I am always searching for Texas bar-b-q in Atlanta since it is hard to find good beef brisket here. The brisket at Michons had very good flavor and it was moist but it was a disappointment because it was 40% pure fat that was not eatable. I found it amazing that they actually gave me this as if I would eat it. A couple slices were nothing but pure fat, no meat at all. I can say I won’t be back. There are many places to eat downtown and I would be surprised if this one survives very long. I was there at 11:45 and nobody else was there. I think I know why.

We were stuck in Atlanta, and thank goodness a local recommended Michon’s. LOVED the ribs and the chicken wings. My favorite sides were the Mac and cheese, and the sweet potatoes, yummmm! My husband loved the Mac and cheese and the greens! Best of all was the staff, the south has the friendliest people.

The place has a nicer fast food atmosphere kinda like a chipotle but BBQ! The meet is tender and moist. No I usually like to eat mustard based bbq but their vinegar based is really good. I would suggest trying the side of peppered bbq it is pretty awesome, but so are the rest of the available sauces. The Mac and Cheese may look weird to the eye but has a great taste on the tongue. Overall a nice place to try.

The ribs were great, the sauces are tasty, the potato salad was delicious, and the macaroni and cheese was especially good. I was very impressed. The only negative was the fact that the beef ribs had been discontinued even though they are still on the board. You have to pre-order a rack if you want to taste them. The meal I had for $ 12 would be $ 20 back home and it tasted a lot better too.

One of the worst BBQ places I have ever been to. I had the chicken, it was very dry and tough. It wasn’t even hot. My friends got the French dip, it was awful too. The only difference between the beef sandwich and the French dip is the cheese! No aunts, nothing extra. The only thing that was good were the bag of chips. If you want to waste your money go here. If not, go across the street to Hsu’s.

Thank you, Derrick of Michon’s, for saving my Thanksgiving! After completely missing the pick up time for my Michon’s Cajun Fried Turkey, I thought I was just going to have to make the best of things with a spread of side dishes — but Mr. Derrick was here to save my day! He kindly offered to drive back from his family holiday to his closed restaurant on Thanksgiving morning so I can pick up my turkey. Thank you so much… and let your family know that I do appreciate this.

The best thing that can be said about Michon’s was the friendliness of the staff. However, everything else was sub-par. There were warning signs of what was to come, but we foolishly ignored them: 1. It was around 12:30 on a weekday and the place was dead — there were no other patrons there, which is very uncommon in this busy area. Adding insult to injury, we ate there and no customers even came in while we were eating our meal. 2. When we ordered chopped pork plates, they scooped out the pork and sent it through a sandwich warmer/oven to heat it up. As you might expect, the chopped pork was not very tender, and was very bland. Their house BBQ sauce also did not do much to save it. The greens and cream corn, however, were serviceable except that the cream corn was lukewarm at best. Unfortunately, everyone in our group was very disappointed by the food, and none of us plan on returning.

I agree with the previous reviewer. I came with friends just as they opened and also no mac n cheese. I had a side of potato salad, which was apparently from yesterday because when my friend ordered the same, they were out of it. The soda machine ice maker wasn’t working and the soda was warm. The counters near the machine also had not been cleaned yesterday. Supposedly opens at 11am but didn’t open doors until 1230.

I was disappointed because I came in to get a smoked caesar salad for lunch(I got there right as they opened which was late at 11:45am), yet they were out of salad so I settled for the chopped pork plate. My disappointment continued when I was told they were out of mac and cheese as well. Everything about my meal was average, nothing special that would make me need to return. However, I thought it was odd that they didn’t provide a piece of bread with my bbq(usually texas toast or cornbread). I doubt I’ll return for the simple fact that I can’t be sure if they will be open nor have the meal I would come in for.

Brisket was dry, tough, and fatty and with little flavor. No mac and cheese at 12:15. No fountain drinks. Slaw and potato salad were sub-grocery-store deli. Not worth the walk if you live or work next door. «Since 1990?!?» Don’t know how they survived.

Just very basic BBQ. Definitely, not anything to make me even think about going back. The set up, vibe, food, nothing is special about this place. However, it was the first BBQ place I have visited in my life where I BBQ platter did not come with a slice of bread! I hate to say it, but don’t waste your time here!

