The food was not cooked properly. There was not enough staff to serve everyone properly. It was very loud. We could not hold a conversation at the table. We felt like we were yelling at each other. The staff was congenial but did not go out of their way to make you feel you had a 5 star experience. The valet was the most positive employee we encountered the entire night. The overall experience was more of a Longhorn level restaurant. This was highly overpriced. It was my third and final visit to this restaurant.

Had dinner here on Friday evening. The service and food were amazing! I had the soft shell crab appetizer. Perfectly cooked and almost ordered seconds. I then had the lamb chops. They were cooked a picture perfect medium rare. I know it’s a steakhouse, but I wanted something different. And I was not disappointed. Our sides were four cheese Mac and cheese and roasted okara. Both were amazing. Our server was Mark and he took great care of us. We will be back soon.

Was super! We had steak and lobster tail and it’s the most succulent steak I have ever eaten in my life. Melt in your mouth, flavorful. The waiter was so courteous and kind considering we didn’t really come dressed for the occasion but he treated us like royalty. Totally Worth it.

McKendrick’s is a classic steakhouse located near Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody. It’s in the Park Place Shopping Center with other restaurants and cafes such as Alon’s, Café Intermezzo, and Eclipse di Luna. McKendrick’s opened in the Atlanta area in 1995 and there is only one location(it’s not a chain). This is an upscale, elegant, and classy restaurant. It’s a bit old fashioned, but that’s how most nice steakhouses go. It’s a popular place. In the evenings, the ambiance is dimly lit and intimate, ideal for a romantic date. There are white tablecloths and formally dressed servers who are professional and knowledgeable. Depending on party size, seating can get snug/cozy(but still comfortable), especially at the tables. If you want to have a better date experience, reserve a booth. McKendrick’s has a straightforward menu of steaks and seafood. As with other fine steakhouses, all items are ordered a la carte. Appetizers include dishes such as Maine lobster bisque, Oysters Rockefeller, and escargot. There’s a raw bar with shrimp, oysters, tuna, and more. There are about 10 different steaks, from an 8-oz. center-cut filet to a 24-oz. bone-in ribeye, a couple veal/lamp chops, and a half dozen fish to choose from. In the evenings, expect to spend about $ 10 per appetizer, salad, or side, $ 40 – 50 per steak, $ 30 – 40 per fish entrée, and $ 50 – 60 per lobster entrée. The food is simple yet delicious. Here’s a rundown of items I’ve tried: Steaks: Kansas City Strip. 18 oz. Chef’s Cut Bone-In Ribeye. 24 oz. Sides: Sauteed Jumbo Mushrooms Creamed Spinach French Beans(in Garlic Butter) Asparagus(with Hollandaise Sauce) Garlic Mashed Potatoes While it’s probably hard to go wrong with any of McKendrick’s steaks, I sometimes steer towards the bone-in steaks for more flavor. Both the Kansas City Strip and Chef’s Cut Ribeye are served with the bone. I’m no steak expert, but I think one of the primary differences between a KC strip and NY strip(both offered on the menu here) is the KC strip comes with a bone while the NY strip does not. Both strip steaks are cut from the short loin(middle of the back). I prefer to have my steaks cooked medium rare(warm, red center) to medium(pink center). I chose to have both the KC strip and the bone-in ribeye cooked medium rare. The steaks were fantastic. They were very satisfying with mouthwatering flavor. The KC strip was tender, juicy, and flavorful. It was leaner than the bone-in ribeye, which was softer and more rich and buttery. Both steaks are big, so come hungry if you want to tackle one of them in a single sitting. The sides are good. The garlic mashed potatoes are my favorite, probably because there’s so much garlic and butter in them. The baked creamed spinach is served piping hot. It’s appetizing and delicious with a slightly hard/crispy top layer. The sauteed jumbo mushrooms, French beans(green beans), and asparagus are all nicely cooked. The green beans and asparagus still have a nice firmness to them. The asparagus pieces are large and the plate comes with a side of thick and tasty Hollandaise sauce. Included with each meal is a complimentary basket of sliced bread. It includes a few different types of bread. Service is great. Book reservations on OpenTable and earn free dining points. Valet parking is available directly outside and there are plenty of free self-park spaces too.

