Great place for tacos! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I recommend the chips and salsa sampler. The pastor taco is delicious.

We’ve visited this place a few times and have had mixed results. The seating outside is really nice and provides a great way to enjoy the market while eating. However, if the weather is too cold for sitting outside, the wait was insane on a Saturday night. They told us an hour and kept pushing our wait longer because they were seating«VIP’s»(funny…they don’t take reservations)!! We finally gave up and went elsewhere. Service is 1 star. The food is good, tacos are fresh(small but well prepared). The catfish taco is excellent. Salsas are very good with 3 varieties and always seem very fresh. I’d give the food 4 stars. Margaritas are just ok. If you like a margaritas made from scratch with various tequila choices, you’re out of luck. These are typical«menu margaritas» …made with mixes and I’m sure made in large batches. Not exactly what you’d expect from an up scale place. 2 stars. They’ll need to step up their game to compete with so Many better choices at PCM. Tip for restaurant… Buy a few outdoor heaters and keep the outside area open all the time.

Minero is an updated take on Mexican tacos, in particular, food from Michoacan — in the Southwestern part of Mexico. The tacos are generally pretty good, the drinks are excellent, the ambiance is fresh, but the waits can be very long. It’s has awesome ambiance and drinks, which is a reason to come, but don’t bring kids, because there’s nothing for them to eat. Minero is another part of the rash of restaurants that are trying to make upscale tacos and Mexican food in Atlanta. Of course, this cuisine is not impossible to find along Buford Highway, as most of the Mexican community in Atlanta is from Michoacan, but will not have the ambiance that Minero has. In terms of ambiance, the inside of the restaurant is eye-poppingly cool. Looks like an awesome place for drinks. We sat outside and on a cool day, it was an awesome place to enjoy Ponce City Market. We had the Charcoal Wings doused in Valentina. These are literally grilled wings that they take, put in a small paper bag, douse with Valentina — a popular Mexican hot sauce — and shake. So they are decent, but are taste like grilled wings you would make at home. The tacos actually were pretty good, although fairly small. The menu is spartan, but the drinks are excellent. I had the Margarita and that was awesome. The food, other than the wings was pretty good. There were only two complaints. First, when we went on a Friday, the food service was very slow. And second, there are a lot of kids.(Think Tacqueria del Sol numbers of kids.) That’s a problem because there’s absolutely nothing for them to eat on the menu. So you’re server will likely make a million trips back to find something that kids expecting cheese quesadillas will never be happy with. But all in all, for pure Mexican food — not Tex-Mex like Tacqueria del Sol — this is the best place intown Atlanta. Great drinks. Food that remains true to its roots. Once it works out the speed of service and broadens the menu just a bit, this place could truly shine. As it is, it is a pretty good place to get Michoacan inspired food, if you are not on Buford Highway and an über cool place to grab a drink.

I came here for lunch during my first visit to Ponce Street Market. It was a challenge selecting among the eateries, and I was quite pleased with my pick. The prices are a little higher than hole-in-the-wall taco places, but that is to be expected! Well decorated, with plenty of seating, this restaurant is perfect for a meal with friends. The food was delicious, and I highly recommend ordering the chips and guacamole.(Chips had the perfect crunch!) We also ordered every single type of taco off the menu, and highlights were the: steak, chorizo, and catfish tacos.

I’ve been here twice now and both times were really good. I tried a few things here first was the sandwich of the day and I honestly can’t remember what all was in it but it was FIRE! We all were sharing everything so the small ¼ piece of the sandwich I had was amazing. The next thing we ordered was the wings and the tacos. I was a little sad when she mentioned the wings would not be crispy because who really likes chewy soggy wings? Well to our surprise the wings had a really flavorful smokey/spicy taste and once you threw on some more Tapatio sauce it was a wrap. The tacos were all pretty good and flavorful one thing I want to mention is that most places will have a different verity of tacos, but really they all taste the same or very similar. They really nailed it here with each taco having its on unique taste/flavor. I didn’t order any drinks but some of the people in our party did and they thoroughly enjoyed them.(They were lit) I can’t wait to come back and try the burrito and nachos.

