They did a great job on my bumper and got it done quick and half of what another shop quoted me. Not the most organized company in the world but I’d use them again for sure…

So I’m getting rid of my car in a month or two and the brakes started screeching last week. I texted someone who used to work here and told him I needed the cheapest possible solution. He said he doesn’t work there anymore but ended up telling me to go there because he was too busy. He told me I should get new pads and it would be $ 150. So I called his contact at Midtown Collision and the guy immediately told me to replace the rotors as well, and he would charge $ 250 total, tax included. I figured for an extra $ 100, it might be worth it so when I turn the car in, the brakes don’t feel weird.
Dropped the car off and it was done very quickly. Great. In the meantime, I realized I forgot to tell them that I needed my drivers side visor fixed. I called and asked them about that and they said it needed to be replaced and would cost $ 110 but they wouldn’t charge for labor. I jumped on Amazon and found it for $ 40. In their defense, they told me to order it and they would install it for free. But still, something like that is a little sketchy. And the dishonesty begins.
Went to pick up the car and was told they don’t accept cards. More sketch! The owner tried to tell me that he’s charged a 5% fee from the card companies. What he didn’t know was that my wife works in payment strategies for one of the biggest banks in the country. I told him he should only be charged about 2.5% to which he replied «Why should I pay that?» Perfectly reasonable point except for the fact that he lied about the 5%.
So he tells me there’s a Wells Fargo «down the street.» I drive two miles there, which is exactly what I want to be doing the day before Thanksgiving. I take out the money but got $ 10 too much because the ATM would only let me take out $ 240 or $ 260. No problem. I get back to the mechanic and tell him I need $ 10 in change back. He laughs and says he just got there and doesn’t have any cash. Really? That was the straw that broke the sketchy camel’s back. A large collision garage doesn’t have $ 10 laying around? I told him I agreed to pay the extra $ 100 for the rotors and now I wanted my $ 10. His response was «Did I make you need brakes?» No, but I did agree to pay you $ 250 and you just took $ 260… so where’s my $ 10?
I just shook my head and walked away. He said «Really??» as I walked away. I can’t stand dishonest people, especially when they assume their customers are uneducated. It’s not the $ 10, it’s that every time there was communication, there was some sort of dishonesty.
So there you go guys, you got my extra $ 10 which resulted in a terrible review on Unilocal.Hope it was worth it.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Despite a written estimate from Midtown Collision stating they’d use only authentic ford parts for the repairs on my vehicle, they instead used aftermarket ill-​fitting junk yard parts. Further, I found that the shop pocketed $ 566.65 for parts they were supposed to completely replace on the car but did not. This was only visible when the car was on a lift so I assume many people never even realize they’ve been cheated. They refused to own up to their obvious mistakes and I ended up having to sue them! Just search court dockets in Fulton County and see for yourself. Ultimately, Midtown Collision accepted $ 2352.17 in payments from the insurance company to «repair» my car. In order to correct Midtown Collisions’ «repairs» it cost $ 2,777.58. These guys are total crooks.
I took my car to Midtown Collision for repairs after an accident. I have a 2003 Mustang GT which I have babied for the six years I owned it and it had never been in an accident prior to this one. I was concerned about maintaining the car’s value and made sure Mike May, the owner of Midtown Collision, understood that I wanted genuine ford replacement parts for my car and he wrote me an estimate showing that only those parts would be used. The at-​fault driver’s insurance company was paying for the repairs and I made sure to tell the shop that I didn’t mind paying the difference in cost, if there was one, for the parts if the insurance company insisted on paying only for aftermarket parts. The «repairs» took ten days to complete and I received little communication about what was going on with my car while it was there.
When I picked up my car, I was shocked to see its condition. Both the front and back bumpers were ill fitting and had obvious jagged gaps in the body work. The bumpers put on my car were definitely not ford parts. And you know how many mustangs (depending on the year) have «mustang» embossed in big letters across the rear bumper? Well prior to the accident, mine did but when I got my car back from the shop, I was shocked to see that the bumper put on my car didn’t even have the mustang logo! When questioned about the obvious substandard work and incorrect parts, Mike May insisted that he was forced to use those parts because the insurance company told him too and that I would have to take it up with them. This was a total lie as I later found out after meeting with the insurance company to review the «repairs.»
