quick friendly and efficient worth checking out. Highly recommend eggs and tomatoes and the bread is on point.

This deli is great. I had no idea it was so close to our office until my co-worker introduced me to it. I decided to try their lunch special during my last visit. It was the grilled chicken wrap with honey mustard, lettuce, tomatoes & onions. It definitely hit the spot. It came with my choice of soup so I selected the tomato bisque. The soup was creamy and seasoned just right. The grilled chicken in the wrap was seasoned well and there were plenty of pieces in my wrap. I liked how they used a spinach wrap and everything tasted fresh. It’s in a shopping center where parking is limited so expect to circle around a few times if you visit them during the mad lunch rush during the work week. The service was decent except towards the end when we couldn’t gain the attention of our server to pay our bill and head back to the office in a timely fashion. We ended up walking up to the counter and asking her to cash us out because we had no luck trying to flag her down from our table. The restaurant is clean and gets packed during the mid-day lunch rush but the food comes out pretty quickly so you’re in good shape if you only have an hour lunch break. I look forward to returning and trying other items off their menu. Their pastrami meat looked amazing. That’ next!

I got a hot pastrami sandwich and added coleslaw on it. It was delicious. I ordered to go, and I was in and out in probably less than 7 minutes. The person who rang me up was really nice. The sandwich had a lot of flavor. I would have liked the meat to have a little less fat, but overall delicious.

Best BURGER of my life. You have got to try the Gruby Burger. 3 different cheeses, juicy and adding bacon makes it clutch. The staff was friendly and service was quick and efficient. Perfect for a work lunch. We will totally be back.

Gruby’s is alright for some New York deli stuff. It’s kind of an alternative to Goldberg’s, but with more focus on the sandwiches, almost a bit like Jack’s New York Deli. Here’s what I had: Potato pancakes: Not quite the latkes I’ve had before, it’s alright. I prefer my latkes to be made with shredded potatoes like hashbrowns, but these were ok. They’re served with sour cream and pre-made/canned apple sauce. If you prefer savory, you’d probably like them plain or with sour cream. If you prefer them a little sweet, eat them with the apple sauce. Lox, Egg and Onion scramble: This was ok. It’s definitely flavorful and you can’t go wrong with eggs and onions but I don’t know if you could really call this lox as it just looks like bits of salmon. This is kind of a large serving which comes with your choice of home fries or grits, toast or bagel. I went for the home fries and an everything bagel, toasted with a side of cream cheese. The bagel tasted normal, but sometimes i topped it with my egg scramble. I had a bite of The Big Apple sandwich which is various cold cuts with even some chopped liver in it. The liver kinda steals the show on that one, so I think it’d be worth just getting the chopped liver alone as an app if you’re not into the sandwich. For a Sunday morning, this place got busier than I thought. Service is friendly and they’re very attentive about filling your coffee mug. I’d come back to try a few other items.