This was an amazing spot for lunch! I will keep it short & sweet: the margaritas are delicious, as are the variety of mezcals(served with sangrita — smoked salt and lime). The queso appetizer is a must — it features corn tortillas and a bowl of melty cheese with housemade chorizo so you make tiny tacos. The tacos we tried were carnitas, al pastor, and smoked chicken. The al pastor is absolutely delicious. You cannot come here and not try that. The carnitas were very tender and moist. The chicken was the least exciting in my book. There’s ample seating even though it’s a tiny space. The wait is not bad even if it looks crowded, and they will text you when your table opens up. Service was quick and friendly. The al pastor, and the little housemade corn tortillas, really make this place. bon appetit!

I’m a big fan of Ponce City Market and looked forward to trying Chef Sean Brock’s first restaurant in Atlanta. Atmosphere: Casual, cool space with high booths and lots of seating on the patio for the warmer months. Much smaller interior than I was expecting, but the booths are large for groups. Service: All of the hostess’ and servers were very friendly and took good care of us. Drinks: The margarita was one of the best I’ve ever had and they have a couple of good local craft beers which was good to see. Food: The menu is tiny and we were disappointed with the portions. The queso fundido tasted great but it was so small for an appetizer and very difficult to share. At $ 9, it’s way overpriced for what it is. The chips and guacamole were decent. The Al Pastor taco was delicious but the size is again laughable. At least the server warned me. It’s hard not to compare this restaurant to Ford Fry’s Superica at Krog Street which is definitely better. Overall: I would come back in spring or summer for drinks on the patio, but would skip the food. I do hope Sean Brock will open another concept like Husk. We’re lucky to have him opening restaurants in Atlanta, but Minero doesn’t do him justice.

Over the last month, I’ve frequented the ponce city market. My boyfriend and I have been excited to try all the restaurants, adding about one each week. I have to say, this one fell short. The bar was high as we love Superica and Bone Garden Cantina. First, on a not so busy Sunday evening we were seated and more than a few minutes later, our server appeared with water. Drinks are pretty hard to order as they don’t have grey goose, crown royal, Jack Daniels, mojitos, or Moscow mules so we ended up with sub par margaritas. The queso fundido was a brick compared to Superica. Next the small tacos at $ 3-$ 5 each were good, but they make Bartaco’s tacos look huge. Order at least 4 to have a chance to conquer an appetite. I ordered the burrito priced at $ 9 and included no meat. It was actually very good and a normal portion for hungry people. We decided that with all the options for authentic Mexican + the ponce city market venue, we wouldn’t be visiting this place again.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. The salsa trio was delicious. I had tacos and they are small but tasty. My wife had the sandwich of the day and it was ridiculously good. Cool spot and great food. I will be back to try more.

During a recent visit to Ponce City Market, my boyfriend and I decided to do a «progressive brunch» so that we could check out a few different options in the Food Hall. The last stop of this brunch was at Minero to get some tacos. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious compared to the other options at PCM, and it also has the patio which is a great option when it’s a little warmer outside. We started with the queso fundido. While good, I was expecting actual queso and chips. This dish was more of a fork and knife option – lots of meat and cheese. Again, it was good but not what I was expecting. My boyfriend ordered the minero burrito, which was HUGE and very good. I ordered the charcoaled chicken taco, which was a great combination of flavors(pickled red onion, mango, etc.). As far as drinks go, I ordered the estrellita, which felt like a very seasonal(winter) option – vodka, hibiscus, cinnamon, lime and mint. It was delicious but not a drink you could have all day. My boyfriend ordered the titan – bourbon, cognac, peach liqueur, agave, citrus and nutmeg. He really enjoyed it but I can’t vouch for it… I stay as far away from bourbon as I can. The food is very reasonably priced and filling, and the service is usually pretty good. One caveat to that – a group of friends and I recently went to Minero during the day for a couple beverages. The service at the bar was painfully slow and the bartenders were not operating with any sense of urgency. One of my friends waited for more than 20 minutes without being served, so she eventually gave up and we left. I’m not sure if the service differs between the tables and the bar, because our table experience was pretty good comparatively.

