Let me start by saying subway forget you, Blimpies forget you too overcharging folks for those sub-par sandwiches. When I’m working on GSU campus I light up like a Christmas Tree because I know I’m going to eat at Sensational Subs for lunch. This is by far THEBEST subs around no questions asked. It’s affordable and it you’ll be full as hell. I wish I could eat and go home I be so sleepy lol. The chicken philly is awesome I’m talking bout holy Dorritos Batman, turkey and cheese was also extremely good get extra meat. The meatball was so good I was dipping the bread on the paper to get all the sauce(yeah I’m that greedy) lol the bread here is a big part of the great sandwiches it’s always soft and fresh. This place needs a franchise seriously. I would eat here way more often if I could find an inexpensive place to park. Do me a favor and just eat here.

Yes! A replacement for the elusive Blimpie! Since I don’t eat at Subway, and I can’t find a Blimpie, and Jimmy John’s didn’t deliver to my old work site, and doesn’t deliver to my home, I needed to find a sub place. Enter Unilocal! I was near GSU, and Unilocalers directed me to this place. What delicious sandwiches, and ever better bread! Mmmm! Be warned, there is NO parking. It’s right near the 5 Points train station downtown, ON the GSU campus, so no parking. Howver, it’s worth the illegal park, throw on your hazards, and run in! There is a wonderfully nice gentleman making the sandwiches, and he’s great. He writes nothing down, but gets your sandwich perfect! Prices are reasonable, too. Glad I went, and I intend to visit over and over. You should know that the onions are SUPERDUPERSTRONG.

As much as I wanted to not like Sensational Subs(maybe its the fact that I almost get run over from people leaving the parking deck next door) I have to say I have succumbed to the awesome sandwich making abilities of this quaint little spot. Helps that they serve beer too :)

I go to GSU and this is one of my favorite places on campus to eat. The subs are better than subway and Quiznos. They are really quick but I don’t advise going during the lunch rush. The staff is clean and the owner is cool to talk to. Also it is very affordable and will leave you full after lunch

This is a fantastic little restaurant conveniently located near Georgia State University. After crossing by this place many many times, I finally decided to stop in for lunch. The interior isn’t exactly a sugo or anything, but feels very homey. I ordered the ham, salami, and cheese sub(roughly $ 5), and I must say that I am impressed. The cashier was an elder gentleman, who was incredibly friendly when taking my order. Within minutes, my sub was served. At first sight, the sub didn’t look like it was made with precision, and the maker must have quickly slapped some ingredients together(which actually could have been possible). Overall, the sub tasted exceptional! Compared to the overrated subways across the street, this small gem is the clear winner. Price is great. Food is great. Atmosphere is great. Service is great. This restaurant has my approval. I highly recommend you stop by this place if you have the chance. I promise you will not regret it!

This is the Sensational Subs that Georgia State students go to. It’s on Gilmer St, or whatever that street is that everyone walks down when they are coming from Aderhold towards General Classroom Building. The guy who works there is a cool dude, and he never looks at you funny for ordering a pitcher of beer when you are just by yourself. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see a few, or several people sitting alone with pitchers, or sitting together, each person with their own pitcher. Sensational Subs has been serving small pitchers of beer for $ 4.10 and large ones for $ 7.40 for several years. When the guy pours your pitcher, he fills it all the way up, and then fills up your cup, too. He is a cool dude. Yes, it is cheap crappy beer, but it’s just what you want when you’re in the middle of a stressful day at school. Or about to start one, or whatever. The subs are great. Simple. White or wheat? A simple decision, unlike Subway, which has more than 4 kinds of bread with complicated names. Not to dis Subway, though. Subway has better tuna. The philly cheese steak at Sensational is quite good. I like how they serve Golden Flake potato chips, and they have the dill pickle kind. They also have ice cream. I like this place.

Definitely a hole in the wall type restaurant in downtown. It’s really close to my office so I pop in from time to time when I have a hankering for a sandwich. I like this place better than subway… but not as much as quiznos. Overall the sandwiches are pretty average. I like their bread more than most sandwich shops. The lunch sandwich deals are a really good price, overall. Sandwich, chips and a drink for like $ 7.00. Avoid the noon lunch rush or be prepared to wait a while to get your order in. The only negative impression I have of this place is some of the staff. I’ve seen one guy mess things up(small mistakes) a few times and another guy working there verbally abuse him as a result. This seems totally inappropriate and I’ve seen it happen twice.

Sensational Subs reminds me of 1993, and I like that. Today I ordered a tuna sub all the way, worried that it might be piled high with weird pickled substances, but instead less was more: a modest layer of tuna salad, onion slices, tomato slices, shredded lettuce, spices and what tasted like vinegar. Even though the ‘wich contained no cheese, I gobbled it up. That’s a huge deal for cheese-adoring me.

Don’t let the hole-in-the-wall store front fool you, these subs are great! They’re way better than the Subway, and cheaper for what you get. This is where the cool kids at GSU get lunch because they’ve got pitchers a student can actually afford. Makes a great halfway spot between GCB and Adherhold. Oh, and now they take MCard/Visa but not AmEx.
