This restaurant is tucked away from the road. It could be easily missed when choosing where to go eat. It has excellent sushi, the staff is very fast and efficient. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for great sushi and would want to avoid a «Friday night crowd» since it is hidden away in a shopping center and not on the main street.

Great service, genuinely warm and friendly. The nigiri was solid so don’t drown it in soy sauce and wasabi.

Great place for sushi. The surf clam was fantastic. Super Crunch was awesome!!! Staff was very attentive. Reasonably priced. Good place to eat and have a hot sake or cold beer. Will go here again when I come back to Atlanta.

Just wanted to give this place another rave review! I’ve been coming here for over a year based on another person’s recommendation Amazing quality sushi! Extremely friendly staff. Great deal on their sushi and sashimi combo for 2. They have gluten free soy sauce available Definitely worth coming here!

Not the best of sushi places in Atlanta, but with 45mins to closing time on a weekday, this was the only place close to the Marriott on Perimeter Pkwy(that wasn’t in the mall). Friendly wait staff, but not a great selection of sushi. Turns out the place had more Korean dishes than Japanese. The fish was far from fresh and I ended up leaving several sashimi pieces on my plate. Will probably not return to dine here. When will I learn about strip mall sushi joints!

Not sure how this place has been delegated 4 stars. My assumption would be that the clientele are mostly local and have little exposure to quality sushi. I’ve tried many sushi restaurants in the Atlanta Metro and this definitely ranks in the lower tier. My main contention would be the lack of freshness exhibited by the sushi. It defeats the whole purpose of sushi. Unfortunately, I’ve had similar quality sushi from a supermarket.

A girlfriend and I dined here on a Saturday evening. We were greeted by nearly the entire staff upon walking in, which made a good first impression. We started off with calamari and spring rolls. At $ 5 for the calamari, I thought it was a steal! It’s certainly one of the lowest prices I have seen. When our appetizers arrived at our table, I quickly realized why they were so cheap: both were obviously from a freezer bag minutes before arriving at our table. The calamari rings were some of the smallest I’ve ever seen and I think I’ve purchased the spring rolls before from my local H Mart. The accompanying sauces were also not freshly made. For my main, I ordered two sushi rolls: the Rock and Roll and the Volcano Roll. The Rock and Roll was very fresh and delicious, presented nicely, and tasted great – I finished all of it! The Volcano roll was a huge disappointment. The«creamy spicy» sauce on top was entirely too creamy and greasy, with the grease soaking through the into the sushi, causing it to fall apart. The sauce was also very heavy and altogether, I couldn’t will myself to finish two pieces. Overall, this place has great service and what seems to be authentic sushi chefs behind the bar. However, it has some tough competition with Nori Nori and Blue Grotto in the area. Improve on more fresh cooking and serving quality food to be a serious competitor.

I have been going to Sushi Mio for work lunches for about 2 years and have nothing but positive things to say about the place. I always sit at the bar and get the well-priced lunch special(miso soup, salad, assorted sushi and chefs choice of roll which changes by day). The restaurant is very clean and Mr. Yi has an incredible attention to detail in his preparation. The wait staff always greet us with a smile and always remember our orders. The miso is not my favorite but everything else is top notch.

This review is for lunch Sushi combo. I don’t know about other foods here, but do avoid the Sushi from this place. Sushi combo comes with your standard miso soup and salad. First of all, you can tell if a Japanese restaurant is a good or not by tasting the miso soup. Soup here is bland — meaning cook does not know the essence of Japanese cuisine. Good miso soup will be based on good dashi. Soup here did not use dashi. They just put some miso in a hot water and called it a day. This is typical of establishments owned by non-Japanese. Salad was ok. Now to the sushi. You can tell the quality of sushi by the looks of the fish and the taste/texture of sushi rice. Let’s start with the rice. It was rather hard, and did not have any aroma of su(Japanese rice vinegar). They were also little cold. This may be one of the reasons why rice had stiffer texture. So far, not good. Now, to the fish. You can tell the quality and freshness by looking at tuna and smelling the salmon. Tuna did not have any shine. Surface was dry. Color did not have bright fresh red color. Though salmon did not smell, after eating it, I really tasted and smelled fishy, which is not a good sign. Other fish were equally not good. After completing my meal, I was hoping that I would not have any issue digesting it, but that was not the case. Later that night, the food I consumed could not wait to get out of my body. as for the service, as others have pointed out, they were quick. It was really too quick. Food came out in no time. This is also a bad sign at places where they serve sushi. Servers were nice, but they were just trying too hard, so I didn’t feel like they were being sincere. I would love to give 1 start, but since I did not try other foods, I will give them 2. I would not come back, and I will advise others to not come here if you are looking for some decent sushi.

I’ve heard great things about Sushi Mio so I was excited to finally get the chance to try them out. I absolutely loved the generous pieces of sashimi. Even better, their fish was fresh. I knew wanted the Chirashi sushi bowl which is one of my favorite things to order since it’s got all the cuts of fish. Sushi Mio does their Chirashi a little different in that they’ve flavored their rice with fish flakes and such. The rice is tasty by itself, but it was a little unexpected for me because I thought it would be the fluffy Japanese white rice with a bit of rice vinegar. I expected something simpler so I could fully enjoy the fish. I think if I had the Chirashi again, I’d ask for plain rice. This bowl was definitely filling at $ 27 during dinner. I also ordered the Agedashi Tofu as an appetizer because I kind of wanted something lightly fried. I’m already being healthy with the salad and raw fish, right? The tofu was perfect. Lightly battered, fried, with the right amount of salt and topped with dried salmon skin. I thought this place was Japanese owned, but it turns out to be Korean, but I almost couldn’t tell. Service was great. They’re all attentive to their guests regardless of race(unfortunately, I have been to other Japanese places where wait staff is more rude to Asian customers than Non-Asians). I would definitely come back just for sushi. I checked out the noodle section because I love a good bowl of ramen, but unfortunately there’s only one choice and a bunch of udon choices. This tells me that ramen is probably not their specialty and it’s hard to ruin udon, so I think I’m just going to stick to fresh, generous pieces of fish at Sushi Mio.

