First time coming here on a Chinese new year, we stepped in a deserted restaurant. That was the first sign I should’ve paid attention to and ran out when I had the chance. Long story short. Worst Korean food I ever had. The ribs were more expensive then the other places .We were given mostly bones and poorer cuts of beef. The banchan looked like it had seen better days. Their Kim chi was limp and tasteless. The mackeral had a bad after taste. We order the seafood pancake, how can they go wrong on that right? It was disappointing, as was the whole over all meal. I should’ve stuck to places I usually go to instead of going somewhere new on new year. Enough said, that ll be the last time I’m coming here again.

Best Korean I’ve had that’s not my mom’s cooking. Granted, I’m not a Korean foodie, I just want to eat food like my mom cooks but I can’t get because she’s hours away. And my mom is a kick@ss cook. The bi bim bop is terrific.. Tonight we ordered Man du to start — it was good(my mom’s are better), I’ve also had the seafood pancake and it’s great. L had the seafood bi bim bap and I had Kalbi. Kalbi was by far and away the best I’ve had that wasn’t cooked in front of me. VERY close to what my mom makes and the meat was high quality. Banchan was pretty typical, i love the dried fishies and haven’t found that in another spot. Radish kimchi was great, cabbage kimchi was a bit too fresh for my tastes but i’m not hating. I only wish they had a few more favorite dishes because I bet they would be spot on. Price is good too. I won’t go anywhere else from here on out. Rice is black and white rice which is delicious too. Listen, I’ve been dragged by folks to all the ‘best’ spots and they left me extremely dissapointed. This place did not dissapoint.

Okay, if you want a satisfying home style Korean food… Go home and ask your mom to cook for you and don’t waste your money. I was craving the Ssam Bap… it’s a big meal that usually accompanies one meat dish and Ssam(vegetable wraps — variety of lettuces and greens that acts as the wraps). Rice was good — as it came in the individual hot stone pot. My thing was the size of the meat plate — they should have never put it on the plate. It was to serve a 5 year old or something. 4 pieces of meat with lots of onions. What? I mean I know this wasn’t a meat dish, but still. I’ve had this at other places and this was the smallest portion I’ve seen. Maybe it was not a good night for the restaurant chef… maybe chef got chewed by the owner for putting too much on the plate? I don’t know what happened but it was sad. Well, other than that the ban chan(small dishes) were okay and service was okay. This place was just way too over priced for average food… I wouldn’t bother going back there again…

Jun Ju Jip recently relocated to this new(bigger & newer) location close to the Buford & Oakcliff intersection. I came here with a bunch of girlfriends for a party. We reserved a private room in the restaurant. We got seafood pancake & fried dumplings to start. The seafood pancake was pretty good… the dough part was dough-ier than I would’ve preferred, and there was a LOT of green onions(not my favorite, and I picked a lot of them out). I think I would’ve liked it when it was hot(we were waiting for our tardy friends, so the pancake was cool by the time we ate it). I’d give it a 3.5÷5. There was also a spicy sauce that was either meant to go with the pancake or the dumplings, that was very yummy and tasty. Being a picky eater, I didn’t have any of the dumplings because I’m not a huge fan of pork. But my friends seemed to enjoy it, and they finished everything off. For the entrée we each ordered our own dishes(or shared with a friend). Most of us got tofu stews or bibimbab(rice with veggies & choice of meat/seafood). I got the spicy seafood tofu soup– The soup wasn’t as flavorful as at some other soondubu places. It also had a good amount of onion and peppers(cheap filler ingredients– boo). But it did come with purple/black rice in stone pots, which I like. I’d give the seafood tofu soup a 3⁄5. Edible, not gross, but I’ve definitely had better soondubu elsewhere. The panchan was pretty good… they still have the pancake with chives. Yum. The thing that I do like about this place is the portion. Several of my friends shared 1 entrée between 2 people, and they couldn’t even finish that.(Granted, these gals might not eat much as some guys would, but the portions are still very decent). I could only get through half of my tofu soup, and brought the rest home for my husband, which he was very happy about. By the end of our dinner, we were all sitting around, saying how stuffed we were. The waitress also brought us a fruit platter, because she thought our party was for a birthday(it was a bachelorette party). We appreciated the fruit though. :) I think I’d like to come back again and try some other dishes. Oh, and the woman who spoke Korean, Chinese, and English is still around.(She was our waiter at Jun Ju Jip previously).
