Red Roof Inn & Suites

One star only because I have to give something. This is awful. Bad part of town. Dirty. Old. Scary. Won’t sleep tonight. Worst room I’ve ever had. Not even a bar in the closet to hang anything. Bathroom is the size of the closet & disgusting.

We stayed at this place Friday night the 6^th. We were driving in from chicago and needed a place to stay close to the highway. So we googled and found this place. Now I had never stayed at this franchise before, and looking at the pic I had reasonable expectations and was actually looking foward to resting here. Check in was fine, (we called ahead. It was smoothly) but when we were on our way to the room we noticed the building was incredibly old. We we got to room 315 it was what I expected, nice king size bed, tv, but what I didn’t expect was the tiny bathroom. That aside we were still comfortable. So we leave to grab a pizza, come back, eat and get ready for bed. We pull back the covers, get in and sleep for the night. Saturday day morning we wake and find a bed bug on my side of the bed. I yelled and showed my bf. He agreed that’s what it was. So I picked it up with a tissue and flushed it. We continue getting ready to leave and I find a smaller on his side of the bed. This time I pick it up and put it in a cup to management at checkout. So we check out and I show him the bed bug in the cup and explained the situation. He simply asks us our room number, writes it down, and goes in the back office. He returns a second later with a coupon for 15% Off our NEXT stay at the franchise anywhere in the us. We asked him if we could get a discount on this stay and he says there’s nothing they can do on this bill. No mind you he was in no way rude during the exchange but the fact that I brought you proof of what I’m saying and I realized we stayed the whole night but you can’t give me something off this $ 80 bill? RIDICULOUS! So we hit the road and continue our road trip. Sunday I received an email for a survey. I take it and write about our experience in the comments section. Monday I get another email from the management say what I gave them in the cup was not what it looked like. Laughable. In hindsight I should’ve made a video but I didn’t think of it at the time.

WORST HOTEL EVER! DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
We looked at reviews for this hotel and saw that they weren’t great but we went to check out the hotel anyways. We asked to look at a room before buying and after ten minutes of being in the room we got a loud knock on the door and a skinny tall black man asked us if we were checking out and asked why we were taking so long and then said to us «Oh, i see. You’re trying to get one in, huh.»
Needless to say, I told him to go fuck himself and gave the manager a piece of my mind. Then they still charged us $ 100. Called the hotel and they said it would be 3 – 5 days before the money would be back in our account. Don’t even bother going here. I will never stay at any red roof in, especially this one. If there was an option, they would be getting –20 stars.

I stayed here for 2014 Dragoncon for 5 nights and it was what we expected: a cheap place close to downtown to crash.
The only problem of this place is the neighborhood. It doesn’t look safe to walk around. We didn’t have a car so we were walking about 22min total to get to and from Dragoncon. It is fine during the day with people waking their dogs or running, but it is not a good idea to walk at night. Also we did the mistake of ordering pizza from Dominos that is only one block away and we decided for carry out to save a few bucks, but I tell you that this 4min walk was damn scary! The way to Dominos is a ghetto, but the way to downtown it’s fine and the hotel is in the middle separating it. If you stay in this hotel don’t walk around at night! Order pizza to be delivered!
Besides the neighborhood the hotel was just fine for what we needed. We stayed in a room with two queen size beds with a refrigerator and microwave. There is a family dollar besides the hotel so it was perfect to get food that need to be refrigerated and leave in the room. It had plenty of space and was perfect for my friend that needed space to get ready with his cosplay. But It is a better idea to stay here if you have a car, so you don’t have the same problems as me and my friend that had to walk around the scary part of the neighborhood.