I like this little place! I usually go there for lunch since it’s not too far from my work. I get the feeling that the chef owner has a higher than normal standard for his restaurant. I’ve been to enough Asian restaurants to know this is not the case for a lot of them. I usually shy away from rolls and stick to sushi and sashimi but I love their Spider roll. I love the way they have slices of pear in them. So good! Chirashi is another one of my favorites. Can’t go wrong here if you want fresh, nicely presented sushi.

This is my go to sushi restaurant if I am in the area. I usually eat here before seeing a comedy show across the street at The Punchline. They have never been extremely busy, and I have always received good service here. The fish is fresh and the sushi selection is pretty typical of what you would get at most sushi restaurants. This could be a nice place to take a date, as it’s always quiet and has a nice ambiance.

This is a solid 4-star lunch spot. My coworkers and I regularly come here for our lunch breaks, and the wait staff are incredibly nice — they always greet us at the door, seat us promptly, and bring our drinks out immediately(which they always remember!). The restaurant is very mindful that most folks in the area have a limited amount of time for lunch, so they are quick to take your order, bring out your food, and conclude your checks. They do take credit cards, and never have an issue with splitting checks. The bento boxes here are very good — each one comes with soup(miso) AND salad(ginger dressing), with california rolls(4 pieces) and tempura(1 piece shrimp and a selection of veggies) to round out your main dish. The bento box selections are reasonably priced for the area, especially for the amount of food you are getting. There is also a lunch chirashi bowl(if you like that sort of thing) which is pretty good(not as good as circle sushi’s lunch chirashi bowl, but cheaper for sure). All in all, a solid lunch spot, although keep in mind prices go up for dinner(with the same offerings).

I find it hard to believe that a restaurant could screw up something as easy as Agedashi Tofu but this place has managed to do just that. It came out as two big triangles with very little bonito flake and far to much sauce, the texture was hard as if they over cooked it. News flash this is supposed to be a delicate dish. Ordered a chaurasi combo for lunch the fish that was tried was not fresh, the shrimp was overcooked and even the crabstick was stale, the red tuna that was tried had a weird texture to it almost mealy like it had been frozen more than once ? The white tuna I don’t want to get started on I took one bite and Immediately spit it into a napkin again not fresh and had a slimy texture. The rice underneath the fish was inedible they had seasoned it with something that I didn’t ask for and had to ask for plain white rice, at that point I asked for the check and left. Save your twenty for lunch and go elsewhere !

I was actually pretty impressed with the sushi here and the portions are not small! When I was visiting my friend in Atlanta we suddenly had a craving for sushi and noticed that Sushi Mio was right around the corner and that the Atlanta Unilocalers had given it a pretty solid thumbs up. As usual, Unilocal did not steer me wrong. Their miso soup was standard, but still very yummy, and then we had probably the BEST volcano roll we’ve ever had. It had some kind of roe/volcano/yummy topping all over it which was awesome! We also tried the sweet pumpkin roll which was pretty tasty, and had the Spider Roll which actually tasted very fresh and crispy! Totally recommend the volcano roll if you go, but I doubt anything on the menu is bad with such fresh ingredients.

Walking in this place yesterday, I realized I’d been here before, but I can’t remember how long ago it was… I did remember though that it was the first place I finally ate sushi that was not just an avocado roll. Although, I do still absolutely adore avocado rolls very much, this was the first time I ever had a spicy tuna roll and having it again definitely showed me why. There were maybe four tables with people, and we sat at the sushi bar. Our sushi was made so fast, it was surprising and awesome. I really, really love their spicy tuna roll because they use a chili sauce rather than some mayonnaise based sauce in there. It actually has a kick and allows you to still taste the fish rather than the tuna being drowned out by a heavy mayo taste. I also love the bagel roll… I really have zero interest in caring about what’s ~authentic~ and not when it comes to sushi. This probably comes from the fact that the most awesome take on sushi I ever had was nigiri based on a Caprese salad, so bagel rolls remind me of it, but with fish. Sometimes salmon has too strong of a flavor for me but this roll was perfect. The yellowtail roll was really good too… my boyfriend I think put it best: it tastes like the ocean, but with no fishy flavor at all. Last, we got one of their special Sushi Mio rolls that involves deep frying. It’s basically the yellowtail roll, with ginger added, deep fried, then drizzled with ponzu sauce. Now really, I don’t care for the taste of a deep fried sushi roll, but if they put ginger in the regular yellowtail roll that would be even more amazing. Everyone is extremely friendly, and every time the one male server smiled I found myself smiling because he had such an adorable smile. Our sushi chef was also so sweet, and I’m glad I remembered this place, because now that I realize it’s a lot closer than it was to where my boyfriend used to live, I can go more often~ #Yelp365 — 16⁄365
