It’s really refreshing to have fantastic service in the city. Our waitress was friendly, prompt, and regularly checked in on us. My husband had the chicken soup and I had the Acapulco cheese steak; both were fantastic! I also ordered a house margarita and LOVED that it was with lime juice rather than sour mix. The only near miss I’d mention was the queso; it was a little bland and not super hot.

Everything I’ve tried here has been amazing! Enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, burritos you name it… its been awesome! This place has great food. Drinks are great too. They have organic and natural margaritas(no mixes!) that taste great. I love the infused margaritas(the hibiscus and spicy pineapple are great)!!! The service is wonderful. Jaime takes care of me every time. I am a regular here and will be coming back again and again!

Bringing another Mexican restaurant to West Midtown is brave… we’ve got great ones coming out of our ears which is why it took so long for me to try Monterrey~ but I’m glad I did. For starters, they have Dos Equis Amber on draft which is a must. It’s cold, it’s good. Next, the real test for me is the salsa, it was fresh, tasty and came with the nice, thin tortilla chips that(only some) Mexican joints get right. As for the meal, I have two words: CHORIZOTACO. I *do* have a mild chorizo addiction so I’m partial but the taco trio(chorizo, carnitas, asada) was delish… well seasoned meat, nice fresh corn tortillas, onion, cilantro and a salsa verde to top. We stopped there but I definitely plan to go back. It hit all the marks for me and the board of nightly food and drink specials will be calling my name. Give it a try, this place needs to stay in business and continue to serve up deliciousness.

I’m so thrilled Monterrey has joined the west side! It’s fresh, doesn’t just feel like greasy spoon Mexican food, the staff is friendly and the margaritas are delicious! Monterrey takes tequila seriously and always has special margaritas that are made with interesting, sometimes fruit-infused tequilas(read: try the pineapple margarita). I love the enchiladas suizas. I love this place.

Awesome drinks, just ok food, friendly & attentive staff. They have delicious organic margaritas that are made with real lime juice vs. the too-tangy mix that most places add. They need a real make over on the food and prices though. There were 4 of us at our table and we all thought our food(enchiladas & burritos) was barely average. The only food we did like was the queso. Prices were a bit on the high side for what we got. If nothing else, go for the drinks, chips, and queso.

I love this hip version of my favorite Smyrna Mexican restaurant. I ordered the infused margarita, so good! Loved the bartender. Shrimp Quesadilla was delicious.

A friend and I got some expensive beers here, and on the tab they charged us for chips and salsa… What??? Never told us or anything. Waiter told us only the first chips and salsa is free, and then $ 3 for each one after that. Come on! Atleast let us know if something is going to be charged after being served freely. It’s not even on the menu as an item! We argued the point a bit but he was very insistent and we politely paid. Bleh! Also it’s kind of weird when the hispanic staff are wearing shirts with«Illegal» in written in bold across them. Got a lot of weird vibes and awful service, I expect this is my last of two times coming here.

I wouldn’t recommend this place… Too many other better options in the surrounding area. For instance, Bone Garden is half a mile away and is awesome. I don’t understand the 5 star reviews, take your money elsewhere so you aren’t disappointed. All of the food was bland, no spice or flavor. Also, my enchiladas were watered down and the burro Mexicano burrito tasted like I got a burrito from Taco Bell & added shrimp to it. The shrimp were large & flavorful, though. Points there.

Free salsa and chips with the meal(why is that so hard to find in Atlanta?!) — but anyways, awesome salsa! Just enough kick to it. The chips are also great. Friendly service. I’ve always felt very welcome coming into Monterrey. The staff really know how to wow your dinner experience. I can’t really speak much for food since I usually get the same thing when I come in, but so far it is great! Taco Tuesdays are $ 2 tacos and they make the tacos with corn tortillas, which I don’t know about you but makes hell of a difference for me. The Mexican sausage taco, in particular, is heavenly. Their tamales and beans are melt-in-your-mouth good. Can’t wait to stop by their Mex brunch buffet on Sundays from noon-5pm for 14 bucks! I’d give them a try over Bone Garden if you’re in the area.

My husband and I went to the Sunday buffet today.(Not breakfast buffet but a lunch one). It was fantastic, We we were both so pleasantly surprised — it felt a cut above other Monterrey restaurants. Amazing food with a real authentic, even homemade taste, and items you don’t always see at a standard Mexican place along with a friendly and attentive staff — couldn’t ask for more. The live band was great too. We will be back very soon!

