I was just at this location(Campbelton) and the asst manager Amber was really rude. I will not be patronizing this business again. I was told Cami Cakes gives great customer service so I will be spending my money with them. I was there to find a new vendor for my events. I’ve never experienced such bad customer service. Really bad attitude, mean facial expressions, lips poked out and loud. That’s the example she’s setting in a public forum in front of her employees and anyone who would happen to walk in. Extremely unprofessional.

The cupcakes are really good, very moist, and lots of flavors. BUT the customer service sucks. For there to be such a fun, pink, cute décor going on, the customer service does not reflect that ATALL. Like many of the other reviews said, you get no greeting when you come in, the service makes you feel like ‘get your cupcake and get out’. I would have given this place a higher review if it was based just on the cupcakes. Customer service is important to me so two stars it is.

Omg i had just a fork full of the strawberry cheesecake at one of my girlfriends bday and i didnt realize how delicious they were until i stopped by this location to get my own. I halfway devoured the peanut butter. I tried to indulge all of it but my stomach didn’t have any food yet so it fought back. I recomment everyone to try at least one cupcake here and you wouldn’t look at another cupcake the same. I’ve triend some from various places but this one takes the Gold medal.

I think I falsely came here with supreme high hopes for their cupcakes. I was curious if their cupcakes had that light frosting that reminds you of a flavored cool whip type of situation. No, they have the thick type that reminds you of the time you were 5 and went to your friend’s birthday party. I was also curious if their cupcakes had the filling and/or icing in the very middle that you taste when you bite into it. No, it’s just plain cake. Darn, I struck out on 2 of the very things I was looking for in a cupcake. :( Yeah, they aren’t bad, but they also weren’t what I was looking for. I will continue my search for the cupcake type I described above!

Bad customer service and I didn’t like the fact that the cupcakes were not beneath a glass or some type of protective covering. That is just not good for a germaphobe like myself. Cupcakes tasted good but, I scraped all of the icing off because I didn’t know what type of dust particles had landed on it or how long they had been sitting out like that.

I think this particular Smallcakes is mistaken on what their mission is for profit and being successful. The upsides were actually pretty good. The cupcakes were moist and did not have weird aftertastes. They have a pretty decent selection and provide different cupcakes on different days to make you want to come back, pick up the regular ones and get special ones. The ‘iffy’ parts? The showroom, the place to actually sit down, has chairs and tables, but no music and no reason for me to sit down. Therefore, I am not sure why I would want to sit there are eat when it feels like a place where you just go to pick something up and leave. Yet, the service leaves a lot to be desired. That is where places like Smallcakes has their biggest downfall: their employees. I found my first experience to be left lacking compared to my experiences at other places where I spend my discretionary income, such as Piece O Cake. Here are a few missteps which could be easily corrected. When someone comes into your establishment, greet them with a ‘Hello.’ When they leave, say ‘Thank you for coming to Smallcakes.‘ Know what your cupcakes have in them. You should know if the Key Lime have cream, curd, fruit, etc. Don’t act upset when we are choosing our cupcakes. As we are looking, say something like ‘When you’re ready, I’ll be right here.’ There is no reason to act as if our choosing is bothering you when you are on the clock and there is no one behind us. I do not like when I receive mediocre service, especially when you are charging me for a marked up, non-needed, non-essential, extremely fatty snackfood. The service is what makes me go back, stop going, or go to their competitors — just in spite. Right now, I am stuck in stop going mode at the moment. Maybe in another year, I’ll see if they have changed. UPDATE Didn’t quite wait one year to go back. I went back three different times to see if any changes happened(before amending my review) and our Smallcakes is actually very much improved! When someone comes in they are saying ‘Welcome’ and thanking you for coming. The interaction was welcomed and they also don’t look exasperated when you are choosing. Even if they don’t have a certain flavor, they make them in short order — not having you stand off to the side as they wait on the next customer. You are priority if you are ordering at that time. Very much improved, but it still has a sort of coldness to the location as there is no music playing and the sitting areas are still very sparse. I am guessing those are there just to accommodate people who are picking up rather than to actually have a dining area, since they do not offer any drinks. I still say thank you to this Smallcakes for doing what needed to be done, but I will not take down my previous review lest we forget what happened in the past … 2nd Update: Since it is my last time going to This Smallcakes, I figured I would update the review with more of the same from them. Went on 12÷15÷15 about 3PM. She said Hello, which was a plus. Yet, had a ‘buy one, get one free’ coupon which she obviously did not want to take. Got two birthday cakes, and proceeded to check out. She took one of the ‘Buy 10, Get one free’ cards, stamped it, then put it in the drawer. Afterwards, I asked her point blank, ‘Am I supposed to get a card?’ She said ‘thank you for coming’ and I reciprocated the gesture. What bothers me the most is that she decided to keep the card for herself or her family members instead of making sure the store has future business. I should know, I have went through four of the cards(which lets you know how much I USED to go). I will make sure to frequent the East-West Connector store even more; I have zero problems at that store every time I go.
