Siyeh Glass

A friend (my craft buddy) and I bought vouchers for this place– bead making and kiln forming. We were both novices to the bead making. It is something that definitely takes practice. They provide all the gear to keep you safe. But the flying glass is still scary. The teacher was really nice, patient, and helped us when needed. You come out making a number of beads that are baked and you have to come back to get.
My friend was familiar with kiln forming. So the lengthy explanation of the how it is all done (which even I admit was a bit boring and too long) was wasted time for her. You get to choose grain and color of your glasses-​using as many colors as you want. Great! My piece didn’t come out exactly as I had hoped, but that wasn’t their fault. Again, you have to come back for it once it has been fired.
The parking here is a bit weird. You park in the nearby lot on some grass. When it has been raining, it is not so nice.
It was a nice experience, but I pretty much figured out that it wasn’t for me.

The date night offering at Siyeh is an unpassupable deal! For less than $ 200 per couple there’s food & drink, easy to follow instruction with a real glass blower (Lee was great!), the opportunity to make 3 pieces (each) of your own, and all the photos you take (they provide the camera) burned to a CD in high res AND a slide show mad for you of your experience.