3-star food and service, adjusted for the high prices. If I closed my eyes I would have thought I was at Longhorn, until the check came. From the valet to the hostess to the server, the service was very flat and uninspiring. My dinner date even commented on a few occasions that she thought the waitress was tack or rude. The filet was dry, and I can tell you that I’ve grilled better steak at my house from Whole Foods. The Caesar salad was mediocre, and was not the authentic recipe. Hint: bottled Caesar dressing doesn’t make a salad«Caesar». Again, what I make at home is superior. Lastly, what’s with the«family style portions» or side items? What is this, the Smith House? One of the most disappointing meals to date…

This upscale steakhouse in Dunwoody offers pretty much what you would expect from an upscale steakhouse in Dunwoody. Very comfortable and accommodating. We arrived a little early for a 7:15 reservation on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. Our server, Jeff, was polite, attentive, and very professional. Ordered iced tea and coke. Tea was unsweetened, as I expected. It would have been nice for simple syrup to be available with the tea as offered at other higher end restaurants. Fresh bread came to the table quickly with chilled butter and was good. I had a Caesar salad, which was fresh, cold and crisp, but nothing out of the ordinary. My husband ordered the 14 ounce, 35-day dry-aged NY strip that was the special that night and I ordered the 8 ounce filet and we split a la carte sides of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The steaks were perfectly cooked inside, but I was not a huge fan of the«char» they explained is their way of cooking the steaks. A little too burnt tasting for me. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak. I felt the steaks could have used a bit more seasoning as well, unless that was lost in the char. For $ 10.95 I expected more from the creamed spinach. It was fresh spinach, which is great, but could have been drained so it didn’t water down the cream sauce, which as a result was not very tasty. Tasted predominately of garlic. The mashed potatoes were very creamy. I would have liked to try to the lobster mac and cheese I’d heard raves about, but it was the hub’s birthday and he does not eat seafood, so I skipped it. Knowing we were there to celebrate, Jeff kindly offered us a free dessert, which we declined, being quite full, but he did give us two cups of their excellent coffee on the house. If I go back to another high-end steakhouse, it will be Rathbun Steak in Atlanta, which is vastly superior.

First visit to this restaraunt and we dined with two other couples. I will start with two minor negatives; the bar area is not conducive for a group of six to enjoy a cocktail and chat. It is, in my opinion, geared more towards couples or individuals. Having said that, the bartender was service oriented and the drinks were made to perfection. The second minor drawback was that the background music did not match the atmosphere; the music was more«pop» and the atmosphere of the restaurant lends itself to more of a «jazz» background. The meal itself was great, I enjoyed an 8 oz filet mignon that was the perfect temperature and charred nicely. The side dishes were generous and well prepared. Our server made some solid wine pairing recommendations as well. He was attentive without being overbearing. I finished with a cup of decaf, nice and mellow, and the crème brullee which was quite tasty.

Outstanding local steak house with awesome steaks and outstanding service. Visiting Atlanta for a business trip and this place came highly recommend and it sure didn’t disappoint. Aged Midwestern beef cooked to a perfect medium rare was a cap off to a long work day. Paired with a nice martini and a la carte sides this was a truly memorable meal. The staff was incredible and knew the menu throughly which was nice for visiting guests. Really nice décor made for a relaxing environment. Only warning I’ll offer is be prepared to drop some serious cash as this place isn’t cheap but you get what you pay for. When in the area again I’ll be back.

Went for Thanksgiving with the family. It was crowded, but that was to be expected. Got our favorite waiter Mark and he was great as usual. The food wasn’t as good as last time. The fried oyster appetizers that three of us got were way overcooked and came out cold. We didn’t send them back, but should have. Two of us got the«lightly» fried shrimp and they had a heavy batter that I didn’t care for. My husband’s steak was good and my son enjoyed his scallops, but nothing was remotely hot. The onion rings were the best part of the meal. The owner went by everyone’s table but ours. Will go again, but definitely not on a holiday.

Nice high end room and tables I’ll give ‘em that. But service sucked as I had to ask Brian our server three times to fill my water glass. The seafood soup was good and T-bone steak too salty. They got the Pittsburgh char down and their mashed potatoes were out of this world creamy.

Came in with no reservation late Monday night and was seated immediately. The service was fantastic. Bread was served right away, a white bread and raisin bread. Cocktails shortly followed. I had an old fashioned(or two) and they really hit the spot. The French onion soup was fantastic. Never in my life did I think I would be satisfied with the amount of cheese served to me, but last night I was. And I was happy for it! The Caesar salad was perfectly dressed and also well cheesed. I got anchovies as well and the were good but they put a ton on there. Finally the main course… I got the 8 ounce filet medium and it came closer to medium rare. Perfect. I think they typically cook the steaks too rare because other waiter asked for me to cut in right away. I liked it. Accompanied with some Brussel sprouts with bacon and mushroom risotto and I was all set! Finished with a coffee as I was plenty full to skip dessert.