As I returned to my office with my lunch from Michon’s I knew the food would have to blow me away in order for me to leave an average review. That’s because the service getting the food was awful. I’ll get to that later. The food did not blow me away, in fact it lowered my opinion of this place. I had the pork rib plate which came with two sides, and after I asked, cornbread, but not sauce(-). I guess because I forgot to ask. The 3 large ribs were on the better side of ok, definitely smoked(+) but a little tough(-) and could have benefited from some sauce. I’ve had ribs as good or better at Durangos which is just a block away and closer to most offices. For my two sides I got the greens and mac and cheese, because they were out of potato salad(-). No, it wasn’t the end of the day, they just didn’t have any. The greens were ok, not good, just ok. The mac and cheese was the worst I’ve had in a LONG time(-) runny(-) with no flavor whatsoever(-). The cornbread was old(-) and stale(-). None of that was acceptable given their prices and with them knowing they’re competing for a limited lunch time crowd. Competing with places that are more conveniently located in a food court and competing with real restaurants that have ambiance. I patronized the Quizno’s that was previously in that location and was always amazed at the poor customer service they had, given their less than ideal location. Guess that’s why they are not there anymore. Well, like most everything else in the place Michon’s has taken the poor customer service of the previous tenant and made it their own(-). No one acknowledges customers when then walk in(-). Everyone that came in while I waited and waited for my order seemed to be thinking the same thing I thought. It can’t have the same ordering process as Quizno’s had. If it does why don’t they have an «Order Here» sign like Quizno’s had? So every customer just kind of drifted back and forth until they were able to catch the attention of an employee and ask where to order. Of course one of the 3 employees could have just spoken up and told us where to go, but they were too busy, talking on the phone, resending meat and cornbread through the Quizno’s toaster(Hint: it barely melted cheese it isn’t heating up the food.) and generally looking confused as to what was going on(-). When the really nice girl pushed my food container towards me I was so shocked that it wasn’t bagged that I just gave up. Walked my 3 blocks holding my container with both hands and thinking, it’s easier to drive to Fox Brother’s. I’m going to check back in about 6 months. If they are still there I’ll be surprised. A business with that location has to have awesome food and incredibly great service. Michon’s has neither. Hope they got a bargain on a short lease.

Food is okay, portions are decent and prices are okay. Food isn’t great, though and service was crazy-slow. I agree with the earlier comment that it is odd keeping all the Quiznos stuff. I am sitting next to a guy eating his salad out of a Q shaped basket. I would suggest making your own brand, Michon’s Folks. I wish them the best of luck. They are in a tricky location that isn’t easy to find and there isn’t a lot of foot traffic. Wouldn’t hurt to do some advertising, to be sure. I park in the garage that houses this place and didn’t know it was here for over a month. There are no BBQ places that I know of within walking distance so I think this could do well, just need to make it more noticeable and speed up service for the business lunch crowd. Get some buzz going and they could make a fortune catering parties and meetings in all of these tall buildings surrounding us.

Where should I start? Maybe with a prediction? They ain’t gonna make it… Sorry, but I really think that it is true. I have gone to their south side location MANY times. The core loyal customer at that location could go to the nicely located restaurant with FREE parking in order to go inside to hang out at the bar, watch sports highlights, meet up with a friend, have a sit down with menu and waiter service, Sunday brunch buffet, enjoy a dance class… The customer of this location that has taken the place of an out of business Quizno’s(nope, they did not change ANYTHING about it, you KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that you are sitting in a Quizno’s — same tables, same format by which one has to order, the bread warmer is in place and operational, the same drink machine, they even still have the same sign up for Quizno’s famous lemonade(though they do not serve it). Their pure customer base is lost — you can enjoy nothing about this place that you did before. So, they are reduced to a downtown lunch spot. Look around. If you are in the food court, fine. But, the working crowd of this section of downtown are pretty spoiled. If the weather is anything less than ideal — we are NOT exiting our buildings, we are not putting on a coat. There is really no reason for it. From time to time, we might venture out for something that is a little higher scale — but it is not typically going to be for something that could EASILY be placed in a food court. McDonald’s didn’t even survive down here because you had to go outside to enter it. I read a previous reviewer to say that they had the green beans because they were out of collards. I realized a trick that they are playing. On the menu, they say ‘greens’. They serve green beans out of the can because they are ‘technically’ greens, though not what people are looking for. The macaroni recipe has changed, it is not ‘real’. The smoked wings were uninspired. As I tasted the salty chicken meat — I realized something. If this is their only location — WHERE are they smoking their meat? I dunno, but I am pretty sure that there were no smokers in Quizno’s AND that considering they are in the downstairs of an office building, it is highly unlikely that they have anywhere to smoke the meat onsite. Several years ago, this business was featured on Kitchen Nightmares. If THAT was the nightmare, then this is a downright terror. I would love to be a fly on the wall if they were to return to see all of the lessons that they obviously did not learn from that experience.