Had the following Beef enchilada: basic ground beef, red sauce, cheese sauce(not fresh shredded) Pork crunchy taco: flavorless & lame. Chili Relleno: no chili pepper to speak of, cold in the center I’m shocked by the 5 star reviews from the Unilocal elite. Nice atmosphere, but this is C– basic Mexican food. Unless you are close enough to walk, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

I don’t usually give a 5 for the first visit, but for this experience(and because they seem to have their formula down pat), it’s a 5. Salsa and chips — great salsa. Just the right amount of heat. Margaritas — plenty to choose from but I had the serrano — perfect. Up there with the jalapeño cocktail at Bar Taco. Yep. Menu selection — enough of the standards but plenty within shrimp, steak or chicken to be interesting. I had something that I knew would be a simple, easy approach but was curious to see how they could make the flavors stand on their own without sauce, cheese, sour cream. I ordered the camarones a la mexicana. Just shrimp, pico di gallo, lettuce, jalapeño, and spices. Fantastic. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, plenty of them and they were large. Not extra large but a good size. Really nice seasoning. Along with mixing everything else together with the rice and some corn tortillas, very satisfying. My friend had a veggie burrito and it disappeared in about 2 minutes. Definitely will return and we both hope that they start having more events(there were two grills on the patio…)!

I was a regular at La Urbana and I was worried when they shut down but now I couldn’t be happier! Monterrey is wonderful. The staff and food are both amazing. I enjoy coming here at least once a week and they have so many delicious dishes — some of them are the same as La Urbana! I also like how they have recently started offering a lunch menu. The infused margaritas are AMAZING! They are the best margaritas in town. My favorite one is the strawberry :) Again — Love this place and it is perfect for this growing part of town!

The food was pretty good. I went on taco tuesday so all of my tacos were $ 2. I had the shrimp taco and the steak taco. Both were pretty delish but the shrimp taco was the best. I also had the Monterrey margarita as well. It was strong and yummy. I would have given this place 5 stars, but my waiter forgot my beans and rice, and by the time we got his attention, my tacos were kinda cold. This place has been open for like three months and is trying to find its groove, but from what I experienced, it’s worth every penny. So go!

Monterrey just opened at Apex West Midtown and it is a welcome addition! The wait staff is very friendly and attentive, especially Arturo at the bar. The prices are very reasonable in the $ 10-$ 15 range. They give out free chips and salsa which is always nice. The restaurant has a nice urban casual vibe with TV’s to show soccer games or other sports. They also have a $ 2 taco special on Tuesdays with $ 2 shots of Tecate. Their FB page lists their other specials and promotions I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas and they were great! The tomatillo cream sauce was amazing. The food came out quickly and was well prepared. I will definitely order it again.

I am glad to experience this new addition to West Midtown. This makes two great restaurants in one block. I ate dinner here tonight with a group of girlfriends. I did not even realize they were open! I noticed it was preparing to open several weeks ago. We actually planned to eat BBQ next door. I am glad we ended up here. I was impressed with their service from the start. The staff is very friendly and quickly set up a large table for us. We were so busy talking we didn’t notice the table was ready and the server politely let us know it was ready whenever wanted to sit down. They have specials several days a week and great lunch specials. I learned this from the manager Jamie who stopped by our table a few times to ensure we were doing well. He told us about their different specials. Tonight was a beer for $ 4(I think… I don’t drink beer) and $ 2 tacos. I ordered a steak taco and a chorizo taco with a side of rice and pico de gio. The tacos were really good. The food it authentic and fresh. I really liked how well the meat was seasoned /marinated. The best part was the Hibiscus infusion margarita! It was tasty. The strawberry infusion margarita looked tasty. I am happy to have this new addition in the neighborhood. I will go back soon!

Jaime is an excellent bartender. He’s attentive, social, and makes a well balanced marg. The food is tasty as well – the sopa de pollo and chicken tinga tacos(which are offered by request) are among my faves. This my second time back – definitely won’t be the last.

Arturo is awesome, he’s the one of the friendliest bar tenders in west midtown. His Jamaica and tamarind Margaritas are the bomb. Make sure you order the molcajete! Love the service here.

They finally opened! We were greeted and seated immediately. Complimentary chips and salsa, which was good. The food was tasty, fast and fresh. The steak a la Mexicana was delicioso, more like a personal fajita dish. The steak ranchero was tasty tambien; the red sauce on it was good. The house margaritas were very good, fresh and crisp, went down smoothly. Good pricing, great service. The décor hasn’t changed much from La Urbana and they still have the nice patio area.
