Favorite Chinese spot by far. I drive here weekly from Cherokee County. Good, delicious quality Chinese food is very difficult to find. I have frequented this place for years. The service is great, and the food is fantastic!. The lunch specials come with soup or salad and spring rolls. The sushi is fresh and tasty. My favorite roll is the seafood tempura roll. I love the egg foo young, general tso shrimp and chicken dishes, chicken fried rice, spring rolls and hot and sour soup. Their hibachi is the best in the city. It’s a little pricy but soooooo worth it!

Based on our experience tonight, all the negative reviews about the service are untrue. Couldn’t be better. Best Chinese food we’ve had. The patio is one of the nicest in Atlanta.

This is my 2nd time dining at the Orient Express & the atmosphere is casual with great food. The tangerine chicken is my fave so far & the plum wine is very sweet… which I enjoy. The wait staff stays in a constant motion & the food is prepared quickly. I would return again.

Great Food… BUTSOMETIMEYSERVICEI have been coming here for a long time. Always have excellent food but the customer service depending on who is answering phones and/who is serving you is not the best! We all know customer service can kill an establishment. I take out a lot, if I did not know how good the food was I would not come. So don’t be offended just let management know or write a review like me! :)

This place is sooooo creative. It’s a train with 3 stops. Regular Chinese dinning, sushi(my personal favorite), and hibachi(my son’s favorite). The place is always clean. The food is really good. Authentic sushi not watered down Americanized sushi!!! I also like the fish pond and the dining sun area. The service is fast. Another favorite family restaurant of my family.

One of the best teppanyaki restaurants I have been to. Great, rather unique atmosphere, great service, skilled chef and most importantly, fabulous food. I selected the lobster shrimp combo. I guess, it would be hard to fail preparing such two seafood ingredients, but trust me, i have experienced it. There was so much food with the delicious soup, rice, vegetables and above mentioned seafood that I unfortunately finished it all. It was unfortunate, because I was never able to try the dessert. Oh well, next time!

I thought nakato was the best hibachi in Atlanta until I went here! The food tasted the same however the ambiance is much nicer. Impressive large menu! It’s slightly pricey but, that’s expected. I will definitely be back for a special occasion. Recommended for a group! I loved the chicken and we enjoyed leftovers the next night.

Great food. So different than all the other hibachi places. I also really enjoy the Chinese. Biggest gripe that had me knocking them down two stars was the service. While everyone is friendly and fun, in the hibachi area all plates were cleared far too quick. I felt as I was being rushed to leave which isn’t a good feeling considering we had a party of 10+. Advice to management tell your servers to relax a little before clearing played once hibachi is complete. It would go a long way. I will keep coming, but may not do hibachi anymore.

Great food, poor service! Upon arriving we waiting by the hostess stand for about 8 minutes before anyone came to seat us. Once we got a table we waiting another 10 before getting drinks. The place was only about half full so I’m not sure what the hold up was. The sushi however was fantastic! And it’s a great atmosphere. Just don’t expect anyone to be in a hurry. Update* After getting home we realized our card was charged twice for the meal… not sure how that happened.

Orient Express is a fun casual Asian restaurant in Vinings. My husband and I visit a few times a month when I am craving one of their sushi rolls. The waiters/waitresses know us by name. The service is excellent, we usually have multiple people help serve our table. Good comes out hot and quickly upon ordering. The restaurant recently underwent a renovation, and I believe it has significantly improved the ambiance. We usually sit in the Chinese section near the sushi bar. It’s quiet, intimate and perfect for date night. My favorite rolls are the Godzilla, Mega, & Vegas. The ginger salad is hearty and delicious. My husband swoons over the Hunan chicken, which comes with a large bowl of white rice. One star off for the poor alcohol selection. The wine list is weak, but the corkage fee keeps me from bringing in my own favorite bottle. Some tasty signature cocktails and better wine list would set this place apart. However, it’s not enough to keep me away for my bi monthly visits. Keep it up orient express!

A group of 7 of us were staying at the Hotel Indigo and walked down here for dinner. We sat in the sushi room. Usually I like to get Sashimi, but they only had a Sashimi deluxe option for $ 40 which seemed like way too much. Where’s the Sashimi regular for $ 25? Ended up getting General Tso Chicken because I had just watched the documentary Finding General Tso and I wanted to pay my respects to this pioneering dish. It didn’t disappoint and it was crunchy and sweet with the touch of heat you expect from the General. There’s a reason this dish has endured. I was impressed that they brought out the Japanese and Chinese food at the same time, since a lot of these types of places will bring out things from one kitchen much too early. The sushi rolls looked good and everyone enjoyed their meal. The only thing was they don’t have a great beer selection, other than the standard Japanese brews. I left feeling way too full, but that’s a product of eating Chinese food in general. Nice callback.

I was recently here for a friends birthday party and the service was the worst that Ive ever had. They were rushing us out of the door immediately as we got there, standing over us at the table and trying to hurry us out as if they did not want our business. I also felt uncomfortable with racially insensitive comments that the hostess was making regarding our party. We are all professionals with various advanced degrees and I didn’t appreciate the lack of respect and class they showed our group. I would recommend that no one ever visit this establishment as there are better sushi restaurants with far superior service nearby.

Excellent excellent excellent wonderful staff. My hibachi chef gave my rice to another person who politely gave it to me… that grinded my gears. Would’ve gotten 5 stars if not for that. I would’ve liked a whole new bowl of rice but didn’t wanna be difficult. Chef said«sorry I forgot my meds» which I didn’t find funny but then a waitress said the same thing lol at that point I was well ok. Other then that everything was amazing some of the largest scallops I have EVER seen. Check them out I did.