First off, A+ service. Everyone was super duper nice and friendly. It was pretty dead when I went, plus I had Moose with me, but everyone was still friendly as hell and eager to please. The michelada was meh. Very heavy on the clamato, barely any salt on the rim, not spicy at all, and missing that umami bite that comes from using Maggi or worcestershire. I wouldn’t get this again. Guacamole was awesome, but I’m not a fan of super thick tortilla chips that are served with it. They almost taste stale because of how thick they are. #justsaying Burrito(veggie) is the size of my head. I ate maybe ¼ of it along with some of the guac. It’s all good though because it made for an excellent breakfast the next day. I really love the roasted poblanos in there. So good. I would order this guy again. Bit pricey for quick mex, but solid staff might have me dropping by again when walking the beltline with my pup. I do like that I can eat outside on their patio with Moose.

Minero means«Miner» and I did not get why the called it this, until I read the story on their menu… and had their amazing Charcoal Grilled Chicken Wings– I know one does not correlate to the other, as they were not coal miners… but I digress. I was«Mondayning» therefore stayed with good olé Tecate beer, next time I am diving into a real cocktail. Steak tacos my buenos, and I am anti fried fish but gave their cat fish a whirl, and I likey! You NEED to try this joint. One thing that I was not into is that the corn chips came in a pot holder type thing and they spilled over the table. I am no germphobe and my buddy Dennis, he’s probably less so as he joined me straight out the gym without a shower, but some people my find this ff-putting. The salsas are delicious but they are made to not be shared, unless you are feeding those cute Hamsters that have a the Youtube where they eat tiny foods( )

Visited Minero for the first time and we are definitely going back! Tacos were AMAZING, the al pastor melted in my mouth and the fried catfish taco was fluffy and perfect. Nestled in Ponce City Market, it looks very fancy but the tacos are reasonably priced, and everything we ate was DELICIOUS. The service was prompt, friendly, and informative, and willing to modify menu items to our taste(and warn about spiciness, not really an issue for us, but I still thought it was considerate!) However three things: First there is no kids menu. There was a quesedilla-like thing on the menu called a mula that was basically a quesedilla but with spicy salsa on it, which you can ask to not have on it. The menu itself is limited compared to most Mexican restaurants in the area, although everything is super delicious. Second, sigh the chips and salsa. This wasn’t an issue for me, but for my husband and his friend the chips and salsa were simply too small for the price. When you order, you get three small portions of each of their salsas — all of which are AMAZING, seriously their verde salsa is perhaps the best verde I have ever had, but the serving sizes are very, very tiny. I was unclear about how many chips came in an order, they serve them in kind of a round oven-mitt with paper, which I thought was really cute and clever, but I’m not sure if you get an endless stream of them with an order. Third, a lot of high-top seating indoors, making it hard if you have tots, shorties, or chariot riders with you to dine at. They had a bunch of normal-height tables, and I get that they were trying to create a particular ambience, which they achieve, but it might not be totally practical. We will definitely be back, and overall it was a great experience. A slightly expanded menu and larger salsa portions for the price would make it a five-star experience.

Avoid this establishment, what a disaster, they have no clue how to run a restaurant. Primary menus consists of six variations of tacos and it took one hour for the food to arrive. These are tacos people, how long does it take to prepare, surely not an hour.(More like 10 minutes max regardless of how many people are in the restaurant) It might have been tolerable if you could get a cocktail, but upon sitting down we were informed that due to the walk in bar business it would take 15 – 20 minutes for our drinks. They did get that right, it took 20 minutes, which the drinks were short poured. It amazes me that restaurants rather than buy smaller glasses just short pour larger ones. All this does is give the perception that I’m being cheated. Spoke with the manager and her smug attitude and repeating her favorite phrase, this is not our first rodeo. Indicating she felt nothing could be improved, well this was my first and last time, I recommend you save your money and time by not even doing this circus even once.