My favorite steakhouse and there’s a reason they win awards. Best cooked steaks, great flavor, and service is everywhere you turn. The sides are just as good. You’l leave with a full and satisfied belly… and a much lighter wallet, so if you are looking to splurge on a special occasion or hosting a business dinner it’s worth every penny.

I ordered the special, steak oscar and was extremely impressed. I’m not typically a steak eater but this is a one and only place I will eat steak from. Save room for the dessert!

Great steakhouse. Compared to Bones and Chops this place is much more lively. Went on a Wednesday night at 9 and the place was packed. Lots of activity. I prefer this kind of atmosphere as it made the place feel less stuffy and more friendly. It was a little loud just from conversation going on around us, but there was no annoying music. I did not mind the noise. I had the 35 day dry aged bone in ribeye and it was glorious. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. There was a nice crust all the way around with a slight char on the outside. Once you cut into the steak, it was pink all the way through with a warm red center. They also did an excellent job trimming away any inedible fat. In terms of price, it was 75 $ for the aged steak. The same non aged steak was $ 55. A little less expensive than Bones and Chops and significantly less expensive than Rathbun’s and Marcel. Love this place. Will be back soon.

This is hands down my favorite steak and seafood place in Atlanta. And I’ve had some really awesome steaks in other cities such as NYC, Vegas, and Los Angeles. McKendrick’s signature side is the lobster mac and cheese which I highly recommend. The bone in ribeye is a must try. If you’re into happy hour, the bar service is top notch. I come here often and will continue to do so. Keep up the great work Chef Tom!

Omg! Best place ever!!! I don’t think I have ever had such a good steak anywhere else in my life. To top it all we got a recommendation of a bottle of Malbec 2012 from Argetina and it was probably the best wine I’ve ever had too. Our waiter’s name is Marc and I swear on anything he is the best waiter I’ve ever had! I suggest you ask for him as your waiter … I’m so pleased and very satisfied with the service!!!

Thanks to a co-worker leaving, I was able to enjoy a wonderful lunch here. This restaurant reminded me of a typical upscale«business» restaurant. Well, at least at lunch it did. There were suites and ties further than the eye could see! We did make reservations which I would highly recommend. The server was very professional yet friendly. They start you off with bread which I particularly like. I ordered the Red Snapper, which was a lunch special, and it was fantastic! I also had French onion soup which was also first class! The dessert menu looked extremely yummy but after the large portion of fish I had to pass. This is definitely the place to take that potential client!

My husband and I saw MCKENDRICK’S listed as one of the top steak houses in the US in a magazine on our plane ride to Atlanta. As steak fanatics we just had to try it. We were a bit concerned after calling in advance to find thatvtge dress code was business casual and we were both on a quick recreational trip with all jeans and sneakers. I guess since this was a Sunday evening they told us it would be alright. When we arrived, it was not very busy, just a few tables occupied. I must say, our treatment was VIP all the way. Our waiter Michael was very helpful & very knowledgeable about all of our choices. We started with the fried oysters, italian wedding soup & the blue crab cake as an appetizer. All were awesome, but the crab cake was the best, and Michael’s choice, as my husband was undecided & asked him to surprise us with his personal favorite. Ad our main course, we split the 32oz dry aged tomohak ribeye, cooked medium. It was excellent! Our incredible sides were the lobster mashed potatoes and creamed corn with bacon. The only complaint I could possibly have is that we didn’t have room for desert. All in all, the food, service & atmosphere were all top notch.

