I’m the first one to admit I have bad brows. They are sparse, unruly, curly, short, just a hot mess. Thank goodness for eyebrow corrector and liner. Due to overwaxing and plucking by nail techs, my brows have been all over the place. I decided to give threading a try because I heard positive stories from friends. Arches came to mind because I passed it on a recent visit to Northlake Mall. The Unilocal reviews were pretty positive so that was a selling point for me. I visited Arches around lunch time and was promptly greeted. The shop wasn’t busy so I was seated right away. The technician, Kusum, took a few minutes to assess my brows. It is always a sigh of relief when a technician doesn’t make comments about my brows. Obviously I know what they look like, that’s why I’m getting them done lol. She threaded one side, waited for my approval and continued to the next brow. She was professional, quick, and gentle. Maybe I lucked up my first time but I had a great experience. I know where and who I will be going to, to get my brows done from now on.

I have been going to this place for years. I normally go to the older lady in the first chair(I cannot recall her name). She is great. I do not like my brows thinned out. She keeps them full for me. Sometimes they are extremely crowded. You just have to pick a time to go when the mall isn’t crowded. I normally go on my lunch break. I would definitely go back. They are also very quick.

So i have been coming here for over a year… usually when I ask whoever(and it varies) to keep them thick, as thick as possible and clean up the stray hairs I walk out happy. Not this time. Ive been explaining how I want them to look so much that its routine. However… she didnt listen… and now my eyebrows are super thin. And then when I said that she took too much i can see a different shade of skin… she told me no… she did what I asked. Sigh… off to the beauty supply store to grab an eyebrow pencil. My advice if you value your eyebrows… make sure you explain carefully EXACTLY what you like.

If you are going here to get your eyebrows threaded ask yourself this question first. Do I want my eyebrows threaded and shaped to accent my face, or do I just want my eyebrows threaded? If you choose to just want them threaded then this is the place for you. The care and skill of a perfectly shaped arch is not a priority at this place. You have been warned.

The location is convenient for me, but overall the mall that this place is in is crap, unless you like crap. oh and its next to a cookie place so you can give yourself a treat if you behave in there. This place is hit or miss. I’ve had a couple of great experiences and some that weren’t so great. I had a friend go with me once and they literally cut her lip with the thread, so she told them to stop and wax it… then tried to charge for waxing and threading. For me I’ve had a couple times where I went hand had a great experience. Then a couple times where I went and had to go some place else within days to get it re-done correctly. I only go for eyebrows in emergency situations now. Once I had to argue with the lady that she had indeed left hair behind and she told me it was just that my skin was bumpy. My skin is not bumpy, and im not in denial. I laughed because the next time I went back, another customer had the same experience. «No, you face has bump»

I love my eyebrows, from the shape to the thickness that comes natural to me so I never, ever, ever, allowed anyone to wax them. When I discovered the art of threading a few years ago I decided to look into it because it was different from waxing, it lasted longer, and I liked how the finishing result looked. I wanted to give it a try and see, if any, how this might enhance my look. Well, it worked… at least when they got it right. The thing about threading eyebrows, to me, is that it can go either way depending on who you technician is. Like any other personal beauty service, if you find someone you like, who knows exactly what you like, stick with them. Unfortunately, I’ve had to go through a few technicians to find out that not all threading is equal. Since I’m very particular about how I like them to look, I had a few experiences that left me rather unhappy but thankfully, eyebrows do grow back. I found my fit at The Arches Threading Lounge at Northlake mall. All of the ladies there do a pretty good job. They listen to what I want and do their best to deliver. Threading can be painful, especially if it’s your first time but as time goes on it gets easier to handle. It last for about 3 – 3 ½ weeks for me, which is really good. I’ve heard from others about it lasting anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. It just depends on how fast your hair grows back. Pricing is reasonable. It costs $ 10 for eyebrows, $ 5 for chin and upper lip.

Went to this location for the first time and I will be returning. I had tried threading a couple of other times at another place and I just couldn’t deal with the pain and my eyebrows throbbed for days afterwards. However at this Northlake Mall location I didn’t experience a level of pain that was unbearable. It still is uncomfortable but tolerable and a cleaner process because there are not added chemicals like waxing or chance of cuts as in using a razor blade. I didn’t give it a full 5 stars because I had to spread my brow area with my hands throughout the procedure. That caused my eye to hurt a little after it was over. Even still I plan on returning.

Overall: excellent service provided at a bargain price Pros: My masseuse Minaz was friendly, professional and very thorough. My herbal facial lasted for almost an hour($ 35) which felt more like a massage of my upper body. They use their own organic products which are seemingly pretty good as my super sensitive skin feels really soft and glowing after 24 hours. Overall it was a very relaxing yet invigorating facial which let me feel pampered. I will highly recommend Minaz and return for sure for more facial and scalp treatments. She threaded my eyebrow and upper lips as well($ 15) which one of the best I have had in years. Cons: Threading hurts more than waxing period. However, if you can sustain the initial discomfort it has a better after effect than waxing. Although superficially clean but this place(specially the chambers where you would receive facial) has that slightly cheap unkempt feeling that some parlors in Buford highway do. However, unlike Buford there is no language barrier here and the place is quiet and calm and they play a soft music in the background if you prefer that.