As a huge fan of Husk Nashville, I was thrilled to get to try out chef Sean Brock’s newest venue in Atlanta. I headed here earlier this week with a few friends as we were all in the city for a conference. We went at lunch and ended up grabbing seats at the bar to keep from waiting. Generally a good sign. Started off with the salsa tasting. Loved the benne salsa. Great flavor and fun heat. I ordered the carnitas taco and the burrito. The burrito blew me away. Huge. Great complementing flavors Check out Minero when you can.

Walked over to Ponce City Market from midtown via the Eastside trail of the Atlanta BeltLine to meet friends for dinner at Minero’s. It’s great to have part of the BeltLine so close to home. PCM is a bustling place in the evening, even on a chilly Tuesday in November. We were seated immediately on arrival, and most of the other tables were full and the bar area was packed. Service was generally good and mostly efficient, although we did have to wait a bit for our drink order to arrive.(The chips and guacamole beat the cocktails to the table, even though they were ordered about ten minutes later. Like I said, the bar was hopping, so be prepared if that’s the case.) Cocktails were delicious. I enjoyed both the margarita and the Mr. Niebla, which has a nice, smoky kick from Mezcal. The chips and guacamole were tasty too, the chips fresh from the oven and kept warm with a cute little chip cozy. The queso fundido is highly recommended. Gooey and filled with spicy chorizo, you’ll want to use the spoon provided to scoop out a generous portion to roll into the warm corn tortillas provided, also with a little warmer pouch. It’s a little precious, but does a good job keeping the chips and tortillas warm. Tacos were a hit all around, from the carnitas to the smoked chicken and the steak, which were all rated higher than the al pastor. They’re on the small side, so two to three per person seems like the right amount to order, although I was full with just one, after the queso and the guac. Sides of rice and beans looked promising, but alas, the rice was a little too spicy for my tastes. If you like heat, you’ll love the rice. Beans were rich and flavorful, and I brought the leftovers home to have with eggs for breakfast. One of our party ordered the Torta del Dio, which is a fairly large Mexican style sandwich, filled with the fixings from the steak tacos. It looked a little messy to eat, but I was assured it was quite tasty. Most of the menu items are gluten free, with the exception of the Burrito and the Torta. Be sure to check with the staff and your server for recommendations and to let them know about your allergies. Overall, our group had a fine time on our first trip to Minero’s. It’s on the casual side, and sharing is encouraged. Prices, however, are on the upscale side of things, so be prepared to spend $ 30−35/person with cocktails, a bit less if you’re a teetotaler. I’m looking forward to trying the chilaquiles and the salsa sampler on my next excursion.

I am very glad that I gave this place a try. While I can see it being a little pricey, it is definitely an interesting experience. My friend and I ordered various tacos and a side of rice. Each one really stood out, with a nice blend of flavors. For instance, I have never had lime pickled onions on a taco before(maybe I just need to get out more!). I loved the little kick to the rice too. I usually don’t comment on things like this, but I the texture of their bowls, plates, etc was just great. The wood block that you insert your credit card/cash into(that also holds the receipt) was a nice touch, which you don’t see in a lot of places. And…they have Mexican Coke! The restaurant seems popular, so don’t be surprised if you have to wait a little to get your food, but it’s worth it!