While in Atlanta for work, I was assigned the task of finding a good place for us to eat dinner. I found McKendrick’s Steak House on Unilocal and the reviews/pictures looked really good so I grabbed my colleagues and scuttled on over in an Über. Arriving at McKendrick’s we felt underdress as we were rocking our casual finest and everyone else was in business casual attire. But unlike the episode of the Golden Girls when the girls came to dinner in the nude at the nudist colony and everyone else was dressed to the nines; we didn’t turn and leave… we did the stride of pride over to our table for 6 right near the front center of the restaurant. The service at McKendrick’s is impeccable. We felt like the victors from the Hunger Games with the level of attentiveness, yet not intrusiveness, we received. Our servers provided detail recommendations on entrees and appetizers/sides that would be good for sharing. They also made sure our water glasses were never more than 40% empty and that our cocktails magically appeared before we even realized we wanted another one. I didn’t get pictures of every appetizer and entrée that we had because I was too busy eating and drinking so I apologize. What I do recall us having is listed below. –12oz filet butterfly cut(medium well) was cooked to perfection and so juicy as you can see from the picture. One of the top 5 steaks I’ve ever had. Round of applause to the chef! –12 oz filet(medium rare so no butterfly cut). My colleague said, «This steak is making taking my taste buds to new heights» so i take that to me she enjoyed it. –Lobster Mashed Potatoes were delicious and had a huge amount of lobster which was appreciated by the entire table. –Garlic Spinach got two thumbs up from my colleagues. I didn’t have any because I was too busy digging into those lobster mashed potatoes. –Mac & Cheese was good, but needed just a little more cheese and some pepper to make it a must try. Next time I’m in the ATL I will be visiting McKendrick’s and this time I’ll rock some khakis and a polo.

Steakhouses aren’t much for me since I changed to more white meats and veggies on my plate. Admittedly, McKendrick’s steaks aren’t all that bad. Since my sister was visiting Atlanta on business, she kindly asked me out to dinner, and, after throwing around venue ideas, McKendrick’s popped up. She had recently gone to dinner here prior and apparently loved it so much she had to try it again. Being familiar with«I-adore-this-place» quick double visits, I obliged the idea of a steakhouse even though I’m not quite a fan. I was curious though. Would this place provide such an amazing steak? Would I even get a steak? I was actually quite relieved she picked this place instead of my gastropub choices since her entire audit team was with her as well — a party of ten. Given the party size, the staff was very patient and organized throughout the entire evening too. All of which was great. A couple of glasses of a nice white wine, delicious baked bread, seafood, steak, salads, and an inviting atmosphere made for a lovely evening. The menu is a clean one page menu consisting of appetizers, seafood, salad, steak, then your choice of side. Almost all of your sides will be $ 10 added to your $ 40-$ 50 dollar entrée. While debating over a trio tower of appetizers and maybe an 8 oz. fillet, my sister points out how good the Blue Alaskan Crab Legs are. I really enjoyed all her previous recommendations, so I decided to go with that, with their house salad, choosing the crab legs as my entrée. I can say they were some of the best crab legs I’ve ever had. The freshness and seasoning was perfect and with a mild hint of the ocean. They provide butter warmed by a tea candle, a cocktail sauce, and a creamy mayo based sauce. You can have them steamed or chilled. And for convenience, they pre slice the legs so you have no need to work for the meat. The salad was simply okay, mostly, since it was heavily drenched in the house dressing. I tried a little bit of the Rib-eye, and it was very good. However, some of my group’s steaks, including my sister’s fillet, wasn’t meeting their expectations I felt. Since she also had sampled her husband’s Rib-eye and was much more impressed with it than her own fillet. Perhaps their consistency was slacking. I’m unsure. We also tried the white chocolate mousse which came with fruit atop and a sprig of mint. I’m not a white chocolate fan, but it was very creamy and smooth. Of course, I loved the fruit more though! So some run downs: Great seafood, apparently the lobster mac and cheese is stellar stuff, the Rib-eye rocked some socks, and a definite recommend on the crab legs if you’re a crustacean lover like myself. The staff was also very professional and friendly. Low-lit dining experience. They like candle-lit ambiance. Very nice business and intimate dining restaurant.

Claudia and Doug, you’re doing a great job with your steakhouse baby!!! We came on a great night for special dinner… given a large 6 person booth, lots of personal space between us and next diners. Wonderful late night steak dinner, cozy dark wood as steakhouses are wont to be, and a gloried past that the décor did well to usher in. Loved the vase of flowers upon entering, and the overall look. Food: Killed it… so «bad”(the michael jackson kind of bad). From the walnut bread to the great sides of roasted veg(ea. about $ 8, we tried the seasonal okra and butternut squash), to the perfectly cooked mero sea bass($ 26?) and NY Strip(12 oz ran $ 40) I was in tears about my meal. Bf ordered a Russian River chard that I sipped from. Located in a little plaza across the street east of Perimeter Mall… in its company are at least 3 or 4 other places with varied cuisine. Enjoyed the meal tremendously. SO memorable for me.