I didn’t realize just how cheated I was until I had the car put up on a lift for the insurance company to examined the «repairs.» I found that a total of $ 566.65 was paid to the shop for car parts that were never even replaced on the car! You have to get the car up on a lift or get up under it to tell so I am sure they get away with this a lot. Parts that were supposed to be completely replaced on my car included the front ($ 89.00) and rear bumper absorbers ($ 144.17). These are the styrofoam looking blocks under the bumpers that help absorb energy in a crash and both were broken in the accident. The body shop chose not to replace them and instead pocket the cash assuming I’d never know anyway. Another part they were paid to replace and did not do was the right muffler and tail pipe at $ 333.48. For some reason, and definitely without my knowledge, someone from the shop drove my car to Lilburn and had someone weld the bent and broken muffler in place and straighten it to give it the appearance of being replaced. That’s a total of $ 566.65 the shop charged me for parts and pocketed instead of actually buying parts and replacing them as directed. To add insult to injury, the body shop scuffed up and damaged both my headlights. Mike May eventually admitted that he had tried to do me a favor and «clean» them so I could «see better at night.» I never asked him to touch the headlights and ultimately the damage to those resulted in my having to completely replace them both at a cost of $ 250.00.
I tried on several occasions to resolve the issue with the body shop. During one attempt, Mike May, a grown man, tried to pick a fight without provocation with my teenaged brother who accompanied me to the shop. I assume this was to avoid my straight forward questioning about the parts on my car. He never accepted responsibility for the obvious screw up and refused to fix the car.
Left without any other options, I had to hire a lawyer and sue them. That took almost a year to resolve with their insurance company ultimately paying out the claim. Unfortunately, the only real punishment the shop received from this was an inconvenience of being sued and maybe higher insurance premiums but that’s likely it. I imagine it was certainly not a deterrent for them to continue on cheating people on their car repairs.

This place is a damn joke and is less of a business and more of a trap for your car for them to drain you of money. I got my car towed on december 28^th to midtown by futos because the tow would be free. After calling them every single day for THREE WEEKS with no answer I finally get a call back from mike that they have been on Christmas vacation for that amount of time and left me his cell pnone number. Then after calling both numbers for 2 more weeks with no answer I finally had to pay someone to go get my car and take it somewhere else. Who I hired to get the car told me they wanted $ 800 for the car but talked them down to $ 400 for the towing ($ 200, when mike told me it was $ 175 the ONE time I’d talked to him in over a month of midtown having my car) and the other $ 200 for storage fees, when they wouldn’t even pick up the phone or return any of my calls. After hearing this I called them about the charges and they answered the phone for the FIRST TIME EVER after still calling them every single day for over a month. Mike replied with all these excuses about how he lost his phone and called me but from different numbers and his sons number and said I just didn’t see it because it was a different number. I had NO missed calls from mike, midtown, or any messages from any unknown numbers at all. When asked about why no one answers the phone, be said that was impossible because Terry always answers the phone. I talked to terry and he said he answers the phone and listens to all the messages, so I said, «Ok Terry, if you listen to all the messages, then you know how many messages I’ve left, which indicates how many times you have not picked up the phone, right?» To which he replied «uh, yeah.»
I am having a hard time believing this place is a legit and actual business and not just in business with futos to trap cars and demand money to towing and storage fees. If they were an actual business they would answer their phone more than once a month and not fill my ear with excuses.
Dealing with this place has been a nightmare and guess what? It is February 12^th and I am still not done dealing with this places bulls**t. I left a message (of course) for them 3 weeks ago to send me the receipt for the bill, called every day for a week leaving messages, someone finally picked up and said that was mikes deal and he wasn’t in. I asked if he could just find it and fax it and he didn’t know where it was. I called again for a week and finally when someone answered that week they said the same thing, that mike had it and he had a family emergency and wasn’t in.
I don’t know how many more excuses they can think of or how many more business ethics they can break but I am still waiting on that fax to be done with them and stop wasting my time on calling them every day for almost 3 months with absolutely NO HELP WHATSOEVER. Having my car taken to midtown collision was the biggest mistake I have EVER MADE. I urge no one to ever go here ever again. It was a nightmare and a all around joke. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.