I love this place. Been coming here for years now and I find this to be among two favorites for Chinese Food in the Atlanta area. It’s a very quaint and a gem of a find in the Vining’s. The food is delicious and always consistent. The ambiance is serene and cozy. The box car is converted into a dining experience where the designer has captured the essence of luxury. The bar installed at the end of the car has a feel of a saloon from the Wild West. The dining connection is a hibachi style Japanese sushi grill with the full experience of both cultures. Come see for yourself! Just a note, total your bills correctly. I ran through mine and saw that the waiter left off my Heineken beer so I had him rerun the total to reflect my beer purchase. All for under 22.00bucks! Still a great deal!

There is a lack of Chinese food in Northwest Buckhead. I was skeptical because they are advertised as hibachi /Japanese /Chinese. Now that is too many cuisines and usually means they can’t do one right. However, I decided to give the Chinese food a chance. The food is surprisingly not salty and very tasty. I walked in during a very busy Sunday dinner service, placed my order, and within 10 minutes my food was ready. My only complaints is the food is pricy during dinner. The lunch menu looked good and I am willing to go try out the lunch. Overall, I’m glad to have found a Chinese place nearby without trekking out to Buford Hwy.

Another great night here. It was not too busy, staff super friendly and accommodating. The food was very tasty. I always start with egg drop soup, best in town. Then ordered the Choo Choo tray. Amazing! It had fried chicken wings, delicious crab and cheese stuffed wontons, juicy riblets, shrimp tempura, and potstickers. Must try. I had the shrimp egg foo yung with brown rice for my entrée. Two huge fluffy egg cakes filled with shrimp and veggies smothered in a brown gravy. Can’t wait to come back and try something new.

I have wanted to try this restaurant for years. So glad we finally did ! The restaurant is in cute train cars with 3 separate areas; Chinese, Sushi, Hibachi. I enjoyed watching the trains go by as we ate. Service was courteous and fast. We were in the mood for American-Chinese food so we had a Tempura Shrimp Roll, Mongolian Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice. It was all really good. ~ I will definately go back ~

I’ve been coming here for a few years now. Some of the best Chinese food in the area. I feel like I’m cheating if I eat anywhere else like chin chin or budda. I’ve been here so many time I don’t even order they know what me and my daughter are going to get since we always order the sesame chicken and egg rolls. Yummy!!!

I say 4 stars b/c it’s super close to my office, parking is ok, and… it’s a cute train to eat in! It’s literally next door to the railroad. … I also can only rate the Japanese side of the restaurant. When you walk in, you’ll see 2 sides: Chinese & Japanese. The Chinese side looks normal and ok. I feel like the Japanese side is more fun and & cool to eat in. It looks more formal too.(not crazy formal, but a bit more business-y) Parking — I come here usually around 11:45AM on days I feel like coming. Right before Lunch hour. The lot is not THAT big nor THAT small… not too bad. There are other restaurants very close by so you can always park in their lots IF Orient Express’s lot is full. Space — this place is huge. Like… wow. I thought it was small, but nope — it’s fairly big. Definitely good place to go if it’s lunch hour. They could probably seat you if you’re at the peak hour. Service is nice. I’ve never had a problem with it. :D Some of my co workers have had the Chinese food here and it was mediocre. Kind of greasy and meh. I think my consultants I grab lunch with sometimes have said the same thing. Portions are generous, but eh. Quality is not the main goal here. I usually get the Chicken Teriyaki box here. I like it. I get good portions of the Chicken, Rice, Salad, and some slices of Sushi. OH and I get fried dumplings! So awesome. This is the 1st time I’ve gotten a Bento Box that includes fried dumplings. The Bento Box also comes with Miso Soup. Since my office is 6 mins away, I come here every 2 – 3 weeks. I’m sometimes just too lazy to drive to Dunwoody. So yep — go try the Japanese side of the train.

For many years I have driven by orient express but never had a chance to stop by. we went today around 5pm. Food was great the Lucky roll is very good but expensive $ 17.99 which to me is very expensive for 1 roll but We decided to give it a try… The roll is great But I still think it’s expensive.

While I was still living in Vinings, I became an awkward regular at Orient Express. The novelty of the box car originally drew me in, but, eventually, it stuck for the convenient sushi fix that was only a few minutes away, and, well, that it simply wasn’t half-bad. Orient Express is indeed located within a train box car shell and has the options of Chinese, hibachi, or a sushi bar for your dining experience. As I’ve never been much a fan of hibachi, and I leave the Chinese food for take out, we did, however, help ourselves to the sushi bar far too much. After looking over some of the other Unilocaler’s thoughts and sum-ups, I’d guess I wasn’t missing too much by skipping the hibachi and the Chinese and chowing down only on the sushi myself. I wasn’t ever expecting anything traditionally Japanese, and my expectations for the most part were average on our first few visits, but the consistency and quality of the sushi definitely kept bringing us back. I normally get unagi and unagi related maki, but I really enjoy their rainbow roll and several other non-gimmicky rolls. That said, a majority of their menu is flamboyant and full of trendy, specialty maki. I’ve never really gotten anything simple from this place, but they do well with what rolls and options they advertise. The place feels a tad overpriced though, for things like rice bowls, but they can be semi-elaborate. Despite being a box car, you don’t really feel like you’re inside one except at the entrance. Though the ambiance makes great date night atmosphere, and it’s normally never very crowded, at least in the sushi area. My suggestion is to possibly try the sushi first, and if you like that, try the other sections too, but I’d definitely give them a go on their sushi.
