4.5 Stars. A great, great place to get a sandwich. I’ve actually only had 2 things in over 30 visits. I get the New Yorker Rueben every single time. My girl gets the Greek Salad every single time. Both are spectacular MUSTTRYS. The guy running the place is a nice, and I’ve received three sandwiches for free due to their frequent sandwich program. The New Yorker is a serious rueben.

The Reuben here is excellent! Eat a reuben and take the in-house roast beef home for sandwiches. An excellent place to pick up an affordable and delicious lunch. This is a true delicatessen ran by some real New Yorkers.

Im deffinately a fan! Almost a whole in the wall with its plastic tables and chairs, ammusingly decorated walls with old license plates, too many viewing refrigerators with too little good food. One damn good sandwich! I ate the cubano with grilled pork tenderloin, salami, swiss cheese and mojo sauce. I love hot sandwiches and maybe today being a hot day it could have been a bad decision. Deffintely not. The sandwich was really good and I will be back for more. The awards on the wall seem well deserved. This is a must have sandwich lunch place. I will probably be a regular to this place.

I can’t believe I haven’t written about NYMD before. Not so much because I go there all the time but because it’s just such an Atlanta institution. And, what do you know, it is next door to The Boy’s new place! How better to kick off moving day and our first lunch-in-the-new-place than by getting big tasty sandwiches from this very spot? Exactly! He got the Big A** Roast Beef(yes, that really is what they call it) and it was, well, exactly that. Tasty, huge, and to his liking with horseradish mayo instead of Russian dressing. I got Charley’s chicken club; the only thing I’d do differently next time is not get the honey mustard on it because it’s that really«grainy» and truly«mustardy» kind of which I happen not to be a big fan. Add a couple bags of Zapps and our mid-move break was quite a success. They have a substantial menu of hot and cold sammies, build-your-own, to-go/deli selections, fish and more, and are open Saturdays. So far, so good on my liking his new ‘hood. Yay!

I believe the word I’m looking for here is … NOM! Dang that was a good sandwich. I’ve had a personal goal lately to try someplace new to eat in the ATL once a week for lunch. Having had a disappointing sandwich outing last week … I felt cheated out of my sandwich love and wanted to make up for it. Luckily this place didn’t lead me wrong. It’s a hole. Matter of fact, it’s an AMUSING hole. Situated right next to a lingerie store in the shopping center, the juxtaposition of the two shops is almost tangible. One a light, clean and airy; the other dark, dingy and dirty. I mean, heck, the inside of the sandwich shop made me think that if they don’t mind their customers coming into the place with it looking like it does then I shouldn’t mind people coming into my living room if I haven’t straightened up yet. So … if you’re a little on the phobic side about hygiene, maybe you should avoid it. But if you’re like me and you just really wanna eat good food, this is the place. The staff is friendly, but business-like. The fried-bologna sandwich I ordered was a-m-azing. That bologna was so crisp it was almost baconlike … but there was so MUCH of it that it was able to have a crisp outside and softer inside. Fabulous. I’m happy to have found a good sandwich place that is simply just what it is.

Went today — definitely very New York like in terms of the people working there, who were friendly, but got down to business. Definitely reminds me of New Yorkers. I ended up getting the New York style reuben, minus the sauerkraut. This is a sandwich stuffed with pastrami, corned beef, swiss cheese, and russian style dressing, in between two slices of well toasted rye. Pretty good sandwich and prices are decent at $ 8. Definitely one of the better places in Atlanta for a deli-style sandwich. I would like to see some beef brisket on the menu. In terms of dining inside, the chairs are like lawn chairs and pretty grimey. However, the food is good and you aren’t coming here for a fine-dining experience anyways. Good stuff.

win.win.win. I know somebody who walked 4 miles in the hot Atlanta sun for some New Yorker’s sandwiches. And then. that same person went back the next day for MORE. No. that person wasn’ t me… but I would probably do the same. Ok so the place looks more like a butcher shop/corner grocery that someone«decorated» with some plastic lawn chairs, but that’s how you know it’s freakin good. No frills needed, yet they keep the customers coming. My NY Deli-addicted friend loves the Turkey Rachel. Which you know MUST be good, to want to actually WALK in Atlanta(crazy). My other friend got some sort of non-hot sandwich, that had pepperoni and such in it. Which was pretty good. But I prefer my toasted sandwiches… Which brings me to the FANTASTIC Reuben I always order. I love seasoned meat, stuff like pastrami, salami, pepperoni… so this is the crack spot for me. LOVE the Reuben, creamy russian dressing that leaks out of the sandwich because you have to squeeze the sandwich to fit it in your mouth because there’s so many layers of amazingly moist, thinly sliced and seasoned meat stuffed between that deliciously toasted bread.(I pass on the sauerkraut) Oh yeah, and then there’s that crispy refreshing pickle. Yeah. Go now. Walk if you have to. Just get there and stuff your face. Your taste buds will thank you. And. yeah I know, you’re welcome, for letting you in on it.