We popped into Minero in the new Ponce City Market after it had only been open two days. The space is slick and well designed and shortly after we arrived it was bustling with energy. Shaun was our waitress and she was terrific — friendly, well-trained and patient in answering our questions about menu items and ingredients. What is Valentina, explain the Chilaquiles, what is benne salsa, is it spicy? This isn’t a menu that really offers entrees. Think of it more along the line of tapas or family style that you share, although the Minero Burrito, Chilaquiles, Grilled Chicken Wings and Queso Fundido could be enjoyed by oneself. The tacos are a flat 4″ disc made in house and are well crafted with interesting flavor combinations, several of which use pickled ingredients like red onion and green tomato. There are also three side items and a single dessert of churros with Mexican chocolate sauce. If you like knowing where your food is sourced, you’ll love the story on the back of the menu about where they get their corn to make tacos and tortillas. For now 3 stars will have to do but it’s really closer to 3 ½ stars. Overall, the food was good, but it’s too early to say if it’s memorable without repeat visits. My first impression was that portions were small for the price and you could leave hungry. Our bill was just north of $ 40 for three of us. We each had three items, plus shared a chips and salsa with water to drink since Minero was still waiting on their liquor license. However, a peek at a drink menu promises a nice program of cocktails and margaritas when it arrives.

This place is ok. The food is good enough, but very greasy and with lots of cheese and oil. The dishes are not traditional Mexican cuisine by any means; rather, it’s Neo-Mexican-American fare for the hipster palette. The chips and salsa were«mas o menos» meaning«so so.» The salsa,(three different types) were quite tasty, but the chips were a bit too fried(maybe they were double fried, or triple fried, or fried in old grease), they were hard and crunchy and with a slight burnt taste). The Mula is good(if you are not lactose intolerant and you don’t mind dripping oil), it’s like a mini quesadilla with sweet potatoes and mushrooms(but drenched in oily cheese). I asked for mine without cheese, and I thought it was a joke when it came with EXTRA cheese. My mother-in-law ate it, and loved it, though she didn’t really like the burrito she ordered. I tried her burrito and thought it was just ok. The ingredients tasted fresh, the beans were fresh, the queso fresco, but it too was greasy and dripping with oil and butter. It was good-enough, but it wasn’t life-changing, or worth the 20 minute wait for a table. The one good thing about the food here is that it tasted fresh. It does feel like they use fresh, clean ingredients. Our server was nice enough, but she seemed overwhelmed, or annoyed, or something. Our food came out in a timely manner. There aren’t very good vegetarian options except for the Burrito and the Mula. We got a side of the pickles and it literally was a side of the most basic picked vegetables that come(FORFREE) at any other Mexican restaurant; however at Minero, a tiny plate of pickled veggies(most of which are jalapeños) is $ 3. The food is overpriced and overrated. Guisados and Tinga have some of the best tacos I’ve tasted, both Los Angeles establishments with authentic Mexican cuisine, at $ 2-$ 3 a taco at Guisados(fresh corn tortillas made right in front of your face), a million vegetarian options and the best fish tacos I’ve ever tasted, makes all other Mexican restaurants have a lot to live up to. Minero does not live up to authentic Mexican cuisine, it is just another hype spot at the PCM mall like many of the other tourist traps here. The ginger beer(actual beer with a hint of ginger), was the most memorable part of our meal(but this beer– brewed right here in Atlanta, can likely be bought at liquor stores and markets all over the city)! Minero also sells«Mexican Cola» meaning it’s served in a glass bottle(an excuse for no refills), and made with«actual sugar» versus corn syrup(that’s how they market it); and they have Jarritos, a cheap Mexican soda brand(sugar bombs) that is really trying to establish itself in the US. They don’t have a bathroom; they share the bathroom with all the other PCM restaurants and stores. The environment is cool enough. Though convenient– right downstairs from our apartment in The Flats– I don’t think we’ll be eating here again, or at least – not anytime soon.

We bellied up to the bar and had several cocktails — the El Espectro was our favorite — it is dangerously good! The chips and salsa are really amazing — you get 3 mini bowls of different types — all terrific! The guac is so fresh — just as you would expect! The tacos are like street tacos — small and full of flavor — we had the Al Pastor, charcoaled chicken, carnitas, and fried catfish– All were really tasty and great to share! We also ordered the torta of the day and the burrito to go for the next day! We also had the chilaquiles which was very tasty — the other cocktails we had were the Mr Niebla and the Titan — liked them both BUT had to go back to the El Espectro! Yes we are like this was our last meal on earth but it was hard to stop! The staff is super friendly and makes you want to just hang out! We will be back and bring some friends!
