Planet Ballroom

When my boyfriend and I started our lessons here in August, we had absolutely no knowledge of ballroom dancing. We originally planned just to do a 6-​class intro package so we could learn a few steps. 4 months later, we are in the studio several days a week with the group lessons, Dance After Dark, and our personal lessons. All the instructors are great: Terry makes everything fun and has such a breadth of knowledge, Justin makes even complicated steps approachable, and the manager/​owner Gerry is awesome! Getting to dance here is a real pleasure, and I am so happy that we decided to do something a little uncomfortable/​different and give it a try!

My boyfriend purchased the Groupon deal as an anniversary gift. He was not looking forward to the lessons and I practically had to drag him, but now at the end of it he loves it just as much as I do! We had absolutely no experience and he will tell you himself he’s a terrible dancer, but the instructors made it comfortable and fun. We are now keeping with it and are so glad we chose Planet Ballroom!

I’ve danced on and off pretty much all my life since childhood, and therefore met numerous dance instructors and teachers throughout my dance career. It is rare that you run into a coach or teacher that has both — great dancing skills and ability to teach and match your learning style. I was blown away when a year ago I started taking Jonathan’s lessons. Besides being an incredible and super talented dancer, his teaching skills and pedigree absolutely superseded anything I have seen before. I’ve been somewhat stalled in my progress prior to meeting Jonathan, and in the first year he has taken me leaps and bounds to a whole new level of dancing. His technical skills and understanding of foundation of dancing is superb, and on top of that the dance charisma that he conveys and tries to bring out in his students is what truly makes you a better dancer.
I have to mention Jonathan’s patience with his students — whether you’re a beginner or advanced — he literally doesn’t run out of ways to adjust his approach and explanations depending on your learning style or even the mood you’re in today. I have never had a feeling that my teacher cares so much — it added so much more motivation for me personally.
And one last thing — personality! Charismatic, excited, positive, attentive… It’s that much easier to work hard when you enjoy being around your teacher.
I truly believe that whether you’re a very beginner or advanced dancer or anywhere in between — you will get a lot out of taking lessons from Jonathan.