This is it! Sure it’s a hole in the wall but don’t let the looks deceive you. The quality and the portion you get are enough for two. I have never been disappointed with a visit here. I have been patronizing this eatery for 10 years ever since they opened. Some of my favorites are — Al’s Big Ass Roast Beef — Thinly sliced, rare roast beef, swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato served on a kaiser roll with Russian dressing Turkey Meatloaf — Our own famous meatloaf with lettuce, tomato, American cheese and sauteed onions, served on toasted rye with ketchup Real Reuben — Lean sliced corned beef, sauerkraut and swiss cheese served hot on toasted rye with russian dressing New Yorker Reuben — Lean corned beef, pastrami, sauerkraut and swiss cheese served hot on toasted rye with russian dressing and spicy mustard Turkey Reuben — Thinly sliced turkey breast, sauerkraut and swiss cheese served hot on toasted rye with russian dressing Wee Willy — Lean roast beef, provolone, sauteed spinach and onions, served on a fresh kaiser roll with horseradish mayonnaise. Plus they always have a special or 2. In these sandwiches, you get some real substance: MEAT. The sandwiches are prepared to order and brought to you by a server. For sides, I always pick up the tomato — cucumber salad. It’s freshly made and it has an marinating effect on the veggies. The vinaigrette dressing isn’t overwhelming either. If you truly want the treat of a fantastic sandwich, you owe it to yourself to visit this place.

This is one of the very few deli’s in Atlanta that feels and acts like a NYC deli. When I hear people praise Jason’s Deli(the Olive Garden of delis), I cringe. New Yorker is the real deal. I’ve eaten here many times but never got around to reviewing it. My favorite is the create your own sammy board, and the other day I decided on some fresh moz and prosciutto on a toasted Italian hero with some vinaigrette. Very simple, and perfect. A nice sized sammy loaded with moz and prosciutto, and their vinaigrette added some zing. The prosciutto had a nice saltiness to it. My only complaints would be the cases are pretty sparse on product, and the deli is sparse on seating for lunch. Staff is great and they know how to make a sammy right!

I got a good laugh from the Zagat ratings posted on the wall inside(please correct me if i’m wrong). Food: 23 Ambiance: 6 That told me everything I needed to know, that I was going to get a good sandwich here. The people here are very friendly and the food is great. While waiting I watched as they pulled a pan of roast beef out of the oven. Upon my comment of how good it looked, a guy offered to slice a piece for me try it. I did and it was just a sample of what my fiancé called«One of the best Roast Beef Sandwiches I’ve ever had.» Tender, flavorful, and filling it was. The NY Reuben was my choice and loaded with a ton of sauerkraut and sliced meat. Everything I came to expect given the good reviews of this place already. There are about 15 seats in the whole place and only 3 tables. It is a deli after all, so I’m not expecting much service either. Bathroom’s in the back through the kitchen, just ask and they’ll point it out.

The flavors of its sandwiches are way better than Jason’s Deli, Quiznos, Subway, and Firehouse Subs. These hot sandwiches are made with fresh vegetables, freshly sliced deli meat and cheeses. The portion is huge. It can get messy. But it’s delicious and filling. Its décor resembles that of a mom-and-pop grocery store, but you can always do take-out.

As a New York transplant living in Atl, I am on a constant search for those who know what a «kaiser roll» is and what«lean corn-beef» means. Found it! I had their«Turkey Rachel» because that’s my name! Apparently tho, I was the forth person in a row to order it. Yummy cole slaw and good rye bread. They also have a butcher shop and fish store in there if you want to buy some new york strip steak to cook later. Recommend for their true New York style sandwiches

Absolutely fantastic. I used to live across the street from the deli and would walk down at least once a week for a sandwich. Absolutely one of the best Cuban sandwiches in Atlanta, and the times square tenderloin, aka, the best sandwich in Atlanta is great too. They always have fresh meats, and salads as well. I went here for lunch for my birthday today with some coworkers and was reminded just how much I missed living across the street. I will be back more frequently!

All Deli’s should be like the New Yorker. The sandwiches are stellar, prepared food in the glass case has yet to disappoint, and you can buy some premium cuts for back home. The service is quick and friendly. If you are sick of eating the same damn sandwich everyday for lunch, do yourself a favor and stop in to this Deli to inject some quality into your life.

I’ve only been here once so I will reserve the 5th star for later. But for a first visit, I was pretty impressed. The gf and I split a NY’er Reuben and a Jamaican Jerk Tuna BLT, with macaroni salad and potato salad on the side. Some places tend to overdo the sauerkraut, but my sandwich had the right balance of all the ingredients, it was very good. However, the Swiss cheese that they used is a bit too sharp for my taste. The gf’s Tuna BLT was very interesting. It was just a tuna steak with jerk seasoning plus a BLT mixed in and the flavors worked. Not as salty as I thought it would be. Our sides were pretty good too. The space IS small so I would definitely recommend just taking the food to go. In my time here in Atlanta, I have been fooled into eating at places with«New York» in their name, but this is truly the first time I felt like I was back in NYC. This place definitely could rival any deli in the 5 boroughs.

Apparently I’ve been living less than a block away from here for almost 3 years and until today had never eaten here. My discovery actually came by accident while I was walking to take MARTA early Monday morning. Rami called me today and we made plans to have lunch. Originally he said he wanted a salad and that changed to a turkey on rye. I couldn’t think of a more perfect place than a New York style deli and we made our way over here right before the lunch rush. Walking in is seriously just like stepping into a Manhattan deli. The counters are set-up with fresh gourmet foods like lamb, pork, and chicken(that’s in addition to other staples such as potato salad and cole slaw). I was sold on the daily special and Rami was able to custom build a turkey on rye. Everything was served up pretty quickly and soon I was sinking my teeth into a hot, fresh chili marinated steak and cheese sub. Yum, yum, yum!

Im gonna have to agree with what Lauren said about this place. It’s great! I’ve only been in Atlanta for almost a year now, but ive struggled to find a good sandwich place that reasonably priced and fills you up as well. The New Yorker Deli is a good spot to go grab a sandwich and it really does feel like you are in NYC. Since I have been there ive only tried one sandwich that I would recommend to anyone, the Turkey Rachel. Go and check it out. Its nothing special but it is unique in its own way and they have some great choices for sandwiches.
